Pop rock band DARLIN have two single's out with a lot more in the works for the next year! No shows in the works just yet, the band wants to focus on themselves and their music as well. The band talks about all of this below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
So DARLIN have only been around for about 2 months, but behind the scenes we’ve been working on the project for over 2 years. We’re comprised of 6 members, all of which have been in previous (mainly alternative rock) bands, such as Kenai, The Younger, All Forgotten, Chasing Cadence, MAVEN, Ellis Red, Day of the Sirens. We’ve got quite a few years experience in the industry and DARLIN is our attempt at “doing things right”.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
DARLIN is fronted by Married couple Dan & Sarah, the band name was Dan’s idea but I think its extremely apt. DARLIN is an endearing term used between lovers and friends and that’s exactly what we are. Dropping the G felt like it gave the band name more of a colloquialism and also meant we were less likely to find other bands with the same name.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are mostly based in Essex, home of a plethora of amazing bands, both famous and up and coming, our drummer actually used to plan in a band with Sam Ryder, not that he’d be classed as up and coming anymore! Our friends in Tigress are definitely one to watch out for as they are making waves.
4. How would you describe your style?
Pink Powered Pop Rock. We’ve been often described as the love child of Fleetwood Mac and Paramore… ParaMac if you will.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
At the date of writing this, we’ve just released our first single ‘GOOD BAD VIBES’ as well as our second single ‘VELVET’. And we have 2 more singles in the pipeline for the new year.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Always, our song writing productivity is INSANE in this band, we’ve already written at least 2 albums worth of music, we’ve already got 4 fully fledged releases and are back in the studio to record more, early next year.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Nothing yet, we think its very important to build up a bit of demand before we start hitting the road, we want to build an online fanbase first so that we can ensure we are playing to the right people, when it comes to it. However, we are fully rehearsed and ready to go.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
We’d love to start working with our local BBC Introducing station at first, build up a local buzz around the band so that we can start playing live, we’d love to release a continuous stream of music over the next few years. We have no grand illusions of fame and fortune, we’d just be really happy if our music could reach as many people as possible.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
Positive vibes, we’re a family friendly band, someone you could show to your kids or your grandma, we’re all about spreading positivity, optimism and enthusiasm.
