Negative Frame Talks of New Music and the Plans Ahead of Them!

Death metal band NEGATIVE FRAME have had some releases on their belts, with an all new debut expected soon, which is suppose to be a BIG deal! The band has been actively playing shos, touring as well, with huge plans set for the next year already. The band goes into talks about this plus much more!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Hey there, it's Olly Coyne the guitarist here! Negative Frame was formed in 2017 when we were grungy teenagers just wanting to rock. We launched our first record at a show with legends Discharge and quickly started booking our own DIY tours. In 2022 we dropped 'Small World' on The Coming Strife Records, which led us to sell out headline shows and join Avocado Booking. We just opened for Thy Art Is Murder and Kublai Khan. Our new record 'Mercy Killing' is out now, an eclectic mix of dark thrash riffs, bouncy two-step parts and visceral breakdown beatdowns.

Negative Frame are:
Kesari Gorin - Vocals
Olly Coyne - Guitar
Luke Walker - Drums
Mark Mccutchan - Bass

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Negative Frame derives from the bible. A cloth was left in Jesus's tomb with blood stains on it. When looking at the cloth through a negative frame, Jesus's face appears. Looking through a Negative Frame can outline things not seen through the normal eye - therefore the band and our lyrics come down to your perspective of how you choose to interpret these words.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any bands you could recommend?

We're based in London and are a part of the thriving UK Hardcore scene. Shows are packed with energetic rockers who'd give anything for that one night of chaos. We're honoured to be a part of such a special and violent community. From stage diving to gang shouts, Negative Frame has all the fun parts you want to see and more.

UKHC band shoutouts:
The Flex
No Relief

4. How would you describe your style?

We've mixed our favorite styles under the heavy umbrella. A strong groove basis of well-written guitar riffs is the base of our sound - we love fast but emotional trash on the verge of death metal. We add visceral breakdowns with tempo-altering transitions to add a huge punch to a breakdown. Alongside this, we're a very fun band. We love bounce and singalong parts that get the whole room joining in.

5. What have you released so far?

After launching our first few records 'Pestilent' 2018 and 'Disarming' 2020 DIY, we joined The Coming Strife Records UK and Death Farm Records EU for two further releases 'Small World' and 'Mercy Killing'. These records are available together on a 12" Record and CD.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are currently starting to write our debut LP which will be a big deal.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We have just come back from a full UK tour with Street Soldier which was the 'Mercy Killing' release tour! It was very successful with a couple of sold-out shows and insane energy throughout.
We have huge plans for 2024 confirmed including a couple of European tours and open-air festivals. We will be returning to Portugal and Spain for a Halloween chaos tour this year!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Already discussed!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our new record is available everywhere - please check out our Bandcamp where our fresh and limited tour merch is available!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We're all about having good times and enjoying the show. We're here to inspire you to pick up an instrument or get involved in the creative thing you've always wanted to do. The time is now! Spend it doing something you love when possible. Thank you for digging this band, it means the world to us.
