CREATURES GETS TALKING ABOUT SINGLE, EP, AND SHOWS!

Death heavy weight catchers called CREATURES have got a new single out titled "Samara" with a sophomore EP release called "II" out this summer! The band decided to do some talking about said releases, shows, and the future plans ahead!

1. Give a brief history of your band, and the members.

The band Creatures started in 2015 when members TJ (drums) ,Nick (guitar) and former bassist Greg were looking for a vocalist. Rob joined the band and thus Creatures was born. It started as a 4 piece and eventually recruited Brandon on 2nd guitar to make it 5.

Greg eventually left and Brandon took over bass and we recruited Vic to play guitar. Brandon also ended up leaving being replaced by Christian on bass. The current line up is Rob(vocals), Nick (guitar), Vic (guitar) , Christian (bass) and TJ (drums).

2. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Pretty much came from brain storming different names. We didn't want a "verb the noun" style name and just wanted something short and catchy.

3. What genre does the band play and why did you want to play this particular genre?

We play in the "genre" deathcore but are definitely not limited to that. We just want to make heavy, catchy music. We all grew up listening to punk, metal etc... but all grew into the more heavy sounding styles of metal.

4. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes. We all grew up in south Etobicoke, Ontario with some of us being friends from high school and knowing each other from different bands.

5. Do you write your own songs?

Yes. We all take a group effort in writing the songs.

6. What are the songs about?

The lyrics for creatures come from all different sources. From writing about partying to the philosophical questions of life and what they mean to us. For inspiration we usually write the music first and I get an overall feeling from the song and write about whatever comes to my mind at the time. Maybe I’m going through a tough time and write about that or recent events in the news at the time of writing the song.

7. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

For musical influences I would say the early days of death core inspired me a lot. Bands such as Emmure, Despised Icon and Whitechapel. But also less heavier bands such as Enter Shikari. Non-musical I would have to say my friends and the people around me inspire me. Pop culture and the news and issues of the world also play into influences for songs.

8. What releases do you have under your belts thus far into your career as musicians?

We have our first self-titled EP released in 2015. We are now getting ready to release are follow up EP called Creatures II.

9. Do you have any new music in the works at this time?

We are always working on new songs and hope to release a full length album in the future.

10. What other plans do you have for this year?

We have a southern Ontario tour planned for the middle of August. We will be hitting up Barrie, Niagara Falls, Kingston and Hamilton. Kicking off our tour on August 12th in Toronto with Traitors, Signs of the Swarm, Falsifier, Being and Portrayal of Purity.
