The Model Youth Talk of Music and Playing!

Pop punks THE MODEL YOUTH are working upon their next full-length album, having already released an EP of sorts thus far into their short career span. For the remainder, the band plans on touring in the summer and fall, with releasing all new content as well. Find out what else the band had to talk about, as far as music goes below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band started with just Adam back in 2012 and he sat on the name of the band and the idea for several years just waiting for the right moment and right line up. In about 2017, a group of guys came together to form what the line up used to be. Andre joined the band about a year ago after the previous lead left the band for college. Riley (our drummer) joined just after that and finally Adam, the other Adam…. Joined a few months ago after our first rhythm guitarist left, again for college.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Adam our lead singer, was sitting on a plane in 2012 and the guy sitting next time him was chatting and he said something about “the model youth” referring to the kids nowadays but the term stuck.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The pop punk scene used to be a lot better but over years has sorta died down. Surf punk is really popular right now. We really like jamming with the Aquadolls, suburban park, ten till dawn, and a few others.

4. How would you describe your style?

Its a earlier pop punk sound, going a little more poppy but for the most part our sound changes a little per song.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We've released an EP on all streaming platforms. Go check it out!!!! We got alot more coming soon!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

YA! Were currently writing and recording a full length album. No set release date so far.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We has a bunch of shows lined up but due to the corona virus destroying humanity, all live shows have been cancelled for now.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We were really looking forward to touring this summer but mainly now its just online releases and trying to keep audience engagement.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Were on all streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple music, iTunes. Whatever you want!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

This is what we love doing, writing, recording, and playing music. No matter what the subject matter is we have a great time doing this. So have fun with us!
