January 2025

Indie metalheads DREAMSICKLE not an ice cream cover band or ice cream! But an actual metal act with indie and metal fused together, with them releasing three single's with two upcoming EP's expected out this year! The band talks of these releases, play some shows and tour as well!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We started out as “RUCKUS” because me (Cole) and some of the other guys all met on the rugby team and a “ruck” is basically a tip off for rugby. After about a year of being a shitty cover band that grew old and we decided to go with DREAMSICKLE suggested by our singer (Asa). It kinda just came out as DREAMSICKLE and we dug it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I (Cole guitar) have always been into contemporary metal as well as indie and I really wanted to harness those two genres into one.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The bassist (Sanchez) and I met through the rugby team at Okstate and I knew Asa (singer) via ex girlfriends who were friends. Those two and me are the original members of DREAMSICKLE. We knew each other to an extent but really got close when we started making music.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of OKC/Stillwater Oklahoma. The scene here in okc is full of hardcore and shoegaze. I recommend Downward, Money, and Most Kudos.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I mainly write based off of what I want to hear in the cultural and musical conversation. I haven’t heard much of what we’re doing and it drives us to cut our teeth on cultivating a fresh new sound.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Asa writes all of his lyrics where he deals with themes of existential dread, being unsure of where you’re at in life (sifting through), thoughts and thought patterns being trapped in your head (linger), and shitty bosses (wake up).

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Yeah we write all of our own songs, it usually starts with me picking away in my room trying to capture a feeling or musical idea and then bringing it to the guys so it just becomes a big soup of everyone’s ideas. Aaron (other guitarist) also writes for DREAMSICKLE in the same way. Everyone is a contributor to the creative process which helps our sound represent every one of us individually.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released 3 singles (linger, wake up, and sifting through) with plans of dropping 2 EP’s this year. If you listen to DREAMSICKLE expect to cry your eyes out while banging your head off the walls.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

Tons. We have about 2 EP’s and some change of unreleased material.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We play consistently in the okc-Tulsa scene. I’m currently trying to book us a tour heading out northwest.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We will become a part of the cultural conversation of our generation. We want our music to serve as a voice for those who need to hear it.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We’re on Spotify, Apple Music, and all other streaming services! We have merch for sale via Instagram DM and we can ship!

Deathcore band TARGETED has an EP out, with two follow-up releases due out soon, another EP and an album! Some single's are out now, with some shows planned too! The band briefly gives us a chat about their music, and further plans.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

I got the name really just from my head. I was just sitting around with my old band looking for a name and I just said “how about Targeted”, they said no but then I started up my own project and stuck with that name.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I wanted to play deathcore because really it’s my favorite genre, that or death metal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? For now it’s just a solo project but currently working with people to make it an official band.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I’m from Lumberton, North Carolina where there is no metal music at all, a bunch of rappers and singers, but not metal.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I would say bands like Slipknot, Lorna Shore, I AM and Obituary really inspired me.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?) I like to talk about betrayal, dark places and corruption because all 3 of those is everywhere in today’s time.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Yes I write everything. A lot of times I just play some licks and just press record and just let my mind do the writing process, same with lyrics. My lyrics come from the heart, I don’t need to write a song, my soul does it for me.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

I’ve released an EP titled “Even Nuns Cry”. I’ve so far also released 2 singles called “red (ft. Farther From God) and Ruins (ft. Chaos In Order) which will be on my upcoming album “Fallen Hope” which is to release soon.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

I got a whole album almost ready for release with another EP in the works.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

I got a few shows in the works but nothing major.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

To gather the right member for the band, to keep release to the best of my ability.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

I’m on all major streaming platforms and soon will have merch out which you can find on the bands Instagram (targeted.band).

Deathcore act POSTHUMANX have some single's out there with a debut album out this year! A whole lot of new stuff has yet to be released some making it and some may not but it is still sick! Some shows are set for the summer already, with touring to happen sooner or later, with the band wanting to play and release music. Find out what else the band had to say with us below.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

I thought the name Post Human was cool but it was taken already so Ivan came up with the name PostHumanX short for Post Human Existence

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I love the energy and intensity in Deathcore. Also this genre is an open canvas. There are always new creative ideas and bands that push the boundaries.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Ian (guitarist) and I have been friends and played together since we were kids. I met Ivan (vocalist) when I filmed his band Wroht playing live at the Gilman in Berkeley about 2 years ago. His vocal abilities are insane! I met Kingston (Drummer) on Instagram. I saw a clip of his band Bog Body covering a Despised Icon song and was blown away!

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of the Bay Area CA. San Leandro through Novato. Local bands we recommend: Red Fall, Infinite Sleep, Wrath Of Logarious, Deadringer, The American Dream, 4199, Titan Rage, Lost To The Void, Reminitions, The Tower The Fool, Lurid, Warscythe, Thrownout, The Suffering, Human Contortion, Baby On A Rampage, Edgerunner.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We all have a variety of music tastes. I’d say my Dad inspires me to write songs. When he died I was depressed for weeks. Music and songwriting became my therapy.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Our songs are about a variety of things. Topics like humans being merged with machines, consciousness transfer and aliens.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Yes I write songs and record them at my apartment. I work with an engineer in Italy named Simone Pietroforte. He also mixes for bands like Reflections, Distant, Signs Of The Swarm, As Time Went By

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We currently have 4 singles out now. You can expect our debut album sometime this year.

Melodic metal brutality WYTHERSAKE released their debut album not that long ago, with them releasing some singles, then going on to write and record what would be their sophomore album expected out this spring! But that's not all, in face, they have already written material and demoed it as well for likely a third album! So a lot of material to go around, with some shows lining up here or there as well. The band discusses all of this music business with us below.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it something you planned, or did it come to you organically?

The name "Wythersake" emerged almost as a revelation. I had been waiting for something that would resonate with the essence of the band—something that would encapsulate the themes woven through our music and lyrics. "Wythersake" is derived from an archaic European term that signifies "Apostate" or "Adversary." It reflects a rejection of conventional beliefs and embraces the notion of rebellion and defiance. The alternate spelling we’ve adopted, "Wythersake," gives it more of a mystical quality - to me personally at least.

2. Why did you choose to play this genre?

It wasn’t so much a conscious decision as it was a natural alignment of creativity.  It allows me to express the full spectrum of my thoughts.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we’ve all been connected somehow long before Wythersake came into being. We come from the same city, and have a shared history from previous projects performing together.

