January 2023

Australian pre-school animated television series Bluey; came into the mix back in 2018 and come 2020 it just blew up into such an unbelievable show and series, as a whole that even now in 2023 it's still going strong. So much so, that in fact it’s going on tour in a live production show titled you guessed it well sort of, not really “Bluey Live” BUT instead “Bluey’s Big Play”!

It making it’s rounds across the U.S. hitting California as it were, coming down to Los Angeles in the city of Hollywood! Playing as a part of Broadway in Hollywood, and taking place out of all places the Dolby Theater, where yes all of the red carpeted events, like the Oscars among others would be held!

Various musicals have been shown at this venue as of late, including Bluey! "Bluey's Big Play" is a live stage show based on the television series Bluey. Except this show is live in-person with personal working personal puppets the size of people! Each of the puppet's facial expressions like eyes and eyebrows, arms and legs, can be moved by the puppeteer. If a prop is need this is also where the puppeteer comes in handy, get it? Also the puppeteers present do not provider the voice over work, all the audio used was pre-recorded and used as a voice over via the track provided for the entirety of the show, including the music itself.

The show itself follows the family known as the Heeler's, as they spend a full day from the sun going up to the sun going down for the day right into the night time for bedtime! Bluey and her sister Bingo want to keep their dad Bandit from reading on his phone, plus Bluey's mom Chilli talk of being a good big sister and example for Bingo. The show runs for 50 minutes, whilst the actual Bluey television episodes last a good 8 minutes each, so it's about six times the length of an episode, but I'd say just not long enough for a live stage show such as Bluey. I say they could have easily extended the run time to perhaps 60 if not maybe 90 minutes at the maximum. But perhaps another live stage show will consider it and tell another story of the Heeler family!

All in all though, “Bluey’s Big Play” was a success out in Hollywood, for a 2PM afternoon show, which was close to selling out completely. Seats were filled with happy faces with lots of families in tow. The show may have not been very long in time length, but it was worth the time spent, witnessing a what could be likely called someday soon a TV icon Bluey come to life on stage, spreading smiles, giggles, and pure joy under one roof out in tinsel town.

Rock n' rollers THE ALMAS have an EP as well as two full-length albums under their belts, with a handful of tours already lined up for this year alone. Much else is in the works as well, just wanting people to follow their music, dreams, and all else really. The band discusses of their music, touring plans and more below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band was formed in 2016. However Frank Slifka is the founder and only original member. The band is now comprised of Crystal Teigland (vocals), Frank Slifka (lead guitarist), Josh Sukowski (rhythm guitar), and Andrew Ehredt (drums)

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The word originated from the Spanish word for ‘soul’. At the time of the band's formation, Frank was struggling with an alcohol addiction along with quitting his previous project. He was trying to find his “soul” hence the band name.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based out of a very small town in Wisconsin called New Munster. The music scene in the area however is anything but small. Plus the quality of music that is coming out of Wisconsin is nothing but superb. I would highly recommend checking out Lines Of Loyalty, Sanity Tragedy, and Embers Rise, just to name a few.

4. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

The band has released an EP and two full length albums to date. People can expect strong female leads backed by rippin guitar licks and monster drums. We try to keep the music simple and honestly it's all just Rock n Roll.

5. Do you have any new music in the works?

We recently just released our newest single entitled ‘Cage’ of our newest EP. That EP however will not be available till late 2023. We will be releasing a few more songs from the EP in the coming months.

6. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

There are a number of tours lined up for the year. You can always follow our socials and keep up to date with all our upcoming shows. We are planning to tour in Alaska this summer which is something we have talked about for quite some time.

7. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Keep touring and meeting more people. We also have plans to record more music at the end of the year. We love being out on the road. We tend to be the best version of ourselves when we are doing what we love.

8. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

The band’s entire discography can be found across all streaming platforms. If you wish to buy a CD or other merchandise from us, you can directly do so on our website at almastheband.com/shop.

9. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We are just normal people following our dreams, in hopes to help and inspire others to do the same.

Melodic folk rock act SANO HILL is a singer/songwriter whose been doing music, writing songs all his life. With this, he has released some tracks here and there, with an album out this year, with plans on a tour and much else in-store too! He talks of his creativity, music, and further plans with us.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

I’m a singer/songwriter that has been writing songs pretty much all my life. I began releasing some tracks in the early noughties on compilation albums produced by a local Galway label and then over the past 12 months I’ve been releasing singles, 5 to date, in advance of the release of my debut album. For the single tracks released to date, I’ve been collaborating with session musicians through an initiative called Dublin Studio Hub founded by Larry Hogan and Larry has produced all the singles I’ve released and is collaborating with me on the album right now. Larry has worked with some of the leading Irish and internationally known artists including Bob Geldof, Gerry Fish, Ronan Keating, and Brian Kennedy. The final mastering on the album is being done by Braddon Williams, one of the leading engineers working in the music industry at present – he has worked with some of the top artists in the world including Beyonce, Snoop Dogg, Mark Ronson, Il Divo, Wyclef Jean, Billy Joel, Kelly Clarkson, P Diddy, The Script and many more and did the final mix and master on my forthcoming single “Dancer” to be released on February 10.

I have gigged in Ireland and in the US, particularly the city of Milwaukee where I lived for some time and where I performed in venues across the city, including a weekly residency in ‘The Black Shamrock,’ a popular live music venue. I also was featured at Milwaukee's famous Irish Fest, the largest Irish festival in the world attracting over 100,000 people.

I have gigged in venues across Ireland, including a monthly residency in Galway’s legendary live venue Róisín Dubh – I was also featured on the Heineken Rollercoaster, Ireland's leading student tour where I played support with my band at the time, Delphian, to top Irish bands including Revelino and Sheer.

My first recorded releases, appeared on the compilation ‘Origin, See the Light’ from Galway based record company Origin Records. The album was well received and my contributions in particular received wide critical acclaim.

Another of my songs was included on the album New Horizons, a compilation of best of the in studio sessions from Galway's local station GalwayBayFM, which also includes contributions from leading Irish acts The Four of Us, Picture House (I have also played support gigs for both acts), The Devlins, Sineád Lohan, and Juliet Turner.  However my contribution “The Mirror” was described in Hot Press as one of “the real gems” on the release.

A further song I wrote and performed with my then band ‘Three-piece sweet’ was featured on the acclaimed album Inundations, which also featured music from leading international acts, including Josh Ritter, Ron Sexsmith, Lloyd Cole, Damien Rice, Mundy and The Frames.

After spending some time away from recording and performing I returned to songwriting and recording during the lockdown(s!) as a way to come to terms with and understand the extraordinary times we were living through.

While much of the writing and initial recording was done in a small studio (i.e. shed  ) behind my house in Galway, the final songs on the album were recorded in Dublin’s legendary Windmill Studios (associated with such legendary acts as U2, The Rolling Stones, Depeche Mode, David Bowie, Elvis Costello and Van Morrison. )

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Sano Hill is a hill near where I grew up in Cavan (Ireland) – it’s somewhere that has personal and special meaning to me and somewhere I go back to when I can for headspace and inspiration

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I’m based in Galway in the West of Ireland – There is generally a vibrant music scene in Galway, though regrettably original music has found it harder to get a venue – Róisín Dubh being an important exception. The pandemic of course shut down performance for an extended period but the music scene is very much coming back to life again.

