May 2025

Goth pop rockers GOLEM DANCE CULT have released thus far an EP, an album, including an all new album out this summer on Friday the 13th come June 2025! The band discusses his release, how their formation came forth, and promoting themselves and this all new album done just by them.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

With Laur (singer) we had actually started our musical journey together when we were teenagers... (we even toured together in our respective band and always stay friends, but eventually we had each followed our musical path...) That is, until 2021, during this strangest of times (pandemic, lockdown), we reunited for a new musical adventure under the moniker "Golem Dance Cult.

For Golem Dance Cult our main starting point was: “hey, let’s do something like an old Hammer movie directed by Dali and recoloured by Andy Warhol”.

During our very first band together Laur was the drummer and now, in addition to percussion, he is the main singer, sharing vocals duties with Charles Why, who is playing bass, guitars, cigar box, harmonica, various traditional instruments (Shamanic Drums, Shruti Box, Gong, … ), programming, sampling, while manning the production.

In Golem Dance Cult, we are joined by Klaus Karloff, a mysterious misanthrope German Shaman, who is in charge of the mastering aka "Sonic Seance".

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name is a tip of the hat to the myth of this man-made creature, the Golem, that protect the oppressed and at the end goes out of control.. The foreboder of Frankenstein some say... You can read a lot into that.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Half of the band is in France (Besancon) while the other is in Australia (Upwey, Victoria). Don’t know that much about Besancon but I know the rock scene is fertile Down Under. In Upwey, we have the great Dave Graney, who is a legend, the amazing singer Inga Liljestrom, the superb The Black Heart Death Cult (no relation;-) and new comer -of sort- Maggie Alley.

4. How would you describe your style?

We used to define our music as Industrial Dance Rock. However Goth Pop has been used in some reviews which is kinda relevant. The sound of Golem Dance Cult is heavy (both Laur and Charles are “sons of the mighty guitar congregation”) but danceable: a "mechanic, ritualistic groove with soul and grit". One of the main parameters being that the intention need to be kept spontaneous (favoring vibe over perfection), instinct followed and mistakes expanded upon. A rock based style without the formal structure of the genre and bringing an electronic approach in the layering of the tracks, done following a DIY ethic!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far we have released an EP “Grotesque Radio” in 2021 and a long form album “Legend of the Bleeding Heart” in 2023.

You can expect the unexpected as even if we have our own “sound” we continue to evolve and to expand our creative horizon.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, on Friday the 13th of June, the label Pugilat Deluxe will release our new album,  “Shamanic Faultlines”, 13 tracks which will be available on vinyl (black and splatter), CDs and digital.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

The plan is to see how the album goes and plan a tour accordingly starting in Victoria, Australia this summer (December/January).

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Our main project right now is to promote our second album (long format) “Shamanic Faultlines” which will be released on vinyls, CDs and digital on Friday the 13th of June… Sharing the Strangeness around!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

BandCamp (https://golemdancecult.bandcamp.com/), our own website www.golemdancecult.com and some “brick and mortars record shops” such as Captain Stomp Records (Ferntree Gully, Australia), Upwey Music Shop (Upwey, Australia), Fnac Forum Besancon (France). We will update our website and socials with list of record shops that will stock  “Shamanic Faultlines” along the way.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

“Shamanic Faultlines”, maybe more than our other albums, has been created like a story, an audio-visual voyage. We just would like people to try experiment it with an open attitude....

