During the summer of 2004 another band was born, thus the death metal genre had Created To Kill. These guys have gone through a series of changes since their starting but all is well nowadays. So well in fact, it's lead down to this release a DVD calling itself "Worship Or Drive...The Road To Death's Construction". It consists of live performances, of 3 hours of content, ranging from live performances taking place during 2008 through 2013, with the added bonus of their official video for "Object Of Perfect Torture", along with slideshow after slideshow of photographs of them with the fans, performances, band practice, every inch of this band is covered and featured in this DVD.

If you're not familiar with Created To Kill, the band has released two full-length albums "Worship Or Die" (2008) and "Death's Construction" (2013) with new material to likely follow suit. As far as the DVD's contents go, it is filled with live performances from numerous festivals and showcases Monsterfest 2008, Akron Deathfest 2011, Gutfest 2013, and two tours the Worship Or Die Tour 2009 and Killing North America Tour 2013. The footage within these said performances isn't your average concert DVD as far as quality. All of the footage is shot by the looks of it, if not a cell phone camera of some sort, then perhaps a handheld digital camera or perhaps a professional camera. But if you take this and compare it to another concert DVD like Cannibal Corpse's "Live Cannibalism", or Deicide's "Doomsday In L.A. " is nowhere near those quality ranges, as far as professionalism goes.

It isn't a bad thing but the quality footage of each of these showcases could have been done in a more better fashion. The audio on the other hand sounds not as great as it could. In some performances it sounds too loud, while other shots it sounds hardly hearable at all. As far as the look, it is good quality you can see the audience and band playing forth, but some shots the context isn't all that "great" but it's good. The band's performance style itself, is well crafted, and the band keeps up with one another, having well rounded songs, within the death metal genre aspect. The instrumentals are fast, hard hitting material, while the lyrics aren't to the faint of heart, if you're not into gory, killing content, you get the idea.

Overall this DVD by Created To Kill isn't the greatest release but it is good for what it is. It shows a brief history of where the band had begun to where they ended up and plan to head next. Metal fans alike will surely be into this band, whether it'd be through this DVD or an album by them, it's a way to get into yet another band within the music scene.

It's been quite some time since last hearing anything from death metallers Created To Kill. These Kentucky metalheads got their start in 2004 which lead them to write and release demos, EPs and their first release "Worship Or Die" in 2008 then after a while nothing happened. Now that some time has passed on they went back to write and record all over again with the follow-up "Death's Construction".

"Murdered and Mutilated" was the first song offered off the release it's intensity alone is built solidly on vocals and fast guitar riffs with passionate rhythms happening left and right. "Corpse Collector", "Suffocated In A Bodybag", and "The Reaper Always Wins" are other worthy songs available on the release that again maintain that passionate yet intense reality of vocals and instrumental ability.

This time around Created To Kill has clearly outdone themselves and it indeed shows having them go beyond what was previously done.

A few years have past since Created To Kill's last release "Worship Or Die", now that time has come and gone for them they have been hard at work on a follow-up release that blows everything else away. Guitarist Steve Forbes talks about the process, songs, and when this album will be released, as well as touring info.

1. So tell me what has Created To Kill been up too since we last spoke?

Steve: After Worship Or Die went out and we played as many shows as we could to promote it and We got right back to writing as well.

2. Do you ever feel the pressure of being a trio band?

Steve: Yeah our Singer/Bass player has it the roughest doing double duty we have thought about adding a bassist so he could concentrate on vocals.

3. Where are you in the recording process of the new album?

Steve: The new CD is recorded it's being mixed now.

4. Who is producing the album? How has the producer aided the recording process?

Steve: Scott Briggs from the band Aeons Of Eclipse is producing. He helped us with using a click track
to perfect our timing on the recording.

5. Where are you recording the album?

Steve: Velocity Studios in Cave City, KY.

6. What label will be releasing the album?

Steve: Pagan Pride Records is in the US and Ungodly Ruin Productions in Europe.

7. How would you describe the overall sound of the new album? How does it compare to Worship or Die?

Steve: Fast and technical old school death metal. The songs on the new album have more structure and having a real drummer instead of the drum machine makes a whole world of difference.

8. Did the band have any definitive goals they were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?

Steve: We definitely wanted to step it up.

9. Are you using any new instrumentation you've never used in the recording process before?

Steve: Not really other than dropping our tuning a half step.

10. When did you start writing for this album? How was the songwriting process different/similar to previous Created to Kill albums?

Steve: We starting writing right after we finished touring in 2009. The process was pretty much the same we each come up with a song or 2 on our own then bring it to the band.

11. Worship or Die was a great success, did you feel any pressure to follow it up?

Steve: Not really we were never really happy with the production on Worship Or Die, but released it anyways. Death's Construction surpass's Worship Or Die in all aspects.Paul coming into the band really helped in the song writing.

12. Can you go into one or two tracks on the new album? If so, can you give us the track title and brief description of how the track sounds and how it came about?

Steve: Self Inflicted Flame Engulfment is one of my favorites it's reminiscent of early Cannibal Corpse full of trills and fake harmonics it was a collage of riffs i had been hanging onto for a while.

The Reaper Always Wins is another one while others took me months to write this one took 2 weeks it all just fell together it was the last track to be written weeks before we were to record it is similar to later Nile in parts.

13. How was the vibe in the studio?

Steve: The vibe was laid back, but intense on perfection.

14. When can we expect the new album to be released?

Steve: The new album will be out in the US on Pagan Pride Records this summer and in the fall in Europe on Ungodly Ruin Productions.

15. What plans do you have for the near future as a band?

Steve: We will be embarking on a 13 date tour in June to promote the new CD including playing the Las Vegas Deathfest and the Foothills Gutfest in Colorado.

1. First off I'd like to ask how did your holidays go and did you have any New Year's resolutions?

Steve: Main resolutions is to play as many shows as possible to promote the new CD!

2. What has the response been so far for "Worship Or Die"?

Steve: Pretty good, it's been going really well!

3. How did the band's sound progress from The Split CD to Worship Or Die?

Steve: We got a lot more technical more complex songs and a lot of the stuff a on the split were the first two demos were put on the split.

4. Where did the album title come from?

Steve: It was a lyric in one of the songs was "Kingdom Of Death," and it was part of the chorus so took it from there.

5. What inspired the lyrics for this album?

Steve: Mostly various different things some political and some based on other things horror movies, the whole album is political.

6. Have any absolute favorite horror movie?

Steve: The Evil Dead Series and anything by George A. Romero.

7. Do you or the band have any pre-concert rituals?

Steve: Nothing in particular just practice, we don't do any drinking just play straight forward and focus on what we're doing and then go party afterwards.

8. Have you guys heard of a festival called the Los Angeles Murderfest? Would you be interested in playing it?

Steve: Yea, we would be totally interested in playing it but no offers to play it yet. We have a few festivals out here some happening in May.

9. What was the first concert you attended as a fan?

Steve: It was pretty awesome really back in 1991 "Clash of the Titans," with Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer!

10. What was the most memorable tour experience for you?

Steve: Probably playing out in the middle of the wilderness, we opened for Wacko Jesus in the middle of a cornfield. *Laughs*

11. What do you do when you're not on stage or in the studio? Do you have a "day job"?

Steve: I just got laid off but at the moment just working full time on music and sending our music out to the labels.

12. Was there ever a record that you didn't go out on tour to support it?

Steve: No this is really our first full length LP since the split, we pretty much just play constantly.

13. Any thoughts or comments?

Steve: Thanks for doing this interview and the reviews real good and catch us out on the road this summer, heading out to Texas and then to Kansas and then back up here this summer!
