March 2017

Mylee's Dying Wish is an up-and-coming band that has been through a lot, since it's formation sometime ago. But since then, the band has gone on to write and record for one release titled "Beauty Of Transformation", with current plans on the follow-up release titled "Gensis Fallen Chapter". Frontman vocalist and co-founder Brenden Alexander, discusses their past release, and current process with the new release, and whatever else these guys have got lined-up between now and the rest of this year!

1. Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Mylee's Dying Wish, and how long the band has been together?

Brenden: I'm Brenden Alexander, vocalist and co-founder of the band. This band has been around for 3 years now.

2. Your name is Mylee's Dying Wish, who is Mylee?

Brenden: Mylee was an old friend of mine, which I have known since our time together, during middle school of 2006. She is an out-going and awesome person to hang out with!

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Brenden: We're based in the metropolis of Indianapolis, IN. A lot of great bands come to Indy and jam-out! Sadly though, we don't know any artists that are close to us, so we couldn't really recommend any, right now.

4. Would you say that the creature featured on the artwork for "Beauty Of Transformation" is Mylee?

Brenden: Yes. The creature from Beauty of Transformation is Mylee. Whi is our beloved mascot!

5. How would you say that "Beauty Of Transformation" and "Genesis Fallen Chapter" are different, comparable, and equal to one another?

Brenden: Beauty Of Transformation was a rough demo that had two tracks on it, "Possessive Kiss" and "My Beautiful Damnation". Both will be featured on the "Genesis Fallen Chapter" EP, that is going to take a different prospect format, with mature writing and materials to make the tracks from before sound totally different!

6. Does "Beauty Of Transformation" and "Genesis Fallen Chapter" have any connections to one another, like a continuation of a theme or story or anything?

Brenden: Beauty Of Transformation does have a story to it. Due to the concept writing of it, it's about being under possession, while also being damned by the so called society, with our own souls being trapped within a doll, if that makes any sense. Did I mention that the doll wonders across the Astral plains as well? That is what these stories will be about, the telling of this as well as the beautiful abomination that's cast out of heaven, as she wonders around in the holy valley, as she spends her time at the spring, where the garden once existed. It will comes together and will make better sense when the album comes out.

7. Where are you in the recording process of the new EP?

Brenden: We are on the final production of the album right now. It will be laid out with the vocals and instruments, going through the album, from start to finish, making sure everything sounds just right, before it gets released, which will be very soon.

8. Who produced "Genesis Fallen Chapter" and what was it like working with them?

Brenden: Brian Bones was the one to produce and engineer this album, he worked on it, over at The Lodge Studio, which is on the North Side of Indy.

9. Who did the cover art for "Genesis Fallen Chapter" and how much input did you have on it?

Brenden: Koery Smith, was the one we worked with, for the concept artwork to go with this album. If you love seeing trippy things with awesome backgrounds, then this is the album for you!

10. Is there any story or concept behind the "Genesis Fallen Chapter" title?

Brenden: "Genesis Fallen Chapter" has some themes to it's title. One is mainly the theme revolving around the girl, and her legacy of ruling the holy valley. That place was branded by the Catholics, as the forbidden valley, due to God's abomination living within the holy circle itself. This caused the artifacts to be scattered within the spring, that no one even knew that was even a secret within it.

11. What label will be releasing the EP?

Brenden: We're not signed as of right now. We're thinking about releasing our first mini album independently ourselves.

12. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Brenden: The theme of the songs, goes with a dark theme, dealing with damnation, beauty, God, legacy, as well as the stars, and everything hidden in-between. It's a very in-depth process really.

13. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Brenden: I write the songs, but I write them in a whole another format. My form really takes people by surprise and it makes it, like no one else has ever done with music writing. It has such a different style, that it brings out an aggressiveness, and melodic tones to it, that it makes it compact into such an amazing piece of art!

14. Who are your musical influences?

Brenden: That would have to be Dani Filth of Cradle Of Filth, I'd really want to thank him for giving me and us as a band, the strength to push ourselves forward with making our dream a reality. Besides him, there are so many great artists out there, that can give anyone a great imagination to write some awesome tracks, to just turn out to be wickedly awesome!

15. How do you describe your music to people?

Brenden: Our music has a really nice dark element, with a nice melodic feel to it! Like our music is perfect for people who love, those crazy guitar riffs and solos, that have that melodic feeling to it. It's really meant for those who want to have a smoke, while enjoying our music, it's just that trippy!