Progressive metal band DARKFLOW have been doing music for a while now, releasing a couple of full-length's, EP, and array of singles. Their latest album was released just recently, with no plans yet as far as shows and or tours go. But the music is where it is at and the frontman vocalist Sean Horror, goes into talks about that latest album and those plans in motion.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

DarkFlow is a Shock Metal act from Switzerland, created in 2019. DarkFlow was created by Sean Horror and Flow, after creating the style that defines DarkFlow, we released our first EP called “6” in 2020, then we developed more our music into something more theatrical and dramatic, we released “Insane Circus”, we had worked with Andy LaRocque from King Diamond since “Insane Circus” and he produced with us our last opus called “Imminent End” which was released the 27th of May 2025. Now about the members, DarkFlow’s original members are Flow (Lead Guitar/Composer) and Me (Sean Horror Singer/Lyricist/Frontman), we had many formations and many musicians who had the pleasure to share creation and stages with us, but now DarkFlow is finally with a solid band, Our members other members are Meech K (Rythm Guitar), Soa Grihim (Drums) and Dr. Trykster (Bass) and we are more than a team, we are all friends and we all have the same goal. Make the darkest band on earth ahahahah.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Flow came with the idea of the name which I immediately accepted because I loved it, I feel that the cosmic phenomena of “Darklow” which exists is a mysterious, yet scary reality that lives in our universe. So of course DarkFlow was born with that name, the only “Change” is that we use the D and the F in caps. We know we’re not the only band with that name but we have more numbers and we created something that has been internationalized. So DarkFlow is our name and our product is our music. We invite people to hear our music and follow us. DarkFlow is here to stay.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re based in Lausanne, the French part of Switzerland, there are many acts that I could recommend. DarkFlow being one of the representing bands of Shock Rock in Switzerland we have had the chance to share the stage with many excellent bands like Algebra (Thrash Metal), Shrooms Circle (Doom Metal), Monkey3 (Progressive Rock), Peace Is Just A Break (Death Melodic Metal), AM/PM (Death Metal). We have a very great quantity of quality bands in Switzerland but there are few of them actually going outside the country and having created followers beyond Swiss borders.

4. How would you describe your style?

We use the name of Shock Metal, but we also mix Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Gothic Metal, Symphonic Metal, Electronic elements in some songs, making them a little bit more dynamic and each song is very different from each other. But the main point is that we mix theatre with metal music and we like to make it on our own terms and that defines what DarkFlow is.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

As said before, we released an EP called “6” in 2020, then “Insane Circus” in 2023, and now a few days ago we released “Imminent End”.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We’re working on new music, yes, I am focusing on building a concept and we’re going to be doing new releases in due time. There are some ideas we’re sharing and talking about between me and Flow, and we’re going to work for a new album soon. We’re now focused on the promotion of “Imminent End” but we will give our best shot to be doing something that pushes new boundaries soon. The creativity we have is endless, adding to my horror concepts, scary things are coming!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Touring is on the table, yes, but I have just passed through a very complicated surgery so I am not available for shows or a tour until further notice. I want to be in perfect shape to do concerts, because our concerts are mixed with theatre and I take that role very strongly, so for giving people the best of me I have to be in shape, but soon I will start the booking and negotiating process to deliver and bring with my highest standards a show that people will never forget. So we will announce that soon.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

My plans are promoting our music, doing shows and creating new music, To be everywhere we can and to create a strong full fanbase for our journey to be easier and I will always be in proximity with the people who like our music and come to our shows. I believe that being there and creating good relations with your audience is something that lasts forever. So, if you ever come to a DarkFlow concert and ask to talk with Sean Horror, I will be pleased to give my time to those who want to meet with me. I can’t say the same for the band since we all have different approaches with people, but I am very into socializing with people.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to our band through every streaming site, you can see videos on YouTube and subscribe because there will be live performances coming on video too. and for buying our merch, we just started selling our vinyl for Imminent End on BandCamp, soon we will come with a new merch site and with many new items to sell. Also if you come to the shows, there will always be a merch stand and we will always bring new items to our stands, also I am always going to show up in one moment or another to the merch stand to sign merch and give people the moment to take pictures and share with me.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The important thing which is hard to make people understand is the powerful theatrical lyrics. But if you like our production and you like what we do, then that’s a win for me, we work very hard and if you remember our melodies, or our harmonies, that the music gets in your head, then we have achieved our goal. Making music is very personal, people liking it is a very great thing, it brings the strength and moral to keep going and keep working on the music. Thank you very much for this interview, Sean Horror