4. How would you describe your style?

I’m always the worst person to try to describe my own music! I guess it’s a melodic rock or folk rock sound in that my songs begin on an acoustic guitar and with melodies that emerge over time before words come together.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

As I mentioned above I released some tracks on compilation albums some time back but over the last 12 months I’ve released 5 singles – ‘The Climb’, ‘Starting Over’, ‘CircleWalk’, ‘Sing Out Loud’, and ‘Feel Love’ with a sixth due out on Feb. 10 – ‘Dancer’. I try to put soul and integrity into my songs and music – they are all emerging from real emotions and scenarios that either I or people close to me have experienced and I try to communicate real emotions with integrity and bring deeper meaning through the lyrics. I collaborated with some extraordinary musicians – particularly Larry Hogan and engineer Braddon Williams – so you get a full band experience in all my songs, including brass, strings and effects – we tried to  bring new ideas to production as well (including a recording of a plane taking off on ‘Sing Out Loud’!) to add to the soundscape.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes – the album features 11 tracks and will be coming out later in the Spring (hopefully!) – I have a lot more music in the background that I’ll be working on for follow-up releases.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

I’ve started gigging in the past few months and am currently putting a touring band together with the intention of hitting the road during the summer

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Firstly to get the album out there and then to tour and make more music!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

So the music is on all streaming platforms and on YouTube (where you can find videos for all my songs) – you can also find me on soundcloud with additional tracks and works in progress. I have a bandcamp site too - https://sanohill.bandcamp.com/ - where you can buy my music and (soon!) other merch.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The soul, the sound, I hope the music and songs can bring the listener somewhere else, somewhere they may want to go imaginatively and perhaps stay for a while and return. And they may want to move their bodies around a bit while there.

Having liked different types and styles of music, the band known as DREAMS AND BLOOM have a video out now titled "Little Brother". With newer music being worked on constantly, but for now they want people to hear their recent album release "Through Obstacles". The band discusses these releases and what the future holds.

1. Please tell us a bit of history on your band.

We are a two piece band, brothers David and Goran Mihaljević. We’ve been playing together ever since we were kids, which eventually and naturally led us to form Dreams & Bloom in January 2020. The band officially formed after one night when we met up to write something together just for fun. That writing session quickly made us realized that there was something special going on. Special in the sense that it felt effortless. A few days later we started talking about the idea of writing a whole album. The first song we wrote was “By My Side” , which is now part of our debut album “Through Obstacles”.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name was actually floating around for years now. The idea was to find a name that would let us open different doors musically and not tie us to one specific genre or sound. So when it finally came time to pick a name for the band, Dreams & Bloom was the obvious choice.

3. Where’s the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re currently based in Frankfurt, Germany but we grew up in Bosnia and Herzegovina. There really was no music scene growing up there. Or at least not the type of scene we aspired to. Therefor we based our musical standards on bands we would listen to.

4. How would you describe your style?

It’s really the same like with the band name, our style is not specific or tied to one specific genre because we like different types of music. Or course, we believe that every artist has that “something” that makes them what they are and makes them sound how they sound but it’s more of a subconscious thing that we really can’t point out. People should decide for themselves. At the end of the day, they’ll do it anyway.

5. Please tell us about the upcoming video premiere.

Our upcoming video for “Little Brother” premieres Thursday, January 26th. The song is close to our hearts and deeply personal. The video is by far the most personal video we released yet. We hope that people enjoy it!

6. Do you have any other new music in the works?

We’re working on music constantly. There’s plans for releasing new music and just content in general in the next weeks/months. At the moment though, we’re focusing on spreading the word so people can hear our album “Through Obstacles” and get an idea of what the band is about.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Playing live is a huge deal for us and something we really wanna push. We’ve been getting offers to play so that’s exciting. Presenting these songs live to people is something we’re looking forward to!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Our goal is to keep writing music that we enjoy and hope that others find value and an escape in it…We want to tour the world, inspire and make our mark as a band and individuals.

9. Where can we listen, and where can we buy your stuff?

You can find our EP “Let it Rain” and debut album “Through Obstacles on all streaming platforms (iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Deezer etc).

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

When writing music, number one thing for has always been honesty and that’s pretty much it. Simple as that. We truly hope that people hear that when listening to our music. One thing we know is that writing and performing these songs keeps helping us overcome tough times and gives us the strength to come out stronger on the other side.

