November 2022

Spanish Heavy/Power Metal band Nurcry released their new single "Sangre Eterna". The release was recorded in the studio OBI-ONE in Madrid, and mixed/mastered by Carlos Saiz.

Check out the single linked below:

Nurcry was formed in 2021 at Leganés, Spain as a one man project by Ángel Gutiérrez. This project is a 16 year old boy´s dream that during the 80´s promised himself he would publish a rock album some day, and 40 years later that dream has come true.

Pop metal band SEGMENTIA have not one but three various EP releases, with all new music coming soon in the form of their debut album! A few shows have been set for the next year as well. The band's drummer discusses about these releases and other plans in the works!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Long story short: Segmentia started as a cover band around 2012 and we played all kind of music, for example Finnish pop music but also music from Paramore, Nirvana, Avenged Sevenfold, Porcupine Tree... just mentioned few.

I had just ended things up with my old band, Celesty, and some point I thought that now is the time to start making my own music again. This time I wanted to compose music with a female vocalist. It took some time but on 2019 we released our first EP "Shanghai", in January 2023 we are releasing our second EP "Alone".

There is four of us in Segmentia:

I have been composing heavy music and playing drums over 20 years now. I play the drums and make the backing tracks and write lyrics to Segmentia.

Our guitarist Arttu has also played guitar for all his life, he is also teaching his instrument. Arttu has been in Segmentia with me since the day one.

Bass player Matti is a multi-talent, he is mixing our demos and composes music.

Vocalist Kansana is a newbie in music scene, she is making most of the visual stuff for us and helping with the lyrics.

You can read more from our biography:

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

At first, we named our band as "Seventh Segment" but just before our first EP release I wanted the band's name to be only a one word and I invented the name Segmentia. We combine several music styles in our songs, like segments. So, there is a clue of our music in the name.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We live in Seinäjoki, which is located in Southern Ostrobothnia, Finland. Seinäjoki is a small town but the music scene in here is very active! I could mention a lot of bands from Seinäjoki to check out, but f.e. Antivalent, Memoremains & Nicole are the first ones to pop in my mind atm.

4. How would you describe your style?

Our genre is Pop Metal. We are combining bright melodies & sounds to metal music. Yet there are symphonic elements in almost every song, so .... To elaborate a bit, what we draw from our pop music influences are straight forward song structures with some catchy hooks and melodies

and those elements we bring together with the base of metal and heavy rock music and that's why we call our music pop metal.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Shanghai EP 2019

Shanghai Live EP 2021

Alone EP 2023

Segmentia is "pop metal from the north", and it means that our music is melancholic (like us finnish people often are when making art), but also hopeful! Our songs have many layers and they might open up better after listening to them more than once.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Oh Yes! At the moment we are working on our debut album, we are actually recording demos just now. One can say that maybe we are going to a little bit darker road with those new songs. I’m very exited about our debut albums material because for the first time in bands history we are working together as a team from the beginning.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We have a few shows booked to early next year in Finland. We are heading abroad in the future, and we hope to get there as soon as possible!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Of course, release our second EP “Alone” in January 2023 and do lots of shows and not only in Finland but abroad as well. Then release our debut album and tour as much as possible! Our goal is to be an active, international band. Music is life!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

All well-known platforms like Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, YouTube, etc. Merch is available in our Official Segmentia Web

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We hope that one can flow and immerse themselves into a feeling that our music has evoked. That "something", some feeling, is a thing that we and the listener truly are sharing together and so, in a sense, no one is all alone while listening to our music.

Hardcore thrash death-grinders HOSTIA has a debut album out, which was then later re-released, with another album and an EP and singles as well. The band laughs it up and talks about conquering the world and music!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

St. Anacletus: Hostia was born in 2017 based on our long-time friendship. We are 2 countries band for now as part lives in Czech Republic and part in Poland. At some point in time all of our previous bands went to an end, and we had the need and fire inside for sth new. And here we are 5 years later with 3 albums and 1 EP! No need to blabber about us more – go listen to the music (laugh)!

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

St.A.: St.Sistus came up with it. It fits perfect. For Christians it is the body of Christ, for Spanish speaking people it is bad word – awesome! And it is simple, easy to remember and sounds good. It was pretty no brainer to pick.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

St.A.: As I said before we are based in Czech and Poland. There are so many great bands in Poland, I am a little less familiar with Czech bands but I can mention Gutalax for sure. From polish you for sure know the ones like Behemoth, Vader, Decapitated or Riverside, but there is so much more like Antigama, Hate, Squash Bowels, Terrordome, Shodan, Sacrofuck, Jad,… fuck – please google polish extreme bands cause I would write a 100 more names here and if I forget about sth they will hate me as we mostly know each other (laugh).