4. Where is the band based out of, and what is the local music scene like? Are there any local bands you’d recommend?

We’re based in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. Another band that stands out and is doing something truly unique are our brothers in “Skaldr” (Avantgarde Music) Their recent album is something we highly recommend.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I find inspiration in the world around me—the complexities of life, my personal experiences, and the insights I gain through introspection. I’m constantly observing, and in many ways, it’s through music that I make sense of those observations. I do not always find fulfillment or joy in things, but through songwriting, I can channel my emotions and thoughts into something tangible and meaningful.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

The themes in our music are deeply philosophical and introspective. I explore concepts like Theosophy, which examines the hidden truths of the universe; rebellion, in the face of established structures and dogmas; irreverence toward conventional ideals; and gnosis—the pursuit of knowledge that transcends the material world.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Yes, all music is written and produced by Wythersake. My process begins with crafting the music, which usually comes together quickly—I’ll have a demo within a day. Once the instrumental draft is in place, I listen to it repeatedly, until the words begin to form. Lyrics are written in my lyrics journal or in my phone’s notes app. From there, I demo the vocals, and if time permits, I can complete the full song within 48 hours. I can usually “feel” that I have a song ready to go before even sitting down in my studio to create it sonically.

8. What have you released so far, and what can someone expect from your works?

Our debut album Antiquity (2021) was our Full Length introduction to the world, preceded by several singles released between 2018 and 2020. Our sophomore album, At War With Your Divinity, will be released worldwide on March 21, 2025 (Scarlet records). Anyone who listens can expect a musical journey that blends profound thematic exploration with bold, atmospheric soundscapes.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

In addition to the upcoming album, we’ve already written and demoed material for our third album. I never rest.

10. Do you have any plans for shows or touring?

We will be playing select shows, if everything aligns properly. Our band members no longer all live in the same state, so we must coordinate in a way that makes sense logistically. That being said, if the right opportunity arises, we will be ready to share our music live with our fans.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Our immediate focus is on promoting At War With Your Divinity, which includes releasing more music videos to accompany the album. We’ll do what we can to get the album in front of listeners, and then we will dive straight into recording our third album, with plans to have it ready within the next year.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can explore our music and stay updated on everything Wythersake through our website: www.wythersake.com. Thank you for your time and support.

The band name came from a former member after we lost a majority of our bandmates we decided to re-brand with a new name.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Thrash metal has been a huge influence to most of us, anything from the 80s like Slayer, Metallica, Overkill, Vio-lence etc.. to today's thrash like Havok, Enforced etc.

Mostly new bands we have been listening to, Richard will start with a bad ass riff and we all add something to it and soon enough we got a banger.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Our songs range, we have a song about smoking weed to death lol then we got a song about the world ending so it ranges lol.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Most the time Richard will write the songs and our vocalist takes care of the lyrics, writing the song will usually take some time as Richard writes them in sections till he finds what fits, Kurt (Vocalist) has his own way of writing lyrics we are not to sure about lol but when he does bring them to us we love it.

Metalcore band ROYAL HEARTS have had countless single's released, along with an EP, with new songs set for release sometime this year as well. With the band focused in playing some shows in the coming months, wanting to do more, release more music, and keep it growing more, more, and more! The band discusses all of this plus more below.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Back when we started we wanted something that was memorable and easy to say, we liked the idea of having hearts in the name as a nod to some of our mid 2000s influences and sort of just came up with it. Unfortunately there is no deeper or hidden meaning behind the name Royal Hearts.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Growing up in the 2000s, going to Warped Tours and Taste of Chaos tours alongside local shows at Pompano Indoor Skatepark, Solid Sound Studios, The Talent Farm, we all were drawn to music that was anchored in melody but pushed more into the heavier side of the scene.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Ryan & Nelson briefly knew each other prior to Royal Hearts but in reality, we all were complete strangers when we started - having met through online forums or mutual friends.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Our band is based out of Fort Lauderdale Florida, with our vocalist relocating to Jacksonville Florida a few years ago. The scenes in both cites are growing & welcoming with some really great bands that are blowing up - The Requiem, Lilith’s Demise, Heavy Hitter, Not Enough Space, Right Here Right Now, Phantom Limbs, Lost Trees are all great bands out of Florida that we 100% recommend.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I’d say this answer is different for each of us but for me, Ryan, my vocal and lyric identity stems from my love of bands like Senses Fail, Silverstein, Thursday - I pull from a very emotive place when I write and aim to keep my approach as honest as possible - in terms of lyrics and the performance of my vocals.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Most of our music is anchored around the idea of existing as we grow up/older. We touch on a lot of interpersonal growth and relationships with others - its our way of processing the fact that no matter what we do - time presses forward and we simply have to move forward with it.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

We often collaborated with bare bones ideas and then take a remote approach where we share files back and forth - giving us time to digest each others ideas, create them with no inhibitions and then workshop from there to finish any particular song.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Since 2019 we have released an EP of our very first songs but have continued to follow that up with 12 singes since then - there is a through line from our very first releases to our most recent that clearly signifies these are all us - we may shift around inside of our style but we keep our core identity of metalcore and post hardcore close to our chest.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

We currently have three new songs wrapped up to continue releasing into 2025, with more at various stages of completion.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

With Spring getting closer, we have a string of March dates planned with our friends in Chasing Airplanes and are actively wrapping up dates for some of our first Out of State shows.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

This may be a tired sentiment but we want to continue to build a community around Royal Hearts - we will take it as far as our supporters allow us. Getting to write our own music and having others support it is always a humbling experience but or goal is to grow RH as big as we can and become a name that people talk about, connect with, grow with.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

All of our music is on all DSP services and can be found here - linktr.ee/royalheartsfl

Emo punks LIFE IN IDLE have not one but two full-length album's out, with some single's out as well as all new music expected out soon enough! They will also be touring this year, moving forward as band, creating music, playing shows, touring, and pushing themselves full speed ahead!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Al: It came pretty naturally, you know. Joe, David, and I were all in a science class together freshman year. I came up with the name back then. It was something I had written on a drum pad of mine, and it just stuck. We cycled through a few older names during the process, but ultimately, we ended up with Life in Idle.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Al:  We started out as more of a pop-punk outfit, but we always felt this edge in us... in our writing. When we took the next batch of songs (Continuity Errors) to the studio, we knew we wanted to dive deep into that classic 2000s emo sound.