Just days after revealing her brand new artistic alter ego, dark pop artist HOLDN has released her debut single, “BURN,” with an accompanying music video. Mysterious and gritty, she unleashes an infectious, yet smooth synth-pop sound on her first solo track. HOLDN also provides listeners with an immediate visual in her rawest form, a music video that gives a small taste of real-life Gina Petro’s innovative alter ego. An alternative rock veteran, HOLDN is no stranger to stepping on to the stage and giving her audiences a place to feel safe in being who they are and giving them an electric, interactive performance that keeps her fans coming back for more. About the track, HOLDN states:

“‘BURN’ was and always will be one of the most special songs I have ever written. I had over 100 demos that I needed to sift through to narrow it down to the first song I would release to this world. During that process, my grandparents came over for a visit one afternoon that I was sitting in my basement sifting through demos. I invited my pop-pop downstairs to listen to some of the demos I had set aside for myself to listen to that day and after going through a few of the demos, ‘BURN’ came up. He stopped me from changing it and told me how much he loved it and made me play it again. Just a few short months later, my pop-pop unfortunately passed away. ‘BURN’ is about someone walking out of my life without warning and that person staying within close enough proximity to watch me struggle to stand back up while they continue on as if my pain was non-existent.”

New York City’s own self-proclaimed ‘rhythmic disciple’, HOLDN has made quite the arrival upon her first step into pop music with her debut single, ‘BURN’. She brings a full plate of emotion and honesty with a sharp-toothed side of unapologetic wit to the pop table, while graciously luring you in with her mysterious aesthetic and soulful, yet haunting, melodies. Hailing from the alt-rock world, she has previously stepped into the spotlight at festivals such as Vans Warped Tour & Skate and Surf Festival and onto stages across the country including Webster Hall, Starland Ballroom, and many more. She is tasteful, yet daring; but also shockingly enough, HOLDN is an ‘alter ego’ who just so happens to be herself in its most revealing form. “BURN” the video can be seen HERE.

Whether it comes to getting praise from Simon Cowell on this past season of “America’s Got Talent”, rapping about the joys of relaxation and “Vacation”, or crossing genre lines to a harder rap/rock intensity with famed metal band Unlocking the Truth for “Rockstar”- 12-year-old hip-hop sensation Sky Katz seems to be continually turning up the heat on this new year. And with that same drive and can’t-stop-won’t-stop attitude, she’s released her third single of 2017- “Beautiful Girl” featuring another rising star from Long Island, 11 year-old singer/songwriter Alex Boyarski! Go have a listen to "Beautiful Girl" HERE.

Hailing from Long Island NY, hip-hop Pioneer and BMI Recording Artist Sky Katz has been hitting the ground running in the music industry since discovering her talent and passion for rapping at the age of 5. Sky has kept the momentum up ever since with her dynamic, witty, and energetic style with an old school chemistry.

With her recent appearance on America's Got Talent, she wowed the panel judges (and audience) with her single "Fresh". Her single "Haters" (A re-vamp of Biz Markie's "Just A Friend") followed suit shortly after, which received critical acclaim and positive reception worldwide. Following the performances, she obtained thousands of followers from across the globe on her Instagram and YouTube pages, and is currently focused on driving her career forward.

Doing another 180-degree turn from the ferocity of her recent “Rockstar” release- “Beautiful Girl” is contrarily dedicated to all girls around the world who maybe going through self esteem issues. It is Sky’s wish to partner with a pediatric cancer foundation, as well as other similar organizations to promote "girl power."

With “Beautiful Girl” (OUT NOW!) featuring singer/songwriter Alex Boyarski adding yet another incredible single to her already stellar repertoire, and her first full-length album coming soon.

Thy Will Be Done has released a new video, explaining what the band has been up for the past year and a half. They describe it as "New Thy Will Be Done Guitarist & New Music - Thy Will Be Done Drummer, Jay Waterman, survives cardiac arrest amidst tracking new album, band finds new lead guitarist via social media 'want ad' and continue to complete new album. Footage of tracking new album as well as personal interviews surrounding the bands trials and tribulations experienced over the past year and a half. (Yes, we're aware of the title...we're paying homage)." Check out the video HERE.

DC metal band GLOOM has signed a worldwide deal with Entertainment One Music / Lifeblood Inc. and is releasing an all new track today titled “Cede” exclusively via Metalsucks. “We couldn't be happier to be a part of the Lifeblood and eOne family," says the band. "We've been hunkered down working so hard that I don't think the reality has set in for all of us. We're just really grateful to have such high a quality team backing us." GLOOM will release their debut full length, Solaris, on June 2, 2017.

