May 2023

This fall, the classic season for dark and romantic music, BLACK VEIL BRIDES and VV (VILLE VALO) will co-headline a massive tour in select cities across North America. Presented by Hot Topic, the BVB & VV 2023 Tour (featuring special guests DARK DIVINE) combines three unique bands who champion the heavy-hearted, hopeless, and broken with mixtures of high intensity and melody.

“We cannot wait to join forces with VILLE VALO and give both of our audiences in North America an unforgettable experience each night,” says BLACK VEIL BRIDES frontman Andy Biersack. “This run has been in the works for quite a while. We couldn't be happier now that we can finally share the news. VILLE is an icon. We have all been fans of his, not only for his work in the hugely influential band HIM but as a torchbearer for an entire generation of rock fans and musicians.”

“There's something tinnitus-inducingly romantic about the idea of being sandwiched nightly between BLACK VEIL BRIDES and DARK DIVINE on this autumnal trek across North America,” muses VALO. “And imagining us explore the architecture of doom and gloom from three distinctly different musical perspectives has already made the bats in my belfry suitably ravenous.”

Andy adds, “This tour is a dream come true and will be something special. DARK DIVINE is new to the scene but garnering a lot of attention quickly and rightfully so. They are hands down one of the best young bands out there, and we are certain the BVB Army and VV fans will love them.”

"Purified by Vengeance" by Dååth features both Mark Holcomb of Periphery and composer and sound designer Mick Gordon and was mixed by Jens Bogren, with Andrew Wade as vocal producer, and John Douglass handling engineering duties.

Eyal Levi comments, "'Purified By Vengeance' is the first song we wrote for Dååth's return and it has everything I would want from one of our songs. Devastating riffs, eerie synths, epic orchestration, brutal and catchy vocals, ethereal cleans, and an incredible solo.

And on that note, shout-out to Mick Gordon and Mark Holcomb for their contributions. When Mick told me the song made him think of grave robbing I knew he was picking up what we were putting down. He added what we didn't know was missing. Layers of incredible percussion, sound design, orchestra, and theremin. Yes theremin. You've gotta love an evil theremin. Furthermore, the way Mick's elements blend with Jesse Zuretti's is perfect.

As far as Holcomb goes, I literally laughed out loud when I first heard his solo. It's wild and classy, virtuosic and tasteful, unpredictable yet familiar. To be honest, it's my favorite Mark Holcomb solo. You can tell him I said that.

Also, the verse riff is the moment I knew Krimh had to be in the band. I was beating my head into a wall. Everything I was writing just wasn't good enough. I re-wrote the verse maybe 16 times. We had an intro, a pre chorus, a chorus and no verse. I asked Krimh to help me write it and the way we collaborated was instant chemistry. It was so seamless and easy and what we ended up with is quintessential Dååth: heavy af, catchy af, dark af. Clearly we had to make more music together.

I hope you all enjoy this one!"

Krimh, the band's drummer, added how the new, original track is "a real banger with its groove, chug riffs and catchy chorus. Mick Gordon and Mark Holcomb really elevated it with their creative sound design and melodic guitar solo. I'm very proud of how this turned out!" Jesse Zuretti (orchestration, synth, guitar) also noted how "tracking guitars & composing orchestrations was fun, but Mick Gordon's sound design and layers really serrated 'Purified'. I'm personally deeply honored to have worked in tandem on this track.

I'd also like to point out that when I first heard Mark Holcomb's solo it put a literal smile on my face - what an assassin."

Brazilian death metal outfit CRYPTA are preparing to unleash their second beast of an album, 'Shades of Sorrow', on August 4, 2023 via Napalm Records! Formed in 2019 by former NERVOSA members Luana Dametto (drums) and Fernanda Lira (vocals), and now featuring guitarists Tainá Bergamaschi and Jessica di Falchi, CRYPTA broke the charts with their highly praised very first album, 'Echoes of the Soul', in 2021. The album received massive critical and fan base acclaim for a debut release (including landing at #55 on the Official German Album Charts and debuting at #15 on both the US Hard Music Albums and Top New Artist Albums charts).

