Lunar Lock Talks of Recent EP and More Music!

Melancholic cold act LUNAR LOCK have a few pieces of material out, a debut EP out this summer with another out in the fall. An online store is also in the works with much else as well. The band talks of this plus more all below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band was created by two friends of 21 and 23 years old during the confinement. At first we played to pass the time without thinking of forming a band and then we quickly got the taste for it. We liked the idea of making a band with two people because we were fed up with bands with 4/5 people where you always have someone who weighs down the project. For my part, I'm still studying (I'm the one who sings and does the guitar and drums part on the synthesizer) so it's complicated to find time today to rehearse, record and do concerts. The other member of the band (the bass player) is working and started playing bass not so long ago.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

We were looking at the moon one night and it always fascinated us both. We thought that we were so close to it and at the same time so far from it. That finally, without it we could not live (with the functioning of the tides). We also wanted to accentuate the fact that it marks for the moment our own limit. Ok we walked on the moon but Mercury, Venus, it will not be for soon. Hence the name lunar lock.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We're from Angers, a town in the north west of France, 1 hour from Nantes and 3 hours from Paris. we don't have many places to play to be honest because it's not a city that moves much musically. We have bands like Wild Fox or Fragile that are worth checking out.

4. How would you describe your style?

We have a style that can be described as cold. We have a lot of different influences so it's hard to talk about ourselves haha. What we can say is that melancholy is at the center of our inspiration to compose. So I would describe our style as cold and melancholic.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far we have released 5 tracks including 3 singles and 1 EP. We plan to release several EPs per year. We also want to experiment with several themed EPs and not rest on our laurels.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, we just released our first 4 track EP on Friday July 15th and we are already preparing our new EP for November.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Nothing yet.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

There are many! We really want to record all the songs in our set live, and that includes several singles and EPs. Then, what would be great is to tour and do some shows abroad, discover new places. We've only done a few shows but we really like the scene.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We will soon open our online store where we will be able to sell t-shirts, which are currently sold at the end of the shows!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

What makes us most happy is when our music touches the person, makes them feel strong emotions. We want to transmit, share and distinguish ourselves from what is done today.