David: So we went to Gary Cioni at Sound Acres Recording Studio for our album. He’s considered a top producer in the genre, and we really felt the magic click as these songs came together. We also had Chris Freeman from Hot Mulligan as our co-producer on the album.

Shai: Emo for life!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

David: Yeah, we were all in school together. John and Shai were two grades ahead of Al, Joe, and me. We all did high school marching band together. Also, John is my cousin. We’re kind of a family-type band, you know—haha.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Al: We’re based out of Dayton, Ohio. The music scene here is rad. There are tons of bands, shows, and genres to choose from.

David: All the bands from our hometown are great. There are so many to recommend. The list goes on, but a few of our homies are Better Anyway, Midview, and Knavery.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Al: A lot inspiration comes from a mix of personal experiences, emotions, and the world around me. I often find myself inspired by moments of vulnerability or raw honesty, whether they’re my own or from people I care about. We draw from a lot of that in our songs & stories.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

David: Our songs often depict and reflect battles with negative thoughts and overcoming adversity, both within and around yourself.

Joe: A lot of our lyrics touch on topics like mental health, relationships, self-discovery, and resilience. We also explore themes like societal pressures, finding hope in difficult times, and confronting inner demons. Ultimately, we aim to write songs that feel authentic and relatable, giving listeners something to hold onto during their own journey through life.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

David: Most songs are a collaboration between all of us. Sometimes it starts with a guitar idea, then we add drums and go from there. Other times, we have lyrics and build the song off of a phrase or an idea. So far, Al has written the bulk of our lyrics, while I edit them. I write some and John also writes for us occasionally.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Al: So far, we’ve put out two albums and three singles—four if you count the original version of our song “Catch 22.”

David: Our music blends elements of emo and alternative with honest, thought-provoking lyrics. Listeners can expect a mix of high-energy tracks and emotionally driven pieces that explore themes like mental health, relationships, personal growth, and more. Each release reflects our evolution as a band, both musically and personally, so there’s always a lot of passion and authenticity behind what we create. We aim to provide listeners with raw, cathartic musical expression.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

Al: Oh YEAH.

David: We do! Right now, we’re finalizing the details, but you can expect all-new music from us in the coming months of 2025.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

David: We have a tour to announce later this year, along with several local shows and weekenders beyond that. Maybe some festival action again…who knows!

Al: We’re always playing and performing our hearts out, but a big focus this year is on studio time as we dive deeper into a new musical process.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

David: We have a ton of music written, and we just want to keep going as a band. There are so many ups and downs when you’re in a band, so we’ve made it a goal to roll with the punches. No matter where life (in idle) takes us, we want this band to be more than just a fallback—it’s a community.

Al: As a band, we’re always looking ahead and pushing ourselves creatively. In the near future, we plan to release more music, continue experimenting with our sound, and connect with our audience on an even deeper level. Touring is definitely on our radar too.

John: We love the energy of live shows and the chance to interact with fans face-to-face. We also want to keep growing, collaborating with other artists, and finding new ways to make an impact on the world through our music.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

David: You can listen to us on all streaming platforms—Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and many more. We’re also on pretty much all social media. Al’s our social media guy.

Al: We have an online Shopify store if you want to support us further. Right now, we’re selling shirts, CDs, and bracelets. Everything is handmade, printed, packaged, and shipped by us DIY style.

Metalcore act BURN ABSOLUTE have released an EP, some single's and are working upon the follow-up EP release, with a new single out soon! They have played shows, touring numerous times already, they want to grow as a band, spreading the word of their music and themselves. They go on to talk about music and further plans down the line.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name for the band came organically. We were tossing around words we liked and Burn stuck in our head. After hearing a song by Parkway Drive where the band was chanting BURN, the word absolute came to mind and that’s how the name was made, essentially.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Growing up in the early 2000s we all spent a lot of our formative years going to local metalcore and hardcore shows. Which inspired us to make music ourselves.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We were all online friends when we started the band, after making some music over the internet together we decided, why not make this a real band?

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Our band is unique; half of our members live in Tampa, FL and the other half live in Arkansas, so we have the pleasure of hailing from two different scenes. From Tampa, we’d love to shout out our friends in Chasing Airplanes who have been putting in tons of work. From Arkansas, got to show love to the homies in Leona!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life. The ups, the downs, the good, the bad.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Most of our music is about emotional turmoil, traumatic experiences, and how we overcome them.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Yes, we write all our music. It usually starts with a simple idea, we record it, send it to the other guys in the band and slowly but surely everyone adds their sauce to the track. Usually by the end of the process we have something incredibly unique and influenced by everyone in the band.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

To date we have released a six track EP titled “Cartharis” - we have also released 4 standalone singles in 2024.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are currently gearing up to release our second EP. our recent single HOURGLASS is the first peak at that record. We have a new single coming very soon.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We have toured numerous times. We just got back from a 4-day headliner with Coma Waves and SleepTalker. We have several more tours and festival appearances coming this year which you can find information on via our website.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

As of right now we want to keep growing, meeting new people, and playing emotionally impactful music.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to Burn Absolute on all streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and more.

