Blank Era Talks of Growth, Creation with Music and Being Empowered!

Solo artist known simply as BLANK ERA comes out of Nashville, getting her inspiration from life and experiences it brings. Her debut EP "Rotted" is out there, with even newer music already set in stone! Shows and tours are expected to happen but not yet, for now growing as an artist is what's happening now, with music underway of course, see what she herself brings from this BLANK ERA!

1. Where did you get the idea for the name? Did you plan it, or did it just come out like that?

The name “BLANK ERA” came from the idea of reclaiming my identity and starting over with a blank page. To me, it reflects the freedom to grow and to change by allowing yourself to keep “filling in the blank” instead of staying boxed into one thing.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I’ve always been drawn to playing rock and metal music because it allows me to confront dark feelings and turn them into something empowering in a way that’s more raw, aggressive and authentic than other genres.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

BLANK ERA is actually a solo effort! It’s given me an opportunity to rediscover who I am as an artist on my own terms and I’m fortunate enough to bring that vision to life by collaborating with super talented producers/musicians.

4. Where are you band based out of, and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I’m based in Nashville! Which makes people automatically think of country, but it also has a surprisingly huge scene for rock and alternative music. Some of my fave local artists are The Other LA, Crashing Atlas and Barie.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

My biggest writing inspirations always come from life experiences. I use music as a way to process whatever I’m going through, and hopefully turn it into something that can potentially help others make sense of their own situations or at the very least feel a little less alone.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

On my debut EP ROTTED., each song  reflects on the messy process of growth by confronting your own flaws, grieving the parts of you that are keeping you stuck and ultimately using it to empower yourself.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

The process usually starts with an emotion, a phrase or an overall message that I want to convey. From there, I’ll start playing with melody and lyric ideas and finding ways of blending vulnerability with humor and sarcasm. And then I start working with producers to shape the sound, experiment with layers of vocals and instruments to bring the entire vision to life.

8. What have you released so far, and what can someone expect from your works?

I dropped my very first 5 song EP in November, and it’s for anyone who’s felt stuck or misunderstood but is ready to fight their way forward by letting go of who you used to be and embracing who you are.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes! I’ve been hard at work getting new music ready to release soon that I’m super excited about!

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Since I’m still a brand new artist, at the moment, I’m working on writing/releasing more music while I focus on growing and connecting with my audience.... but live shows and touring are absolutely on my radar! Performing is one of my favorite parts of being an artist, and I can’t wait to start taking advantage of cool touring opportunities and showcasing the energy of BLANK ERA on stage.

11. What plans do you have for the future?

I want to continue to having fun creating music and challenging myself as an artist and performer. But ultimately, I would love to grow BLANK ERA into a movement and a community where people can feel seen, heard and empowered.

12. Where can we listen to your music and where can we buy your stuff?

You can stream BLANK ERA on all major platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, etc. You can also keep in touch by following me on social media. (Fun fact, I’m still small enough to reply to every comment and message so come through and say helloooo!)
