Bring Me The Horizon - Sempiternal
One of many anticipated albums this year has to be Bring Me
The Horizon's "Sempiternal" its a set of 11-tracks that straight out
don't cut it. Their debut release and even follow-up in 2008 were better off than
this.
Bring Me The Horizon has taken a sharp left turn since 2010's
long titled release "There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a
Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret." Now their fourth album is upon them and
it just continues the 2010 trait never really returning to any periods before
then. The screams are presented but not quite there, the guitar structure is
done well enough that it's taken a Pink Floyd meets another type of rock ballad
type of work.
While everything else from even the singles offered
"Shadow Moses" and "Anti-vist", just doesn't make this
release very worthy of a listen. The material sounds matured and content for
what it is but it isn't who Bring The Horizon is or what they use to be. Band's
do mature and develop their style over the course of their careers and tons of
bands have shown this but in this case, Bring Me The Horizon should have stuck
to their previous guns of heavier riffs, louder screams, the older made
everything better.