Trio act REVERYA has been actively doing their thing for a little over two years now. Releasing EP's, with a whole lot more music in the works, with much else planned ahead. Playing shows is a given, with them playing about ten shows, with another set in stone, with them then focusing on writing and adding some new flare for future elements. The band discusses their time spent, music made, and lots more.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We used to go by a different name, but we concluded we needed something more original for search purposes and whatnot. We started brainstorming and our guitarist, Travis, suggested ‘To Dream,’ because I have lots of crazy dreams which I tell my band mates about all the time, they know I love dreaming. I started translating that into different languages and found that to dream in French is rever. We added the ya at the end and called it a day on that. We thought the name was cool and fit our vibe really well, and is also ironically similar to the name we went by before, Rivers, so we thought it was perfect in multiple aspects.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We don’t like to limit ourselves to one style of music, we like to incorporate everything we like for whatever occasion or vibe we’re going for. But we all love and want to play metal because we see it as an advanced style of music technically, and we think it’s very dynamic as metal is such a broad style of music with so many different sub-genres, so the possibilities are endless. There’s a lot of room for heavy and soft and everything in between. We love writing heavy breakdowns, but we also love dialing it back and making something sweet and soft. It really all depends on the concept and what we’re in the mood for or inspired by at the time.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, I started the project with a friend of mine, Justin from Gloomchild about 5 or 6 months prior to meeting Travis and Kaleb. They officially joined November 2022 and we’ve been going together ever since, so a little over 2 years now.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We currently live in Florida spread out around Spring Hill/Brooksville/Zephyrhills area. So I guess we’re caught in the middle living about an hour from both Tampa and Orlando. The scene is incredible here. There are so many amazing bands whom we’ve befriended over the last 2 years. Everyone is so nice and talented, and we’re all excited for everyone around us doing amazing things, and we all want to see our friends succeed. There are so many Florida bands that we love but some of our favorites are Spiritual Chaos, Gloomchild, Create Control, Cogency, Moth Bite, Spirit Leaves, Izora, and Noctus.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Lyrically, I like to explore dreams and the spiritual/supernatural world along with hardships and heartache in life conceptualized around all different kinds of nature. Then instrumentally, we like to get creative and match the music to the lyrical concept however we can. As far as other bands we are inspired by, there are so many, but Invent Animate, and Spiritbox are huge for all three of us.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Every song has some different inspiration behind it, but the concepts are all organized by EP or album. We have our Melinoe EP that is our “sleep EP” journeying through experiences of scary sleep paralysis and wondrous, peaceful dreaming. Our latest album, “Affliction In Bloom” is our flower album. Each song on that album talks about some sort of affliction of the human existence. The song titles are significant in that each flower reflects the lyrics and instrumentals in their own way. Allium is a soft and peaceful intro slowly leading into the angry political songs, Wisteria and Pyrophyte. Forget Me Not is about an internal struggle that is a little more specific and lyrically self-explanatory. Dahlia is about heartbreak and all the feelings that come along with that, as well as some lyrics inspired by certain details of the unsolved murder. Lily, being the traditional funeral flower, transitions into the loss and grief songs, Asphodel and Magnolia. The lyrics for these songs all have specific meaning to me but I like to write in a way that can be left up to interpretation as well.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

As far as the songs we have released at the moment, Allium, Dahlia, Lily and Asphodel are actually the only songs that we wrote completely on our own without collaborating with Justin, who was producing us at the time. Each song writing process has been completely different and we like it this way. We don’t stick to one song writing structure. Sometimes I have lyrics, and I want to write the music around a specific concept, or sometimes Travis will have riffs and then Kaleb will write drums to that, and I’ll have to come up with lyrics and vocals after we have a little demo. Sometimes we write for the occasion, for example we wanted to have an intro and interlude on the album, so started writing those songs with that in mind. Sometimes I’ll have a little piano piece, and we’ll build the song around that which is kind of how we started writing Dahlia. It really just depends, we enjoy the journey every time though, and even more when we have a final product no matter how hard we might struggle to get there.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

I believe I’ve gone over this in answers for questions 5, 6 and 7! 😊

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

We do have a lot of music we are working on and lots planned for the future. There are two songs specifically that we are finishing up now, before we start revisiting an EP that we had started a long time ago. We are very excited for these new songs!

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We only started playing shows in August 2024. Between then and now, we’ve played 10 shows. We have one more booked at the moment, February 13th in Orlando at a venue called Conduit. After that we were just planning on taking a little break to focus on writing and adding some new elements to our live show. We were talking to some friends of ours about doing a little summer run, so we’re going to start looking into that which is exciting.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

New music of course, more content, more shows, and working to improve and grow in all areas!

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our music is available on all streaming services, and you can watch our videos on YouTube. We have shirts and stickers available at all our shows, along with some new items that will be available soon. Follow us on TikTok and Instagram for all the updates, @reveryamusic. Thank you so much!

Deathcore band OF THE FALLEN has gone through a lot o changes in life and in the band. But that still has stopped them from themselves or creating music. They have gone on to release countless singles, with another on the way. While the band may have seen mishaps here and there with changes in life, they want to keep releasing music, playing shows sometime soon and carrying on with life! The band talks of these matters at hand below.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Originally the band name came from a collaboration of a Dimmu Borgir and a Suicide Silence song/lyric  though from members that are no longer members of the band.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Just love heavy deathcore style music, I think deathcore style has the most diversity in its own genre. Can be mire death metal, can be more metalcore and all in between.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

With the line-up now, none of us knew one another before the band began.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are from Houston Texas and the music scene is honestly thriving like no other. Hardcore, deathmetal, grindcore is the face of the Houston local scene(s). Some bands I can recommend:

Godhand
Supremacytx
Stabbing
Chironex
Oceans of slumber
VNDTA
How all this Ends

And so many more….

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Right now mental health issues and aspects are what inspires the writing process band wise we collect from everything tbh.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

The first songs we have all follow a concept of a man who goes through war(s) and does unspeakable things on the conquest. Started out in medieval times and through his own struggles and shortcomings gets possessed by a subconscious. He wants to be forgiven for his own miss doings but it comes at a price of his loved one. After finding this out he goes into hell/the dead world to find his love and rescue her. The only problem is he is re-reincarnated every 100 years and has to go through it all over again until he can find why/come to terms of what he has done

The newer songs we will have come out will be strictly about mental Health disorders that we all deal with

-addiction
-ptsd
-depression
-body dysphoria
-anxiety

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Yes, we write everything pretty much the guitarist Wayne uses guitar pro to write our the structure/melodies and then gives it to everyone else. We then fine tune it, jam it together and fine tune it again. Once we record the instruments we have our vocalist write the lyrics/fine tune the lyrics.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released singles mainly:

-Servitude
-Lamentations
-Aeons of doubt
-Harlots
-Death Whispers (most recent Single)

(Releasing another song Feb 28th)

People can expect melodies, chugs, breakdowns, orchestra, screeching vocals, and grooves

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes we will be releasing a new song on February 28th, with newer material expected with our new vocalist soon after.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

For right now tour and show wise we are sorta on a hiatus from those due to a lot of life changing things and trying to come back from those. For 2024 we took the whole year off because of mental health, physical health, member issues and life changes. We are working towards getting shows possibly in the summer time but with our main songwriter/ band mate Wayne the guitarist,  he is having a newborn that will be his main priority.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We plan on carrying on, getting out there with new music, new life, and a new aspect of life.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We are on all streaming platforms, merch we haven't recouped anything quite yet. Though we do have some older designs still in stock in our inventory Though sizes are limited.

