Royal Hearts Discusses Show Plans, New Music, and More, More, More!

Metalcore band ROYAL HEARTS have had countless single's released, along with an EP, with new songs set for release sometime this year as well. With the band focused in playing some shows in the coming months, wanting to do more, release more music, and keep it growing more, more, and more! The band discusses all of this plus more below.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Back when we started we wanted something that was memorable and easy to say, we liked the idea of having hearts in the name as a nod to some of our mid 2000s influences and sort of just came up with it. Unfortunately there is no deeper or hidden meaning behind the name Royal Hearts.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Growing up in the 2000s, going to Warped Tours and Taste of Chaos tours alongside local shows at Pompano Indoor Skatepark, Solid Sound Studios, The Talent Farm, we all were drawn to music that was anchored in melody but pushed more into the heavier side of the scene.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Ryan & Nelson briefly knew each other prior to Royal Hearts but in reality, we all were complete strangers when we started - having met through online forums or mutual friends.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Our band is based out of Fort Lauderdale Florida, with our vocalist relocating to Jacksonville Florida a few years ago. The scenes in both cites are growing & welcoming with some really great bands that are blowing up - The Requiem, Lilith’s Demise, Heavy Hitter, Not Enough Space, Right Here Right Now, Phantom Limbs, Lost Trees are all great bands out of Florida that we 100% recommend.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I’d say this answer is different for each of us but for me, Ryan, my vocal and lyric identity stems from my love of bands like Senses Fail, Silverstein, Thursday - I pull from a very emotive place when I write and aim to keep my approach as honest as possible - in terms of lyrics and the performance of my vocals.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Most of our music is anchored around the idea of existing as we grow up/older. We touch on a lot of interpersonal growth and relationships with others - its our way of processing the fact that no matter what we do - time presses forward and we simply have to move forward with it.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

We often collaborated with bare bones ideas and then take a remote approach where we share files back and forth - giving us time to digest each others ideas, create them with no inhibitions and then workshop from there to finish any particular song.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Since 2019 we have released an EP of our very first songs but have continued to follow that up with 12 singes since then - there is a through line from our very first releases to our most recent that clearly signifies these are all us - we may shift around inside of our style but we keep our core identity of metalcore and post hardcore close to our chest.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

We currently have three new songs wrapped up to continue releasing into 2025, with more at various stages of completion.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

With Spring getting closer, we have a string of March dates planned with our friends in Chasing Airplanes and are actively wrapping up dates for some of our first Out of State shows.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

This may be a tired sentiment but we want to continue to build a community around Royal Hearts - we will take it as far as our supporters allow us. Getting to write our own music and having others support it is always a humbling experience but or goal is to grow RH as big as we can and become a name that people talk about, connect with, grow with.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

All of our music is on all DSP services and can be found here - linktr.ee/royalheartsfl