Up and coming band INSONIKA have released two EP's, two album's, and a whole lot of singles, with a new single out this summer! They want to keep releasing music, with some shows and tours to happen soon! The band discusses all of this stuff below!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Insonika started as a three piece with current singer and guitarist Oscar, bassist Daniel as well as our original drummer Mattias. It started off as a jam project in 2017 that turned into a band and we wrote tons of music and toured extensively. During Covid current rhythm guitarist Sebastian joined, but first on keyboards, after a while we found that guitar and backing vocals/screams suited him better and he switched. He still does keyboards on our recordings. And in 2024 we had to part ways with Mattias and Simon joined the band on drums and now we’ve started our journey towards making music that we love and playing shows that we want to do.

So the lineup is:

Oscar - guitar and vocals
Daniel - bass
Sebastian - synths, guitar and backing vocals
Simon - drums

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The origin of the band name started with something that Daniel actually heard in a dream. It was a bunch of words but in the midst of those words was Insonika and I (Oscar) immediately reacted and said “that’s pretty damn cool” and that was the name we chose.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you
could recommend?

We are based out of Jönköping, Sweden. The scene here has been dead for quite some time, but it is starting to resurrect with new and young bands flooding the scene! Some local bands that I would recommend are Ravened, OutBound and also Reedon Green. All amazing  musicians and span different genres of music.

4. How would you describe your style?

We have a hard time with this question as we all have such different inspirations that bleed into our music. But I would describe it as an unholy union between Mastodon, Ghost and Porcupine Tree.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far in our journey as a band we’ve released two EP's, two albums and in 2025 we’re getting into releasing singles. We’ve released two so far. I think what you can expect from our music is an ever changing mass, but the core always remain an Insonikacore.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes! We’re releasing a new single called “Ashes of Certainty” on June 13th 2025!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We’ve got some shows and tour stuff in the planning stage but nothing is official as of yet!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We want to keep making music and build a fanbase that hopefully enjoy what we do and get the message we’re trying to put across. We also want to tour more and more.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

If you want to listen to us you can do it everywhere that you stream music (Spotify, Deezer etc..).
We haven’t anything to buy yet, but we’re looking into getting new merch and that good stuff! When we have it you’ll find it at insonikaband.bandcamp.com.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

As a listener I want you to remember the raw energy that we put into each track. There’s always an emotion coming across that we try to capture in the best way possible. Be that through a heavy riff, dreamy synth line or lyrics.

JAY DRAPER AND THE SUBTERRANEANS is a goth pop punk rock projected band, that has been actively doing music since their formation in 2016. Since then, they have released singles, and two full-length albums, with new music on the way! Plans for now, is to create music, play when possible and much else. The band talks about all of this below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Jay Draper & the Subterraneans is primarily a studio recording project that was formed in 2016 while I was on a break from my main band, The Scarlet Fever, and originally was more of a collaboration between me and Justin Minister (former guitarist for Amy’s Arms, touring bassist for Sex Gang Children, and current bassist for The Scarlet Fever). We also frequently had guest artists collaborate with us, like members of Faith and the Muse (USA), L'autre Dame (Toronto), and Bloody Blue Darlings (Toronto), and may others. After a couple of singles, we put out our first full length album, Behind the Night, in 2021. Since then, Justin has mainly stepped away from the project, so I’ve been using it more as a solo effort, and just recently I put out the second full length, Dollhouse, which features guest performances and producers from members of SU (Montreal), L'autre Dame (Toronto), Poor Violet (Toronto), Animal Party (Toronto), and Attaloom (Toronto).