Creative act DEMATUS blends the heavy with the rock to create something all their own, releasing various singles, EP releases, with new music a ton of songs in the works with some music videos to boot as well! They want to keep on releasing new music, more videos and playing shows, including some festivals come the future, see what else they had to say to us below!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We got our band name from a scientific spider name, we took Dematus out of it and created that as our band name. We didn't want anything that had meaning because our previous band name Theory Of God brought us nothing but problems. Even though Theory of God came from how every band member at the time came from different religions.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We came from playing marching band, jazz, and honestly metal just felt right with having to play complicated rhythms and melodic parts. Plus screaming just allows you to express a lot of emotions.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes we all went to high school together. The drummer Ryan and vocalist Jessica was in jazz band and marching band together. We didn't form the band Dematus till way after high school.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based out of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. There is a lot of amazing bands out here in the burgh, one you should check out is Reign of Z. She helped us get shows when we first moved out here and welcomed us with open arms. She's such a kind soul.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The guitarist and vocalist Jessica said that her emotions and feelings inspire her song writing.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

The songs cover a wide variety of life experiences, including the lost of love ones.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

We write all of our songs, it always starts out with Jessica our vocalist and guitarist coming with riff ideas and vocal parts. Then our drummer Ryan and bassist Brian comes up with their part.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released Ghost Carnivale, Side Show, and songs off of Hypnotized. You can expect half of our songs to be heavy and half of our songs to be rock. We like to explore both worlds and don't ever want to be cornered into a box. Always want to keep our creative musical freedom.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

We have tons of songs in the works and a couple music videos in queue to release. We won best song of 48 hour film festival we can't wait to share with everyone.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are trying to get new shows in new cities, music festivals, etc.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We plan to keep writing new songs, create new music videos, and play big festivals in the future.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can check out our website http://www.dematus.com and buy our music off all websites like iTunes, Amazon, and listen to us on all streaming services.

Atmospheric metalcore act SILENCE BECOMING is straight out of Texas, fusing together some heavy riffs with emotional damage that causes some depth but attitude! So much in fact, that the band discusses their recent single's out currently, with some new music maybe coming soon! With some summer plans possibly happening later on.

1. Who are you and what is it that you do?

We are Silence Becoming, and we attempt to create “atmospheric” metalcore. Basically super synth driven, ambient metal.

2. Where is the band from and how would you say the music scene is like there, have any artist or band recommendations?

Half of our members reside here in Austin, while the other half is around the San Marcos/San Antonio area. The Austin and San Antonio scenes are VERY different from each other in terms of style, lyrical messages, and pit aggression. As far as some of our side projects, check out 719, Inside The Hollow, and Banshi US! Other than our other stuff, we love Left IV Dead, Like Ghosts, Future Ghost and Leda and The Swan, just to name a few of our many buddy bands!

3. How long has the band been together and how did it get it's start?

With our current finalized lineup, we have only been together since November! The band started as our vocalist Jacob’s solo project while he was searching to create a group. After close to a year since dropping the first single, the group has finally taken its form.

4. How did you come to get the band's name Silence Becoming, does it have a meaning behind it?

Honestly, “Silence Becoming” was made in a band name brainstorming session that was then chosen via internet poll. Jacob is the only current member that was active when the name was decided, and the name has no particular meaning per se, but we all stand behind it as a project that we are proud of. The name is what you make it.

5. To someone who has never heard you beforehand, how would you describe your music?

Groovy, lyric driven, melodic, ambient. We look to write things that will either get stuck in people’s heads or get them to move their bodies.

6. So you have not one but two single's "Change For You" and "Four Foot Ledge" tell me about these and what they mean to you?

Change For You is our dad rock anthem. This was originally written by Jacob with his previous band as an old school rock ballad, only now it has a modern polish. It was one of the first songs he ever wrote, and it’s what kick-started the group. This one will always be our baby.

Four Foot Ledge is an energetic, angry song about someone that is never in the wrong, plays the victim and makes issues out of nothing. This was another one released during the solo project era of the group, so we’re definitely ready to put out some of our new material out lol.

7. Does the band have any new music in the works?

All that we’ll say is that we MAY have some new stuff coming in the next few months… MAYbe *wink wink.*

8. How would you say your writing and recording process is like?

We spend multiple nights a week going over to our drummer Skyler’s house. We are genuinely just five great friends that hang out a bunch and then next thing you know, we end up with a full demo by the end of each hangout session. We all have similar tastes but differing styles, and we mesh insanely well together. It’s cool to watch everything blend so effortlessly. We tend to write at least one full song a week.

9. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Jacob is our primary lyricist in this current stage of writing, though he wants to branch into the other members’ brains for lyrics down the road. The songs we have been writing as of recently mainly cover the topic of betrayal, whether from friends, the government, significant others, etc.

10. Do you have any other plans, shows, touring, etc.

Until we drop our debut EP drops, we will be (Ju)lying low.  We’re thinking that MAYbe we’ll have another show when the first single drops!

11. What is up next for this year for you guys?

If the readers haven’t picked up on some hints, we have some exciting stuff coming up. We are wrapping up a lot of new music and we seriously cannot wait to finally bring in the new era of the band!

12. Where can we find you online, listen to your music and buy your stuff?

We are on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok only as of now under @silencebecomingofficial. We are also on all streaming platforms. As of now, we do have a Shopify store in the Linktree link in our bio as well, and we will have some new designs up soon for the new EP!

Rockin female fronted act IGNESCENT has gone on to release some singles, a couple of EP's as well as an album, with all new music in the works due out soon enough! With he band to be playing some shows and even touring come the summer! The band talks of these matters below just with us!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

I was looking in the dictionary and came to the I's. I saw the word Ignescent means to spark and ignite and thought that was the perfect word for what I wanted our band to be about. To ignite people with our music and message.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I love bands like Flyleaf, Skillet, Evanescence and the energy of Rock music and love performing it on stage.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

 No. We didn't.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of the Chicago area. Metal is pretty big here and cover bands. 4th Point is a good band.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I write songs out of what I have or am experiencing and my struggle with anxiety and depression.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

"You're Not Alone" is about losing someone and dealing with anxiety and depression. I wrote it to encourage others that they are not going through these struggles and this life alone.

"Monster You Made" is about someone who deeply hurt me by betraying me and in a sense brought out the monster in me.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Yes. Sometimes I come up with a melody first and then the band comes up with music around it. Or sometimes I will write a melody and lyrics to the music. I also co-write with Jeremy Valentyne and Brandon Wolfe of the band, New Years Day, Sameer Bhattacharya of Flyleaf, and Ben Kasica formerly of Skillet.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We released an album, 2 EPs, and some singles. We will be releasing another 2nd album this summer. You can expect high energy music that has deep and real emotions.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes. We have a remake of a song we did that will be coming out through Frontiers Records and a new album out this summer.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Yes. We will be at Rock Fest and Immortal Fest this summer and our tour starts at the end of July.