Emo up and comer DAIN GRIFFIN has his 90's/00's style kept in check, with the release of his upcoming debut album "Dead Flowers", with much else in the works as well! See what else he had to say about his music, himself, and more music coming forth soon enough.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

My name is Dain and I used to play in a 90’s style emo band called Merit.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

My mom saw the name Dain in a baby book and liked the way it was spelled. I didn’t really have a say in the matter but I’ve grown to like it.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I am based in Las Vegas. I haven’t been here long enough to know much about the music scene but I have played with some cool bands like No Red Alice, Rayner and Mercy Music.

4. How would you describe your style?

90’s/00’s style emo music mixed with singer song writer.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Dead Flowers is my debut album.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Dead Flowers is due out 2/3/23!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

I will be playing some release shows in Phoenix, LA and Vegas in the next few months.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Probably release some more music.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can stream the music under the name Dain Griffin on your preferred streaming app. You can preorder Dead Flowers on vinyl at www.HiddenHomerécords.com.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I try not to take myself so seriously but write about my life experience and I hope it resonates with the listener.

The time has come! Shadows loom over North America with an ominous silence hanging in the air as heaven and hell alike prepare to witness: “Klash Of The Titans.” German thrash legends KREATOR have joined forces with Brazilian metal giants SEPULTURA for an unrivaled North American co-headline tour in May and June of 2023.

Since the mid-80s, the two bands have shaped heavy music like few others by always sticking to their ferocious guns. At the same time, they’ve never shied away from re-inventing themselves: going from strength to strength and leaving a path of scorched earth in their trailblazing wakes. With new albums Hate Über Alles and Quadra towering strong at the peak of their respective discographies, these Titans are truly standing taller than ever in 2023.

KREATOR’s Mille Petrozza states, ‘I’m really happy to be back in the US this May with the mightiest of all…SEPULTURA. A new ‘Klash Of The Titans’ partnership and an absolutely stacked bill from start to finish. I’m looking forward to checking out SPIRITWORLD live – a great new band with big riffs. Plus sharing the stage with the legendary DEATH ANGEL. Awesome! Can’t wait…see you in the pit!’

SEPULTURA’s Andreas Kisser adds: “I’m very excited to be back in North America with our friends and my personal idols Kreator! They were a very strong influence in our early days, and it’s great to see they are stronger than ever, which is how I feel with SEPULTURA as well. It's going to be a historical run. Thrilled to have our brothers from DEATH ANGEL and the awesome SPIRITWORLD with us. Do not miss this, metal is alive and well, so let’s celebrate ‘Klash of the Titans North America 2023’ on the road! See you all soon!“

Post punk act NIGHTBIRD CASINO have been a band for a while, releasing two album's so far, with a lot more music in the works, right no as we speak! The band talks of new music, and what plans are ahead with said music.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Currently the band is made up of myself; James Moore (vocals, guitar) as well as Oliver Collins (drums), Landon Strine (bass), and Amanda Moore (keys, ondes martenot). We started in 2017. I was based in LA at the time and playing guitar in a band called I Lit a Fire. The drummer of that band – Kelly Hutchinson – and I decided to start a side project to explore some of our more experimental musical tendencies. After about six months we gave the project its current name (Nightbird Casino) and recorded an EP. Then I moved to Texas and he moved to the Bay Area and we went on hiatus – permanently I thought. A few years later – right around when the pandemic happened – I had moved to Oregon and Kelly came to visit; we hadn’t seen each other in a few years at this point. Almost immediately after he got here the lockdowns happened and we were stuck in my house – so over the next month we turned it into a home studio and started recording some of our earlier songs … after a few weeks we realized we had an album’s worth of really eclectic music so we released it as our first LP, Gregorian Nap. The next year we brought on Amanda and Oliver. We recorded a second album, Russian Carpet. In late 2021, Kelly left to pursue a solo career and we hired Landon on bass. The current band has been playing shows and writing non-stop for the last year.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

I wish we had a more exciting story to tell, but we just sat in a bar and wrote words and phrases on a napkin trying to come up with a band name – “Nightbird” was one suggestion and “Casino” was another. We liked how they sounded together.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We formed in LA originally but currently we’re based in southern Oregon, near Ashland. There’s a small music scene here. It’s definitely small but very supportive and close-knit. Slow Corpse is a great band that came out of the Ashland music scene recently. Elk Witch is another up and coming band to watch. We’ve played some shows with them, really love their music.

