Dark Delirium Talks of New Album, Insight into Themselves and Plans Ahead!

Metal band DARK DELIRIUM began in 2020, during the covid pandemic, but while that may have been happening, it did not stop them from releasing content. The band has released two album's with an upcoming album out soon enough. The band doesn't plan to stop there, releasing a few music videos and some shows lined-up for the next year as well. The band talks of their material and other plans in the works.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band started in 2020 during the covid pandemic, created by the brothers Simeon Ekse and David Ekse, and their cousin Halvar Moen. Halvar and Simeon played guitar and David was on vocals. The trio released 2 albums in 2021. Right before the release of the second album, Daníel Þorsteinsson joined on bass and Daniel Bryne joined on the drums. After the release of the album, Dark delirium got ready for a tour in Norway. Halfway through the tour the band had to cancel the rest of the concerts due to Davids mental health. He later on quit so the band had to make changes, so Simeon took over the vocals, Leaving the guitar. Due to having little time on his hands for the band and because of creative differences, Bryne left the band soon after. Eventhough we lost two, we did take in Christian André Rødfjell to feature on 2 songs on our upcoming album with clean vocals and he is a marvellous lyricist. Dark Delirium is now talking to a possible new drummer and are starting to search for a new guitar player to replace Simeons former role.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The origin is from an old song from Simeons and Halvars old band, a song about a woman Simeon knew that he got told ended up in a delirious state before passing.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based around Stavanger, a city located on the coast of Southwestern Norway. Unfortunately the music scene is not optimal here. Few people attend any concerts, specially rock and metal, so we look outside our area to play concerts. But I, Daníel, seriously recommend Autonomie, who are probably the angriest teenagers I have had the honor to meet and see live, Mudslide and Deception.

4. How would you describe your style?

Dark Delirium plays unique, brutal and hard metal which with its musical expression creates rich and evocative songs filled with deep lyrics and captivating and epic melodies

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released 2 albums, Fallen (2021) and Sulphur (2021) and three singles for our upcoming album New Era (25.11.2022). You can always expect heavy riffs and dark themes with a massive soundscape!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

As soon as our upcoming album was ready, Simeon immediately started writing new songs, and Daníel and Christian started a side project for the band creating a concept album. In this band there is always new music in the works! But for the public our upcoming album 25.11.22 is what's next!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We have been planning a few concerts for the new year and are constantly in dialog with bookers and venues. So in 2023 we are defiantly hitting some of the other European countries and are looking forwards to that!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Well, after the album release we are probably gonna work on a few music videos along with a few new tracks. We are also looking at getting the concerts for 2023 set up.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our music is available on more or less all streaming platforms including YouTube. As of today you'll have to contact the band on our social medias or show up at a show to get any merch.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

To be open-minded and to have fun with it. We created the music which we think represents us and we hope people enjoy it.