Alchemize is a 5 piece R&B/metal fusion band from Manchester with 3 vocalists. The band have released just five tracks to date and have already landed official Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Pandora and TIDAL playlisting, coverage with BBC Radio 1, Kerrang, Dreambound, RTE2XM, Amazing Radio, Idobi Howl and played sold out headline shows as well as sharing stages with Defects and Black Coast. The band will release new single ‘Red Lights’ on the 24th January 2025 and recently announced signing to UK label Year Of The Rat Records (Lastelle, SAVE US, Kite Thief) - With plenty of new music to come the band will quickly establish themselves in the UK metal circuit with upcoming shows alongside Polar and Defences too.

Adam Kenyon - “With Red Lights, we wanted to shake things up a bit with the overall feel and sound with a hypnotic vibe. We wanted to try and capture a feeling of being stuck—numb, unmotivated, and completely blocked from creating. As a whole, it’s about craving an escape, a place where you can break free, live fully, and leave behind the struggles and darkness of being at home. As the track builds, the heavier instrumentation bursts in, setting the perfect energy for cutting loose and forgetting your worries, even if just for a while. The first verse brings a fresh twist with a smooth R&B groove, giving the song a funky, laid-back feel that fits the story perfectly without losing its edge. Then, the chorus cranks things back up with a mix of heavy instrumentation and pop-driven vocals, topped off with an infectious hook.  In the second verse, we wanted to keep it fresh, yet dynamic, seamlessly blending genres and keeping you on your toes. By the time the bridge and outro hit, the song takes off, delivering a high-energy finish that leaves you feeling unstoppable—both literally and metaphorically. This one’s all about letting go and living it up.”

Hard rockers RUINESS is a female fronted band, whose time together thus far, has lead them to chat with us about their formation, namesake, creative process with music, releases including their debut single "Your Friendly Neighborhood" as well as another single out soon! A lot else is planned for this year alone, with no plans on stopping them!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We were looking for something feminine yet edgy as we are female fronted but also wanted the name to sell that we gravitate towards a heavier sound. We have been tossing around ideas for weeks. Our vocalist Ariana was looking for synonyms online to random words to see if any stuck when she stumbled upon "ruinous" and said it out loud at a band meeting. Our guitarist Greg then said "no, RUINESS" and it stuck since.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

For the most part, we all have gravitated towards hard rock/metal. Our vocalist Ariana's biggest inspiration with writing/singing has been Paramore. We wanted something with a similar catchiness to their first few albums but definitely heavier.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Our drummer Dylan has known everyone in the band the longest. He over time introduced us all together initially with the idea of a band that does tribute sets such as Paramore, Flyleaf and Halestorm. We since started dabbling in originals and the rest became history. We have been playing together for a few years now but RUINESS was only born in early 2024 with our first original show in June opening for Eyes Set to Kill.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania amongst an absolutely BEAUTIFUL music scene. Everyone is so supportive of each other in this community, it is really beautiful to see. There are SO many talented artists out here, it is hard to name them all. A few for certain would be Observe the 93rd (our drummer Dylan's other original band), Lives Lost, KVRMA, Defiant, Eternal Frequency, and Voidhidden (our guitarist Greg's other original band).

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It is hard to speak for the other's, however I (Ariana) write as a means of an outlet. To put words to feelings in a hope that others looking for a release can find it in our music. I've written about betrayal, death, fear of settling down and night time depression to name a few.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

At this current moment we have 2 songs released. (Ariana here again! :) )

Our latest single Afterlife Line was written about a friend of mine that passed away in early 2024. My fallen friend was VERY close to a lot of my best friends. Writing this song was a release to those feelings while respecting that those around me were grieving harder. This became my release and I feel that really shows in the bridge.

Your Friendly Neighborhood... is a hard one to explain. I was burned by someone and wanted to show my own growth of saying I'm done playing blind and see you for what you have been to me instead of the blinders I chose to wear before. People play games unfortunately. Accountability and growth is huge in my eyes but until someone reaches that point, I guess they get a song.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Yes. The main writing is started between vocalist Ariana and guitar player Greg. I (Ariana) record me singing a melody and tapping a beat along with providing lyrics to Greg as I create and Greg brings them to life. Sometimes Greg will also send me something he created and I'll add melodies/lyrics accordingly. It honestly goes rather smooth and fast for us. Truly feels like we are a good fit as band mates. Once the foundation of the songs are set, Eric (bassist) and Dylan (drummer) take what we have so far and add their own flairs to it. I've joked before that Greg and I make the ice cream and Dylan and Eric add the toppings to turn it into a sundae.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far we have our first single "Your Friendly Neighborhood..." available on all streaming platforms along with a music video on YouTube. We also have our second single "Afterlife Line" available on all platforms with a music video right around the corner.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

Our next single "Settle Down" is almost ready for a release date! We so far have 6 originals ready for live shows with hopes of an album hopefully come summer time.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We have a LOT planned this year including playing in 6 new states and our first festival in June! (Rock On The Hill in Hanover, PA)

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We want to take this as far as this can go! We have NO PLANS of stopping and are having the time of our lives!

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

www.RUINESS.com houses our merch and links to all of our singles/videos so far! We try our best to keep this up to date on shows as well! More to come SOON!

