Blacken death metallers ANTHEMS OF GOMORRAH have been around for sometime, featuring only a duo act, this one has released an array of content since forming. The most recent offering is the band's debut album, with the band already hard at work upon newer content, with a lot else in-store of course. See what the band discusses of all of this right below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Hello, this is TK from Anthems of Gomorrah. AOG started when I was 13 years old. I had already been big on music but I discovered extreme metal in middle school and knew immediately that’s what I wanted to play. The band started off really rough though. I was young, didn’t have a lot of equipment or even any real musical knowledge. The early releases of the band are immature and not good; it was mostly about clout chasing as a teenager as opposed to creating something meaningful and well-thought out. The material got better over time, but by 2012 I was burned out and decided to end the band.
But during the course of the Pandemic, I reconnected with an old friend, which is how PS came to join the band, and we began talking about writing music together quite seriously. After jamming a few times, we finally sat down and got serious so at the beginning of this year, I decided to bring this project back with PS as the other half. PS and I have known each other since high school and he actually has a much more impressive resume than I; he is the former bass player of the band Dark Sermon as well as another band from back in our younger days called Bigredrobot ( This band THREW DOWN back in the day! \m/ ) 2022 kicked off as a good start for us. We have a lot of material that is already released and a whole lot of other material that is yet to be released. The rest of this year and 2023 are going to be interesting (but also exciting!) for this project.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
When I younger, I wanted something that would really stick out not only from the local scene at the time but also from within the very niche audience that I wanted to appeal to (This is quite the pretentious endeavor for a 13 year old, of course).
Anthems of Gomorrah was a random suggestion myself and a former member came up with. I didn’t have a real reasoning for it back then, but now I think it is a representation of modernity and history repeating itself. God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah for their excess, hedonism and sin. We look at the world today and we can see that it is no better (perhaps far worse) than in those days. We’ve all heard the old saw that “history repeats itself,” and I think it is very fitting. The world is a shitty place and we’re getting worse every day. Gomorrah and its sins were never really destroyed, you can hear the Anthems of their debauchery every time you go into the city or turn on your television set.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are based out of Pinellas County, Florida. I don’t want to give too many specifics.
4. How would you describe your style?
Really it depends on the nature of the release. PS and I play what comes naturally to us; there’s always a variety of influences that get thrown into the mix. But I would describe Anthems of Gomorrah, at its core, as a Melodic Black/Death Metal band.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
As of 2022, we have released one demo, one full length album and one EP composed of unused/re-recorded material.

You should expect fast, thundering Black/Death Metal with only a few melodic sections to allow you to catch your breath. The ‘Aelvica’ releases are all conceptually based on a story I have been writing for years but not every AOG release is about that. Aelvica is sort of my pet project.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes! We are completing our second full length album for this year called ‘Aelvica II.’ It’s heavier, faster and much more furious than the first release. I think it is some of the best music that I or PS have ever written. On top of that, we are working on a strictly Blackened Death Met5al EP due in September called ‘Debasement’ and others will follow shortly thereafter.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
This is a long term goal for us. At the moment, it’s not possible for us. We both have careers and work full time, and PS is going to celebrate the birth of his first child in a few months (In ten years, we’ll have a new drummer!) so things are hectic for us on the personal side. But that doesn’t mean we don’t want to play live. If we could find other musicians to jam and learn our material, then maybe we could start looking that way. For now though, we make due with what we’re capable of doing.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
We would love to go as far as we can. The goal for us with this band is to share our talents with the world, let them know who we are and what we are capable of creating. The further we can take it, the more exciting it is for us.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
I’d like a first timer to listen with an open mind. Don’t allow other bands you’ve heard before to sum up your expectations; we’re a new band and you should form your own expectations of us. If you compare us to someone else, it takes away a lot of the uniqueness behind our music. I want a first time listener to give us an honest try. If it’s not for you, so be it. If you enjoy, then we are humbled by your support and hope you continue to do so.