"'SOLARIS' is our first full length and while we were writing the album we really wanted to bring all our individual influences to the table and create something dynamic. We really want to carve out our own niche in metal and SOLARIS is a big step in that direction. For us, 'Cede' is a good musical representation of some of the different styles you'll hear on the album.  Lyrically, it's about breaking the cycle of a bad on-off relationship I had for years and finding a place where I could grow out of those feelings."

GLOOM will be opening the Devastation on the Nation Festival Tour throughout the US and Canada from 5/19-6/11 alongside Cryptopsy, Decrepit Birth, Rivers of Nihil, The Zenith Passage, The Kennedy Veil, Visceral Disgorge, and Seeker via Continental Concerts USA. Presented by MetalSucks.

With Our Arms To The Sun, have been hard at work, writing and recording for the follow-up to 2014's "A Far Away Wonder". During this time, they have come to complete the new album titled "Orenda" to be released via Dimension Records! Guitarist/vocalist Josh, discusses the new album, and what plans they have in-store for it, and the rest of this year!

1. What role do you play in the band?

Josh: Hi I'm Josh I play guitar and sing.

2. With Our Arms To The Sun is your namesake, but why is that? Does the name represent a meaning or is it just a name?

Josh: We usually like to leave it up to the listener to find their own meaning. To me, it has to do with hope.

3. What has influenced your sound and style?

Josh: I spent about 15 years playing in bands with Joseph Leary and doing creative projects with my other brother Joseph Breckenridge. Our philosophy has always kind of been to create the art, music, and media that we felt was missing or necessary in the landscape. That is what influences us. If something doesn’t exist that you crave artistically, make it.

4.What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Josh: We cover a pretty broad spectrum. For Orenda, we took a more concept album approach and agreed on the theme being someone struggling to understand what their existence is, and what it all means. As the journey progresses the character confronts himself, his hopes, fears, and ego. Eventually, he transcends these things and makes his grand exit.

5. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Josh: We are big into tech. We all have small studios in our house and sort of fly ideas around digitally until we enjoy the direction, then we will meet in person, jam and finalize concepts. We are never in a rush. Good art can take time, so we are patient with the process and aware that there are times to create and times to be still and remove yourself from the art.

6. How do you describe your music to people?

Josh: I usually don’t.

7. What image do you think your music conveys?

Josh: I think it is different for everyone depending on your life experience. I would like to think it reaches deep for people, that is always the goal.

8. You will soon be releasing your new album, can you tell me a little bit about it?

Josh: This record was very fun to make. We worked with Buzz Osborne from the Melvins on structures and concepts in Los Angeles for awhile. When it came time to track and mix we rented a small house in the middle of the desert in northern Arizona and lived there for awhile hanging out, experimenting, bonding, etc. The album sort of wrote itself, it was a good time to be in that location and the universe abided haha.

9. What is the concept behind the album and how did the idea come about?

Josh: The idea came about to try to understand and tell the story of existence, consciousness, etc in a way we had not seen the story told before.

10. What is your favorite song on the record and why?

Josh: My favorite song on the record is called The War: Light the Shadows. It has some strange elements of chanting, 4 part screaming bridges, and cinematic push. It was very fun and therapeutic for me to set up a vocal mic in a room and scream the chorus of the song with my entire band at once at the top of our lungs while playing tribal percussion instruments.

11. What can fans expect from the new With Our Arms To The Sun album?

Josh: It is similar to past releases, the biggest change is more vocals that any other record. Also, we hid lots of sonic easter eggs intentionally in Orenda to see if people pick them all up and decipher them. It is like a puzzle box in some ways the more you hear it which was very fun for us.

12. What was the writing and recording process like for the album?

Josh: See above.

13. Why do you think people should check out your new album once released?

Josh: We do not really care or put much energy into that. We just create our art and release it and trust that it will find its audience.

14. How would you say you differ from other bands and artists on the scene?

Josh: We are the antithesis to the mainstream music machine. We do not really have an image we are just older nerdy armchair philosophers who make art. Our songs are never formatted or “radio friendly”. We do not care about any of that shit really, not even the business itself. We have the means to make records so we always will, like it or not.