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The Subterraneans thing was for a couple of reasons. Mainly because I had spent the previous 15 years living in a rat-infested basement apartment with ceilings so low I couldn’t stand up all the way in parts of it, while also working in a basement store for at least 10 of those 15 years. During the long Toronto winter months, I would often only see daylight on my walk to work in the morning. I’m a night time guy, but it honestly got really depressing after a while. So, the name felt very personal to me. I literally was a subterraneans at the time, and still in many was feel like one. Secondly, we knew from the get go that nothing we were going to do would probably consider “mainstream”, so I felt it also had the effect of embracing the underground music scene in Toronto that we came from. It’s part of why we wanted to work with as many other underground artists from the scene as we could. It’s how we get that subterraneans sound.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Well, I guess that’s a good segue from my last answer. Obviously, we are a Toronto based project, and we try to work with as much local talent as we can. Of course, I would highly recommend the bands and artist we’ve worked with, but there are a bunch of cool acts here that don’t always get the limelight they deserve. I’d definitely give a shout out to:

Double Eyelid
L'autre Dame
SU
Spectral Eyes
Poor Violet
Attaloom
Animal Party
Bloody Blue Darlings
KOK
Cadavers
Death Mask
Soap Eater

And of course, check out my other band, The Scarlet Fever, that will hopefully have a new album out later this year or possibly early next year.

4. How would you describe your style?

It’s always hard describing yourself. The main influences range from post punk ((Magazine, Joy Division, Wire), early goth (Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Specimen) and early 70s glam rock (Bowie, Brain Eno, Roxy Music), but there is also some psychedelic sounds like Floyd in there, and more synth driven stuff like Gary Numan or Kraftwerk. I guess if I was to label us I’d say post punk inspired. I don’t like to get pined down to any one sound too much though. The fun part of a studio project is getting to experiment with different sounds. We’re definitely on the darker more existential crises side of the music spectrum though.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far, we’ve put out two double A side singles, two regular singles, and two full length albums. I’d like to say you should expect the unexpected, but I guess there is usually an element of drama and existential issues that usually comes with what we do. I once said we’re like a panic attack you can dance to.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Always. I’m worried that if I stop, I might die. I’ve never tested it, but the fear is real. If nothing else there is a new Scarlet Fever album on the way, but I’ve definitely been working on tracks for further singles or a new full length sometime soon.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Scarlet has always been my main live act. At one point Justin and I tried to put together something live for Subs and we managed to rehears a bunch and then play a secret house party show, but soon after the pandemic descended on everyone, and not long after that the live group dissolved do to lack of momentum. I’d be into trying it again if I found the right people who could commit time to it.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

To continue to put out music and to find new talent to work and expand my horizons with. I would love to get a live act going for this again, and it would be a dream to bring them or Scarlet overseas to tour Europe and the UK. I feel like we’d be better appreciated there, but there is a lot that goes into setting things like that up and it’s difficult to say what the future holds when we’re all living in a state barley-controlled chaos.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

The Main place would be our Bandcamp which can be found here. Do please check out the new album,

Dollhouse on your way through the gift shop.
https://jaydraperandthesubterraneans.bandcamp.com

And you can check out The Scarlet Fever here.
https://thescarletfever.bandcamp.com

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
Mainly stuff like that they left the oven on, or what they came into the room for but also, I hope they come away from it feeling like they’ve experienced something different. Something that has elements that they are familiar with, but that the whole is something they can’t quite describe. If they enjoy it, great. If it scares them, even better. I just don’t ever want to bore anyone. Dullness is the ultimate sin.

Alt rock favorites Yellowcard are celebrating the announcement of their new album Better Days by releasing the lead single and title track “Better Days” along with album track “honestly i.” Better Days is the band’s first full feature length album in almost a decade and will be available on October 10th. This highly anticipated album is produced as well as executive produced by Travis Barker. Barker also plays drums on every song.

The single “Better Days” is an unflinching reflection on gratitude, forgiveness, perspective, and purpose. Once ubiquitous on MTV and the Billboard Hot 100, the Vans Warped Tour veterans, whose first two albums produced double-platinum and gold title tracks, sound fully recharged and revitalized in 2025. William Ryan Key, Sean Mackin, Ryan Mendez, and Josh Portman have never sounded stronger. The song “Better Days” is also accompanied by a music video that has the guys depicting iconic 80’s movie characters performing in a vintage video shop. Directed by Jordan Phoenix, the video is a refection of how much fun the guys are having this time around as a band and with their music. Ryan Key says, “We are focused on this chapter of our career being about happiness. This is the most fun we’ve had making a video in 20 years and we hope everyone has a smile on their face when they watch it.”