Alternative rocker TENTILLDEATH has been quite creative with music, having not one but two acts, where they go into discussion about both! An array of material has been released, with more projects in the works currently, no plans to tour or show just yet, but someday perhaps! For now, they want to go on to release music, and have all follow them and let this growth consume all.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

There was actually two music groups I was part in and if it’s fine with you, I’ll discuss them both. If not, you can omit the one that’s not the main one. Originally me and my friend made a digital band called Flirting With Suicide. This name came from a sentence in a mental health book where the character described themselves as “flirting with suicide.” That phrase struck me in such bewilderment that I used that phrase to coin the name of our digital band. This digital band has been featured on all of my recent works except my latest album where that was all done by me. The name TenTillDeath comes from a concept I had in my head. It’s both the idea of being “ten seconds until death” and also a thing to do with age regression where some individuals may feel like they’re mentally a child while being an adult. In this case, feeling like a ten year old until my death, sarcastically of course.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I felt the desire to enter alternative rock in 2023 as a result of what was going on in my life at that time. I was coming off of a splitting from my ex fiancé and felt an anger towards the world that I had not felt up until that point . Being able to make the music that I grew up with just felt right at that time. Entering alternative rock did help me find a new passion for a genre that I shrugged off for years.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The members of Flirting With Suicide have known each other since 2020, and made music with each other as far back as 2020; however, Flirting With Suicide wasn’t formed until 2023.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

TenTillDeath and Flirting With Suicide are based out of Cleveland, Tennessee. Cleveland, Tennessee doesn’t really have an alternative rock scene; however, the neighboring city, Chattanooga, has a community of punks and goths alike!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

What inspires me to write songs can’t be contained to one specific thing. Like most people, I’ll normally write however I’m feeling at that stage in my life; however, music that I’m listening to at that moment in time will strongly affect the output of the project. So when I released my latest project, the Symphony of Suffering, I was listening to MCR’s the Black Parade, Pierce the Veil’s Collide With the Sky, the Damned, Good Kid, and the Cure. The pop punk melodies of Good Kid, with the overly emotional vocals of MCR can be heard throughout the project. Lastly, the artists I’m listening to inspire me to write songs. I’ll deconstruct their projects lyrically and become encompassed by their writings; saying to myself, “I’d like to try something like this but in my own music”.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

My songs messages and topics usually vary by the project; however, most of my music dwells on sadness, internal struggles, doubt, and suicide. Many of my songs cover uncomfortable themes such as age regression, failing at suicide, social anxiety, and even the topic of rape. I believe these topics being discussed about in music form opens up a gateway for normalizing discussions on such sensitive subjects.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Every song has been written by myself, with added input from friends or referenced lyrics. Usually one or two things will happen during my song process: 1. I’ll hear a song I like and want to make my own version of it. Or 2. I’ll start with a clean slate from an instrumental. If it’s not option one and we are making an original song from scratch, then that’s when it gets a bit interesting. I ask myself what does the song need to be about. Does the song need to be silly? Does the song need to be encouraging? If the song is a part of a story concept album, then I’ll find a way to make that song a part of the story itself. Lastly, we get to the actual song writing process. I will play the instrumental over and over again on loop, until I come up with a vocal flow that works. Then, I’ll usually test different lyrics I come up with and make revisions. So for example, we’ll take this lyric: “I’ve lost my soul and I’m dead.” I’ll take that lyric and practice it over the instrumental to hear how it sounds. Can I make any changes to it? How can I make this lyric sound even more confessional and emotional to listeners? That’s where revisions come into the lyrics to make them feel even more charged. I would take the above lyric and revise it into: “My soul’s far gone since I kissed death.” Other times I may even reference another artist’s lyrics for a line in my music if it fits with the song.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Currently, I’ve released a ton of Mexican-American hip-hop and gothic-post hardcore, alternative rock. The projects we released since we went alternative rock are: Trauma Ruined My Life, Death’s Revenge, and The Symphony of Suffering. Listeners can expect extremely emotionally charged and confessional lyrics between all three projects, on top of overly vulgar screaming. If listeners like the sound of MCR’s first two albums, gothic rock, and early 2000s screamo, then Death’s Revenge and The Symphony of Suffering are a perfect fit for those.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

I currently have two projects in the works. I have a return to form hip hop album that’s mostly finished as I have seen tremendous support for my older hip hop work since I started doing alternative rock. Listeners in Mexico have been supporting me non stop in the hip-hop avenue since I quit hip-hop, so this is my way of giving back to them. My other project in the works is another theatrical pop-punk, post hardcore album that’s going to have layered vocals and even more screaming like the previous album.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

At the moment, we have no plans of touring or playing shows just yet. If 2025 goes accordingly, we may attempt to do a live performance.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

In the future, we’re hoping to collab with other smaller bands and at some point, we want to collaborate with TX2. If this can happen, I will literally fucking cry.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to Rojelio (TenTillDeath) on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Bandcamp. We currently don’t have any available merch, but as we’ve been growing greatly this year, we may put out merch.

Metal rocker LEDA AND THE SWAN is a solo project but works as a band, since the main person behind it all, does a lot of what goes into it all! With that said, that person talks with us, about formation, creative process with creating the music, writing, including an album out titled "Into Crimson", with a follow-up album in the works currently! His main focus is to continue releasing music through this aspect, and create even more projects including one called Thirteenth Dimension.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name originates from a poem based on Greek mythology. Leda And The Swan was originally the title of a song I was writing for my old band Carved Away, and I ended up really liking the title and decided it would be a good name for my next metal project.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Metal and rock was a music genre that really stood out to me as a kid. I always liked the culture surrounding it as well as the more profound topics that are common within the genre.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The funny thing about Leda And The Swan is that I always refer to it as a band, when in reality it’s really just me writing songs by myself. I have always preferred it that way for some reason.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I was born in Dallas, TX. eventually moving to Austin, TX where I established Leda And The Swan. I’m not too familiar with other bands yet, however I do recommend listening to my friends in a band called Silence Becoming.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I’d have to say my biggest inspirations are my favorite bands growing up. Bands like Trivium, System Of A Down, and Motionless In White. Every time I sit down to write a song, I have to try my best not to accidentally write a knock off Trivium song.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

All of my songs for Leda And The Swan are first hand encounters I’ve had in life. I’d say 90 percent of my music involves me oversharing my stories. Sometimes, I hesitate to release some songs, songs like “Forever & Always?”,”Charades & Mimicry”, and “Unevangelized” are a few tracks that I struggled to write for emotional reasons, but I believe in writing these songs that I can begin to process what I went through, and maybe even help someone who’s going through the same thing.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

In my music there comes a fictional story attached to every album / ep. I try my best to write cohesive stories through sound, and it’s a process that admittingly needs work. Therefore, all of my songs have to fit the story's narrative, which takes a loads of planning. Sometimes, it’s the longest part of the process. And it’s an aspect I hope listeners will enjoy.