On 'Shades of Sorrow', the band stays true to their unique sound that was introduced on their first full-length, blending classic and modern death metal with significant extreme and black metal elements. Straight from the burning gates of death metal salvation, their brand new single, "Lord of Ruins", serves as a relentless harbinger of what the new album has to offer and a smashing dose of true CRYPTA sound, leaving the listener breathless.

The song is highlighted by a demonic, captivating official video that showcases the full power of the matchless combination.

Luana Dametto (drums) on "Lord of Ruins":"’Lord of Ruins’ was our pick for a first single ‘cause it combines both melodic and aggressive melodies that are present throughout the whole album. So we thought it's a good representation of what to expect of the whole piece. It's also the final song of the record and it has a very impactful meaning. It’s the closure of the whole album concept and it also fits perfectly to the artwork concept we had in mind."

Finnish thrashers TakaLaiton will be unleashing their debut album "Mindfection" produced by Teemu Aalto (Omnium Gatherum, Insomnium) and due out on July 28th, 2023 via Rockshots Records.

Today, the band is sharing the first glimpse of their forthcoming mosh pit frenzy with the first single "Rip N' Burn" accompanied by a music video, which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/89FIY4Pjwvw.

Deathcore band BEGUILER has released a new single, “Unrepentant”, intending to raise awareness on indigenous issues and promote donations to the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. The track discusses the discovery of many unmarked graves on or near the sites of former residential schools across Canada and the United States.

The band will be selling an exclusive merch design via their web store and at shows, with the proceeds going to the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. BEGUILER has opened for acts such as INGESTED, BRAND OF SACRIFICE, AS BLOOD RUNS BLACK, AVERSIONS CROWN, RINGS OF SATURN, BLACK TONGUE, THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE & more. As well as releasing 4 ‘EP’s since late 2018, this also marks the first single off of their upcoming debut LP.

“Unrepentant” is a fast-paced track that is equally relentless in both lyrics and music. The song highlights the importance of separating church and state, discussing the atrocities that occurred across Canada within the residential schools administered by the church. In Canada, there are currently more than 1800 confirmed or suspected unmarked graves that have been identified. It’s an ongoing issue, along with all the other acts of neglect and abuse against indigenous people. The band uses the song to discuss the hypocrisy of the whole system based on the actions of those in charge and question the morals they like to guide others with. These are the main points the song touches on, whilst still leaving room for interpretation from the listener.

“I felt compelled to write a lyrical composition that digs at the hypocrisy of religious figures holding political power, whilst our government takes minimal accountability in order to save face.” says the band’s vocalist, Jacob Cooledge. Guitarist Scott Thoms added, “It just feels like not enough people are willing to talk about these issues. I really hope that this track can spark these conversations and that people are willing to stop turning a blind eye.” The band wants to emphasize the principles of the Canadian Residential School system were already unjust. “The reality is even worse than many knew about. Systematic murder and abuse is not something a church or government should feel they can hide from.” says bassist Gord Cameron.

Looking to raise awareness and support for survivors, as well as family members affected by the residential school system, BEGUILER created a shirt to coincide with the release of the single, with proceeds going directly to the NCTR. Those interested in purchasing a long-sleeve “Unrepentant” shirt can do so at Beguiler.Bigcartel.com

In an already distinguished career spanning multiple decades, California’s greatest export Steel Panther continue to create career milestones for themselves. The band performed on the season premiere of the popular Network Television Show America’s Got Talent and wowed the judges getting themselves advanced to the live rounds later this summer. The band received a standing ovation before the first note of their Feel The Steel classic “Eyes of a Panther” was ever played. Judge and renowned music mastermind Simon Cowelll commented: “Standing ovation and you haven’t done anything.”  The complete panel of judges – Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara – gave the band their own ovation after the performance with Cowell stating: “You’re so talented. It’s so clear that you’ve been doing this a long time because you don’t get good like this overnight.” He then sums up his experience watching the band with: “Everything about that audition for me was just brilliant.” The band received four “YES” votes and another ovation from the audience.