The band agreed that making a new album was pointless unless it was the best of their career. They refused to rush the process and for the first time gave themselves permission to ask for help. Ryan Mendez invited his long time friend Nick Long into the writing sessions and it was through Long that Barker became part of the project, coming on board to play drums and produce the whole album.

“I started the record as one version of myself and came out the other side changed,” says front man Ryan Key who credits Barker with a significant impact on his personal and creative studio breakthroughs. “I went in knowing I needed help. I came out of it writing songs like I was 19 again.”

Formed in Jacksonville FL in 1997, Yellowcard became one of the most influential bands in the 2000’s alternative rock scene. Known for blending high energy pop punk with a signature violin twist, their 2003 breakthrough Ocean Avenue is certified Platinum with the title track now certified 2 times platinum. With over 4 million albums sold worldwide and over 1 billion streams, the band is poised for continued success on this new endeavor. After disbanding in 2017, Yellowcard reunited in 2022 entering into a new creative era and a year packed with a global tour to support it.

Pasadena Comic Con has been around for a few years now, having gotten the chance to attend in 2024, returning for 2025 would be a given. This year was no different, except it felt like it was a lot smaller, a lot of guests made appearances, including Power Rangers like Charlie Kersh as the new but original Mighty Morphin Power Ranger as the Yellow ranger. A lot of the Power Rangers from Light Speed Rescue, then some other actors like Kel Mitchell famous for Good Burger, Tom Kenny famous for Spongebob Squarepants, other artists and creators like artist Derek Riggs known best for his work on Iron Maiden’s artwork.

With many other guests hanging out, meeting with fans, signing stuff, doing videos, and having fun. Various vendors were set up with tables selling comic books, appeal, toys, props, prints, stickers, key chains, and much else. This convention is small but not that small, its a decent sized event, with some things to do, panels to check out, cosplay contest to witness, and lots of people to run into. You can find yourself getting something out of it, one way or another.

LIVE PHOTOS:

Having taken place in Pasadena, California at the Pasadena Convention Center, this minor convention, is surely to make a comeback for many more years. Even with this year’s rundown needing a date change from January 2025 to May 2025 just in time for summer, it worked and all there enjoyed themselves.

Groove/thrash metal band INCITE has released "Dolores," the third single from their highly anticipated upcoming album, Savage New Times, which is set to be released on August 15, 2025, via Reigning Phoenix Music. "Dolores" demonstrates INCITE's ability to evolve while pushing the boundaries of their musical style. The track is a sophisticated blend of melody and mayhem, maintaining a brutal core while exploring new sonic territories. It’s a testament to the band's artistry, showcasing their skill in fusing melodic elements with their traditional heavy metal roots. The result is a complex, layered composition that highlights not only their technical proficiency but also a mature musical vision.

Frontman Richie Cavalera comments, “Dolores is the most boundary-pushing song we’ve ever made as a band. It’s shown us that we can push our sound into new areas while staying true to who we are and what we represent. It’s my personal favorite on this record, as it relates to a childhood dream I had. It’s insane to see and feel it come alive.”

Los Angeles Power Thrashers ANUBIS reveal the lyric video to new song “The Hood Collector.” One of three tracks that will be found on tomorrow’s digital EP release, ‘The Puppeteers.’ Pre-Save now HERE https://lnk.to/thepuppeteers.

"’The Hood Collector’ is one of the most straightforward power metal songs of our career,” explains singer Devin Reiche. “Melodic and upbeat, here we've taken cues from the classic German power metal bands from the '90s – Helloween, Gamma Ray, Edguy, etc.”

“Lyrically, this song is our tribute to Daryl Davis: a jazz musician who claims to have personally de-converted over 200 former Klan members and gotten them to renounce their hateful ways – each of them giving him their hood and robes as a symbolic gesture."