Ever since I began writing music I have always preferred doing it alone. Writing songs is an intimate process that makes working with me a nightmare. Any old bandmate I had will tell you that I’m a control freak when it comes to writing and producing. My process for writing tends to begin with the guitar, the instrument I am most familiar with.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Most of my music in Leda And The Swan will primarily be metal, though sometimes I like to explore new genres. You can expect overall heavy music, and emotional turmoil, baked into every song lyric. Last year was the debut of “Into Crimson”, an album I began writing in high school at the age of seventeen, which is a main reason it sounds a bit all over the place. Into Crimson holds some of my most personal songs, and it's the project I have spent years crafting. “The Battle Of Amaranth” is my most recent release, and one I believe is a general improvement in many ways.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

I’m currently working on my second record, and it’s my biggest project yet. I have no release date planned unfortunately, but I’m trying to shoot for early 2026. I am also working on a film for my second band “Thirteenth Dimension”, and it’s looking to release sometime this year.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Playing shows have been something I tend to procrastinate on. It’s an aspect of music I need to work on due to my anxiety, but I do intend on playing my first show this year.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

I plan to get to a point in which I’m playing live constantly, as well as releasing bigger projects more consistently.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Leda And The Swan is available on almost every streaming platform. Apple Music and Spotify mainly, the same goes for my side project Thirteenth Dimension. YouTube is where you’ll find all of my music videos. I currently have no merchandise yet. However, It is something I intend on having pretty soon.

Metal go getters KISSING LILITH have a few single's out and about, with plans already set for more single's expected real soon. The band discusses these releases, song process, lyrical content, formation, how they got their name, to building a presence and just releasing music!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Gavin was the one who came up with a list of band names that he sent to people we figured would be our target audience to see what resonated most with them. He chose names he thought were catchy, edgy, and sexy. Most importantly, he chose names he could easily imagine on posters and lineups with similar already successful bands. “Falling in Reverse, In This Moment, Kissing Lilith, A Day To Remember”. It just sounded like success to him. Some of the other popular choices from the list were “My Sweet Mistress”, “Carnal Rule”, and “Paradise by the Ashes”.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We (Cody and Gavin) come from very different backgrounds musically. Cody being a jazz major and classic rock fanatic while Gavin having a deep love for alternative 2000s, nu-metal, and 90s rap. The music we play is a combination of our influences and childhood heroes being concentrated through the creative lens of our perspectives on how their art spoke to us growing up.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes and no. We met just prior to the band being formed when Gavin auditioned to be the lead singer of the band Ozolith. A former band of Cody’s. While Gavin didn’t get the part, Cody still wanted to work with him on something separate and after some back and forth texts and rough guitar tracks being sent, the band was born.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Kissing Lilith is based out of Ohio, Specifically Cleveland and Akron areas. The music scene has really changed over the past decade with it becoming a much more welcoming place for new musicians to spread their wings and work together with other artists. There are a plethora of local bands we’d recommend checking out including:

Killstreak, Unhealthy When Unhinged, Dead Cassette, Cult of Crowley, Burning River Band, Truss, A Sense of Purpose, Dread, and Pray for Sleep.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Real life events and personal internal/external struggles and ideologies inspire the lyrics to our songs. Basically Gavin writes about what he knows about and can bleed most honestly only the paper when writing. Cody just writes..and writes..and writes..the man is a machine.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Toxic relationships, healing, self confidence, self doubt, inspiring others and ourselves to be better and live happier, suicidal thoughts and topics of depression and regret, topics of internal turmoil and hope for finding peace and happiness.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Usually Cody will write a guitar riff or a full track and send it to Gavin. Sometimes it’s one or two riffs. Sometimes it’s 10 whole tracks. From there Gavin will listen and see which tracks resonated with him the most. Then we both choose one song to focus on. Cody will finish writing the body of the song on guitar and then Gavin will write lyrics and vocal melodies. We set up times and dates to get together and demo the song. Rewriting as we record to make sure the song makes sense and is impactful. Afterwards we outsource the drums to a session drummer for recording. Lately we’ve been having Bradley Knepp (the human metronome) as our session drummer and he has been doing a phenomenal job. After the song is written and demoed out as much as possible we take it to a studio engineer to properly record and mix the track before prepping release.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far we have released two songs and three photo shoots. Song 1) “Lipstick and Gasoline” ~ a heavy hitting song about a toxic relationship involving sexual manipulation, a fake pregnancy, and death threats. This song features fast pace rap like lyrics with a catchy hook alongside aggressive instrumentals to make the listener feel the exciting and anxious tension of the relationship throughout the entire song.
Song 2) “More Than Worth It” ~ a powerful song telling a story that every artist has lived: being told you are not good enough to do what you love to do. Derived directly from first hand experiences of Gavin from previous creative projects. This song leads with Gavin’s aggressive vocals and fast pace rap/singing but is further impacted by the chant vocals of the audience coming together to feel the power of the message “We are more than worth it”. With perfect pocket drums, “leveling up” guitar solo, and clear call to action, this song is one to inspire anyone and everyone who has ever been told to “give up” on their dreams.

We have 3 photo shoots out being the original cover shoot at the bar top, the Hellraiser car shoot, and the drowned shoot. We have multiple shoots being edited currently and planned for the future. We always take time to carefully plan and imagine the full scope of these shoots, just as we do for writing music. We feel many musicians and artists have forgotten that the photo shoots and cover arts are part of the image and artistic process. One of our biggest pet peeves or let downs is hearing an amazing band with an awesome image and then all of their photos are just 4 people standing side by side with their arms crossed in the wood or an abandoned building. We’re both guilty of it as well in other projects but for this one we would like to treat every aspect of the band as a form of true expression.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes! We currently have a studio session planned early February with Scooter Allen at Rewire Studio for our 3rd single and then will be headed to work with Billy Morris at his studio in Bay Village for our 4th single. One of which will include a music video and acoustic version of the song.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

As of right now we are currently focused on building our social media presence and releasing music. With only 2 songs out we currently have average 1k followers on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Along with 1.6k monthly listeners on Spotify. It’s been an amazing journey of trial and error trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t for social media marketing and song promotion. Once we have our 5th official single released we will be holding open auditions for a permanent drummer and bassist. With the schedule we’re on now we hope to hold these auditions by early summer of 2025.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We plan on releasing regular content on all social media platforms including short and long form content, content for people just meeting us, content for people who have been following us for some time now, releasing singles ever 8-10 weeks, photo shoots and live sessions posted on social media, music videos, featured artists, new merch, and finding the rest of the members of the band. We also have back end plans of having out social media audited, planning interviews like this one and on podcasts/radio stations, and finding new ways to interact on a personal level with our audience.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

As of right now we have our music posted on all platforms. Our main platforms being potify and YouTube under the band name, Kissing Lilith. You can find our social media on TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. We do have a merch line available through our linktree on all our social media.