15. What do you want to achieve as a band?

Josh: We just want to keep making records and touring. We already abandoned creature comforts years ago to be able to live like pirates in a van and travel into the unknown, so we want to just continue that life until we are too old to do it anymore. :)

16. What does next year hold for With Our Arms To The Sun?

Josh: We have Orenda coming out. Expect tour dates to support that. Expect a limited edition vinyl release around summertime with bonus content. We just released a web series called “Astral Transmissions”. It is a series of mini documentaries featuring people from all walks of life you have experienced paranormal things, abductions, haunting's, near-death experiences, spiritual awakenings, etc. The web series is an extension of the philosophy I mentioned earlier, we are creating the media we feel needs to exist and offering it up to the masses.

17. Describe With Our Arms To The Sun in three words.

Josh: Beer, football, pussy.

Beginner guitarists are almost always frustrated with not knowing how to tune their guitar. Meanwhile, touring musicians spend vital minutes during sets to manually switch their instrument from one complicated tuning to the next. No matter your experience level, tuning can be a chore and take time away from playing.

Today Band Industries announces the release of Roadie 2 on Kickstarter - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/roadietuner/roadie-2-and-roadie-bass-automatic-instrument-tune?utm_source=CM&utm_campaign=E2_W, an upgraded version of their original automatic guitar tuner. Proven to be 3x more accurate than the human ear, it takes the guesswork out of tuning by doing it for you. It is as easy as a place, pluck and twist.

When put on any of the pegs, it analyzes the vibrations from a plucked guitar string to know its current pitch. Then, its motor rotates the peg until it’s perfectly tuned. It takes just 30 seconds to tune an entire guitar into any alternate tuning you choose. This process can be easily duplicated to offer musicians of all experience levels the best sound their instrument can produce.

“I think the concept is fantastic,” says Spike Edney, who played guitar live with Queen. “You don’t know how bloody difficult it is to keep a twelve string in tune. As far as I’m concerned, this is a major leap forward.” Edney is just one of many well-known musicians who have testified to Roadie’s powerful capabilities. Others include guitarists from Drowning Pool, Grand Funk Railroad and The Cars.

With a brand new OLED screen and knob interface, Roadie 2 is now simpler and easier to use. The compact design and powerful hardware can tune electric, acoustic, classical, and steel guitars, 7 and 12-string guitars, ukuleles, mandolins and banjos. For bass guitarists, Band Industries is also announcing a bigger, more powerful version known as Roadie Bass.

Musicians with Roadie 2 can explore new tunings through the 20 presets or by creating custom tunings through the Roadie companion app. The app can also store profiles for all your instruments and help refine your tuning options between each one.

It also keeps track of tuning stats and each string’s quality to notify you when it’s time to change them out. When that time comes, Roadie 2’s motor can even help you restring your instrument with an automatic winding feature boasting a 60-RPM rotation speed.

Built with a 300:1 gear ratio motor, the lightweight, pocket-sized device is strong enough to turn even rusty pegs while the motor’s micro movements ensure excellent precision. A lithium battery powers Roadie and can be recharged via USB-C.

Roadie 2 has a detection range of A1 (55Hz) – A5 (880Hz) along with a detection accuracy of less than ±1 cent. Roadie Bass detects from A0 (27.5Hz) to A4 (440Hz). The tuning accuracy of both is estimated to be ±2 cents. With Roadie’s new vibration detection, users can achieve the same quality of tuning even in noisy environments such as a concert hall.

The original Roadie Tuner saw major success when it tripled its funding goal on Kickstarter in 2013. It has since won numerous awards and helped tune over 2 million strings. Now, Roadie 2 expands on everything the first Roadie started by adding vibrational tuning detection and haptic feedback among other new features. It gives users more freedom, offering the perfect tune without the need of a smartphone.

Available today on Kickstarter, the campaign will go on for 60 days with a fundraising goal of $50,000. Early backers can pledge $79 for a Roadie 2 or $99 for a Roadie Bass. Band Industries will deliver worldwide and is expected to ship in October of 2017. Backers get a 30-day money back guarantee and a 1-year warranty for all Roadies. For more information, visit their website: https://www.roadietuner.com/roadie2/.

Following up on an incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign late last year, GWAR will bring the blasphemous, blood-soaked series that fans demanded to print in June, courtesy of Dynamite Entertainment!

GWAR has released an official video announcing the Dynamite partnership, which can be viewed: https://youtu.be/LIXNUdUfVf8.

