Leon of Athens Releases Video for "Utopia"

London-via-Athens indie pop artist Leon of Athens has shared the official video for "Utopia." Its bold, futuristic screenplay is written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Efthymis Filippou (Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer) and directed by Gregory Rentis. It's the first of two beautifully cinematic videos being released just ahead of "Xenos", Leon of Athens' forthcoming album (out Feb 9, 2018), in which he works with acclaimed Greek directors to produce dramatic, surrealistic, eye-catching, thought-provoking works of art that showcase Xenos' breadth and vision. "Utopia", is set in a Black Mirror-style, alternative present; it follows the love story of a man (played by Leon) and his plant, in a world where plants are treated like humans and romantic relationships form between them.

"Utopia", pulls together melancholic electronics and solemn vocal tones before breaking into a jubilant bright chorus bursting with optimism. It's just one of many songs that strike this same intense nerve on "Xenos", behind which Leon of Athens will play his first-ever US shows. He'll first stop at Okeechobee Fest Mar 1-4, and then he'll head to SXSW Mar 12-17. SXSW recently featured him as a Showcasing Artist of the Day.