4. How would you describe your style?

Recently we’ve been compared to Interpol, She Wants Revenge, The National, and Bauhaus – but that’s probably mainly because of my vocals. I think I’d describe us as post-punk revival indie art rock. Definitely some shoegaze influence in there as well.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We’ve released two albums: Gregorian Nap in 2020 and Russian Carpet in 2021. We just released our latest single “Sunglasses After Sex” on December 17.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We’re constantly writing. We’ve got a third album in the works. We’re planning on a late 2023 release this year – and three or four more singles over the next few months! Our next single should be dropping in February.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Currently, we’ve got two local shows on March 3 and March 10, I’m sure more will be added – we’re also planning some tours of the west coast for later this year to support the new record.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We’re in it to win it, whatever that means. We’re going to keep making music until it isn’t fun or fulfilling anymore, and I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to us wherever you stream music. We’re on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, you name it … you can also check out our YouTube channel for our official music and lyric videos as well as some live performances. You can buy our merch (and physical copies of the albums, if that’s your thing) at www.nightbirdcasino.com/store.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I’d say thank you for supporting us – it means the world. And I’d like any listener to create their own meaning – I’d say that about any music though, not just ours. The beautiful thing about music – good music – is that it’s going to touch everyone in different ways. My lyrics may be obtuse on first listen, but I think everyone will find they can relate to what we’re saying. I’d also say I think there’s something here for everyone … we try to incorporate elements of every genre and style into our music and I’d like to think it shows.

Melodic heavy go getters INHERENTLY LOST have released one EP so far, with newer music in the works already and expected this summer! The band's guitarist Joe discusses their time together, music, and much more.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We started out about 5 years ago or so. It took some time to find the right line up. But after a drummer and bass player change within the last 2 years, we now have our solid line up. We have Andrew Salzano on bass, Mikey Woolard on drums, Mark Moats on keys/vocals, Noreen Javersak on vocals and myself Joe Matijasic on guitar.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Mark found it in a book he was reading. It was in a line that read "In a world full of consumption, we are all inherently lost".

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of the Youngstown area of Ohio. The music scene here is pretty diverse, which is cool and makes it interesting. I would recommend the bands Trephine and heavy hitters Kitchen Knife Conspiracy.

4. How would you describe your style?

We are heavy, but yet melodic at times. Fast, but yet slow at times. We like to mix it up and keep things interesting.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We released one E.P. so far, with 4 original tracks. One can expect a hell of a ride from our music!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We do. We are currently working on and recording our first full length album which we're expecting to release in June 2023. With our first single from it being released early February 2023.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out? We have a few shows booked so far for 2023, but our main focus is finishing up our new album and getting it out there.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band? Like I said, we plan on finishing and releasing our new album this year. Also, booking more shows and getting our music out to as many people as possible.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Can listen to us on most platforms. YouTube, Spotify, Apple music, etc.

Our merch and first E.P. are available at inherentlylost.bigcartel.com

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The journey it takes them on. This one is done by Joe our guitar player.

Alan Grnja (vocals) comments: "The inspiration for that came from animated shows in the 90s where Spider Man would team up with X-Men and stuff like that! We did that on a track in 2020 called 'Argent Debt' where we had five other people. We were inspired by being on tour in America and so many of us jumping up onstage and playing together. Every vocalist on this track sounds unique. It's a bright, colorful rainbow of Deathcore singers!"