From the depths of outer space to the frozen wasteland of Antarctica, punk rock and heavy metal's most shocking band of intergalactic blood-spewing alien monsters has returned to kill everything and respect nothing in the pages of GWAR: Orgasmageddon! Banished to the past by the cold and calculating Mr. Perfect, the heroes of GWAR trample through time like a deranged Bill & Ted on bath salts. Antics ensue as they stomp and smash and shape human history to what we accept as our current reality. Co-written by GWAR themselves and Matt Miner (Toe Tag Riot, Critical Hit), and featuring art by Jonathan Brandon Sawyer (Welcome Back, Critical Hit), GWAR: Orgasmageddon is a love letter to comics, grindhouse movies, and heavy metal, sure to appeal both to the most die-hard fan and the comics fanboy/fangirl intrigued by the prospect of social awareness drowned in geysers of blood and alien jizz.

"It's awesome to have a comic coming out!" says Matt Maguire, better known in the band lineup as Sawborg Destructo. "When Matt Miner and I first talked, everything clicked and I knew we were going to do a cool project. We can't wait to show all of the amazing work that is being generated for this comic! With Dynamite in our corner, it's gonna be a big book!"

Regarding what GWAR fans will love most about the series, Maguire adds, "The blood... maybe the story... but mostly the blood. Oh, did we mention that Slymenstra Hymen is gonna be in it? And oh yeah -- blood!"

"I always wanted to be the guy to help bring GWAR to modern-day comics," says writer Matt Miner. "Most people when they get into comics want to do Batman or Spider-Man or write the next great Punisher story, but I really, really wanted to write my favorite scumdogs of the universe... the all-mighty GWAR!  Although working on that other stuff would be cool, too."

Regarding the concept and audience for the new series, Miner says, "People who love fun comics are gonna dig this crazy story that dives into the past and shows how GWAR not only created humans, but shaped our history to what we now know as our actual modern day reality. GWAR fans are going to love that all the creators on the book are fans -- every single one, from me and artist Jonathan Brandon Sawyer, all the way to every single variant cover artist -- and GWAR themselves are contributing art and co-writing the book, to boot. This isn't a case of us getting the license and then running with it; we collaborate very closely with the band and are in almost constant contact during the creation. Fans of comics with a deeper meaning may have to dig through the blood, the guts, and the sometimes off-color jokes, but they're gonna find what they're looking for; GWAR has always been a mirror held up to the worst aspects of humanity, so that social satire and consciousness is there, although it may be splattered with politician brains and alien bile. You do not need to be a GWAR fan to have a ton of fun with this comic!"

"Anyone who is familiar with GWAR's theatrical performances, and over their thirty-year history will agree that it is hard to think of a band better suited to the comic book page," says Dynamite CEO and publisher, Nick Barrucci. "It seems only fitting that these masters of gore find their published home alongside the comic book adventures of the original shock rockers, KISS!"

GWAR: Orgasmageddon #1 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors' April 2017 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in June.  Comic book fans are encouraged to reserve copies of GWAR with their local comic book retailers. GWAR: Orgasmageddon will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Dynamite Digital, iVerse, and Dark Horse Digital.
Co-writer Matt Miner has written a post explaining the comic book pre-order system and why it's so important if we want more GWAR comics in the future:  https://mattminerxvx.com/2017/03/28/time-to-pre-order-gwar-orgasmageddon-kids/

The comic's creators have also provided a pre-order slip to make reserving copies with your local comic shop easy, and the band asks their fans to please call their local comic stores and both pre-order copies of the comic and request the store stocks GWAR comics for their shelves.

The Norwegian progressive rock outfit are dropping their debut effort in May 2017. By disobeying the rules set by genre boundaries, ‘Kaela Upsweep’ is a unique release consisting of five varied tracks that explore the grunge, progressive metal and funk genres. The result is a musically diverse EP brought together by Underwing’s trademark sound consisting of powerful vocals, catchy riffs, groovy basslines and pounding drums.

Unifying these different elements are the lyrics where an overarching theme is how self-growth can be attained through enduring and overcoming challenges faced in life. The EP was entirely self-produced by the band with Joachim Walle Michalsen (drummer) mixing, mastering and producing the record. This approach was taken to ensure that the original vision for ‘Kaela Upsweep’ would remain intact until the
very end.

Slated for a release on the 20th of May, the EP will be released both physically and digitally through the record label Pinecone Records. The release will be supported by several tour dates to be announced.

Underwing was formed in 2016 and quickly found their signature sound inspired by the likes of Tool, Alice in Chains and Black Sabbath. The latter half of 2016 was spent recording their debut EP while simultaneously touring the southern coast of Norway. The band released their first singles, ‘Reaper’ and ‘Paragon’ in the summer of 2016, both of which were heavily streamed on Spotify and Youtube.