4. How would you describe your style?

St.A.: Brutal as fuck but groovy and a bit catchy (laugh). In my mind we are some kind of death-grind Frankenstein but I guess you can find some other accents like hardcore or thrash. The point is to remain brutal but to not record the same song over and over again. If you feel the need to bang your head while listening – then we succeeded!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

St.A.: Our debut – self-titled album came out in 2018 and was sold out and then re-released on CD and also couple variations of vinyl in 2021 via our label Deformeathing Prod. In 2020 we released “Carnivore Carnival” album and this year we have two brand new releases – EP “Resurrected Meat” and “Nailed”! I must admit that thanks to Wojtek – our label owner and his passion and support we have beautiful vinyl and CD releases with some extras added (mostly already sold out) so there is always a lot of collectible stuff that I would love to have on my shelf from the bands I like and from the feedback we have – it brings a lot of joy to our listeners too! Please check on and

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

St.A.: Not really. We are literally days after the release of “Nailed” album. 3 months earlier there was an EP so it was quite busy time – like to the first time ever we put two albums at the same time. I am collecting some ideas – that process never stops. It’s like whenever sth comes to my mind or I just sit with the guitar – I am trying to record it. And then after some time I go through it and check what is worth to work on. But it is too early. I still need to decompress from those two albums.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

St.A.: We are during some shows in Poland, have some confirmations for the next year, but for sure we are open for more to come. We’ll see what future brings!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

St.A.: Conquer the world! What else could that be (laugh)!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

And all digital platforms like Spotify, Amazon, Deezer, iTunes and so on!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

St.A.: Remember us enough to listen again! And again (laugh)!

Three years it’s been since last seeing death metal legends Cannibal Corpse. Having caught them on the east coast run of Slayer’s farewell tour in the summer of 2019. And before then, hadn’t seen them since years prior. But now that some time has gone by tonight would be the night of pure carnage! The Wiltern Theater would become a sold out venue for Los Angeles, California. The headliner’s being the obvious, with the opener’s being a co-headliner with Dark Funeral and other acts such as Immolation and Black Anvil.

Arriving at the venue in legit timing close to 7PM, would bring Black Anvil to the front, having their performance be fierce yet heavy. Their styling being purely black metal with some heavy metal thrash elements thrown in. Like their sound was heavy duty, raw, and dark. The crowd present was pleased with the results of these opener’s, being entertained throughout their set. Being slowly introduced to the various colors and shapes that would follow suite, while also hearing such songs as "The Bet", "8-Bit Terror", and "Grant Us His Love". Pure and simply the band kicked ass and surely are one to see again.

1. The Gates of Brass

2. In Two

3. The Bet

4. 29

5. 8-Bit Terror

6. Grant Us His Love

7. Castrum Doloris

Next up would be death metal band Immolation and they would make the crowd cheer from all sides of the venue. Their setlist consisted of such tracks as "Swarm of Terror", "Burial Ground", "When Halos Burn" and "Let the Darkness In". Now their set went rather quickly it appeared, as they hit he stage and were soon off the stage. But nevertheless, their stage presents provided great energy with a solid performance that kept everyone cheerful through and through really. Plus let it be said, that Immolation’s lighting work, and set-up brought on the education of shapes literally. Noting that their banner’s and again with lighting featured such shapes as triangles, squares, circles and rectangles.

1. Abandoned

2. An Act of God

3. The Age of No Light

4. Noose of Thorns

5. When the Jackals Come

6. Overtures of the Wicked

7. Burial Ground

8. Shed the Light

9. Of Martyrs and Men

10. When Halos Burn

11. Let the Darkness In

Now would be the co-headliner’s Dark Funeral, a Swedish black metal band whose time together is nearly 30 years together. This being one thing to keep in mind, as their setlist contained 10 tracks, “Hail Murder”, “When I’m Gone”, “Let the Devil In”, “Open the Gates”, and a secret of sorts with the track titled “The Secrets of the Black Arts”. During their set the band would make use of the lighting effects, having them change a variety of colors, red, orange, pink, black, green, yellow, purple etc. So you can say you learned your colors by checking out an act such as Dark Funeral, whose performance overall was moving yet crowd pleasing.

1. Uncahin My Soul

2. Hail Murder

3. Leviathan

4. My Funeral

5. The Secrets of the Black Arts

6. Open the Gates

7. When I'm Gone

8. Nail Them to the Cross

9. Let the Devil In

10. When Shadows Forever Reign

Last up would be headliner’s Cannibal Corpse, whose status as a whole is legendary. From start to finish with some minor breaks in-between tracks sung, would be a non-stop corpse fest that had a wide range of tracks from the band’s extensive catalog of works. Thus including “Fucked With a Knife”, “I Cum Blood”, “A Skull Full of Maggots”, “Kill or Become”, “Unleashing the Bloodthristy”, and “Hammer Smashed Face”, to name off just a few out of the close to 20 tracks performed tonight. The whole band brought full force entertainment, with no stopping whatsoever really, the frontman Corpsegrinder would entertain himself along with the crowd cracking jokes here and there. But with such a performance as his own, it was flawless yet brutal by the end of the night. Cannibal Corpse being the one to teach us about the human body, skeletal features and lots of blood, guts, and gore!

All in all though, this touring cycle would be wrapping up, having made Los Angeles a stop, that would be a sold out performance, with a mash up of death metal and black metal bands that would teach us a thing or two.

1. Scourge of Iron

2. The Time to Kill Is Now

3. Inhumane Harvest

4. Code of the Slashers

5. Fucked With a Knife

6. The Wretched Spawn
