What the Frnk & The Longhorns Talks of Music, Shows, Including Festivals!

Funky blues rock band WHAT THE FRNK AND THE LONGHORNS have their debut album, a single, and other songs in the works yet to be released. Some live shows have been in the works and are set to take place soon enough. The band talks of their music and shows below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

WTF was founded in 2018. The idea, which had been around for a long time, only became reality when singer/guitarist Frank had to make a number of choices in his life. During a “forced” sabbatical of 1.5 years he used the time to found WTF together with Twan (bass guitar). Guus (keys) soon joined, whom they knew from various music sessions. Moments later, drummer Mano joined.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

What the Frnk was used as a kind of joke during a dance festival in Eindhoven (Netherlands) when Frank played as a soloist with a DJ. It's an inside joke name. The name was later used as a working title and also kept

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are located in Eindhoven, which is nicknamed "Eindhoven Rockcity" and has a rich rock music culture. Peter Pan Speedrock, TankZilla and The Dirty Denims are examples of well-known bands that originated here. There are also many Americana bands in the region.

4. How would you describe your style?

What the Frnk’ musical style can be described as “Funky Blues Rock”. When playing large venues, our horn section “The Longhorns” will join us and add some soul to our performance.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works? AND 6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We released our debut album “Something about you” in march 2020, a few days before the first Covid lockdown in the Netherlands. The scheduled album release tour was therefore cancelled.  Since performing in a conventional setting was no longer possible, we decided to work on new material. This was also the point where we brought in the horn section to play on our new songs. The result is the single “Speed of Light” which was released last year. We also recorded multiple other songs which are not yet released. We plan on releasing several other tracks over the course of 2022.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Since we are no longer in lockdown, we have started doing live shows again. The schedule can be found on our website: https://whatthefrnk.nl/#agenda.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We enjoy playing live live shows, it’s what we do best. Currently, our focus is on blues rock festivals and clubs in the Netherlands. But our booking agency is in contact with clubs in the UK to organize a tour.  No concrete plans are made yet.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to What the Frnk on all streaming platforms.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

As a band, WTF mainly wants to play live and treat the audience to beautiful music and provide a pleasant evening. This does not have to be extreme or in virtuosity. But just good with catchy songs.
