Television Supervision Discusses Current Plans and Making Music!

Alternative, punk, post punk band TELEVISION SUPERVISION have their album out called "Waldo", with newer music in the works! Expected shows are follow as well as more plans, as everything slowly goes as it is planned. For now though, the band goes onto further discussion about how they came to be, their music and more.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Zach Grant (Bass/backup vocals) and I met while we were in high school. We were both actually skipping class at the time. I was a Senior and he was a Freshman. I was in the school’s music room playing a song on my guitar. Zach walked by, saw me, picked up a bass, plugged in, and started playing along. Didn’t say a word. That moment led to us writing songs, starting a band, meeting our drummer Cody Rains at a show in Orlando, and ultimate tee my getting signed to Standby Records.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

When we were still in high school, I accidentally hit zach in the head with a guitar. We subsequently called ourselves “Accident”. Then briefly after that almost switched to “Boy Scout” then decided on “Officer Down!” Though due to someone else having this we then discussed about 300 new names. All of the names we came up that we liked we would put into a tier-system based on how good they were..lol they were placed into “song names, album names, and possible band names”. We ultimately decided on “Television Supervision”. We actually get heat for this name too lol we’ve had people say it’s fucked up and too complicated to say..it’s two words! Also hey we’ll take it, plenty of bands with messed up names-maybe it’ll make them remember us!

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of the Tampa Bay region, namely the Clearwater/Dunedin/Tarpon Springs areas.

4. How would you describe your style?

Honestly, we don’t fit ourselves into a particular style. Though our music would definitely fall under the large umbrella of rock music we are each heavily influenced by so many different genres, some not even touching rock. While rock lives in each of us, Cody tends to be on the heavier side while also loving rap and country. Zach’s soul is based in the pure punk and emo scenes while I am more on the pop, rock, and country sides of music going all the way back to the 70s. Having each of us with our hands in different spectrums led us to wanting to write songs of all genres, not just one. We believe this is what has set us apart from the every day band.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We just released our debut album, "Waldo", in January through our label Standby Records. The LP is true to the full-length stigma as it contains 14 tracks. We’ve been met with reviews that have really made us even more proud of this record than we initially were. Our goal in the construction of the album was to have just one song for every person to like-maybe they don’t like a straightforward, fast rock song and would rather have a light, easy, less-distorted track..maybe they want something heavier/darker, or maybe they love the new modern wave of pop songs..there’s a song for everyone and we know that goal has been realized due to the immediate feedback. It has been truly relieving honestly. We didn’t know how our concept would be received. Nobody has done this.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We do! In the immediate release of "Waldo" we realize that we have to keep up with today’s trends, which is to pump out tracks to stay relevant. Now, with a band we have to make sure we’re not releasing a bunch B-sides, we are very diligent in what we put together so the road is gonna be quite arduous but worth it. Fans of ours across the world can expect new music this summer.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We have done several tours in the United States. Our goal like many bands has to been to get over to Europe and we had this mapped out prior to the Corona outbreak. We will find a way though. Adapt or die.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

As alluded to prior we have set a plan going forward for new music and music  videos, the latter of which we are kind of known for at this point! So we’re really excited about this. Our tours will pick up when the Earth gets back to normal.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We are on every streaming outlet you can think of. We also have our official merch site where you can grab all things Television Supervision!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We try our best to illustrate the energy we have when we perform through our music and videos and we we believe that’s what really helps us stand out.
