Comaniac's Jonas Returns to the Wasteland of Where He Came

Thrash metal maniacs Comaniac have come a long way since their formation during their teenage years enjoying all sorts of metal from here and there. Through the years they have written, recorded, and released music asll we as played shows of course! Their most recent efforts is an album called "Return To The Wasteland" with further plans on newer material and touring and shows all a work in progress. Guitarist Jonas discusses their recent album and plans in-store.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Jonas: Comaniac was founded in 2010 by Cédric (drums) and Jonas (guitar, voice)! But it took two more years as in 2012 Comaniac was complete to unleash the beast! Doom (lead guitar) and Ray (bass) joined the horde right after the first Demo "Cowshed Demo" was unleashed.

2. Why did you pick the name that you did for your band?

Jonas: Comaniac is a symbiosis of the words "company" and "maniac". This is what we're all about! you don't know why? well, check our music.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Jonas: We're from Switzerland and as Switzerland is one tiny little piece of the earths surface every band seems to be a local band here! but there is awesome music around us! just check out The Burden Remains for example! great thrash metal with a progressive and creative touch. Also our scene here is small but great.

4. How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?

Jonas: We're an old school thrash metal band: young and crazy as it should be! but we're not very narrow minded at all when it comes to metal! we try to include as many influences in music as possible in our songwriting. That's what makes music rich and interesting in our opinion.

5. What can people expect from this new album, why should they be interested and check it out?

Jonas: We've only got great reviews and feedback to our album! if you want to hear the Swiss finest: check us out! Even though we're old school we've got as much variety in pace, rhythm and songwriting included as possible without losing its sense - if you know what I mean.

6. Do you play live as well? What do you have planned in terms of shows and touring, if any?

Jonas: We're a live band! And that's what you see when we accelerate on stage. We've got some gigs planned in Croatia in May and until July we're playing some shows in Switzerland. We're ready so contact us if you want to see us in your local club!

7. What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?

Jonas: We think the music speaks for itself. Just give it a listen! It's a great and modern production without being overproduced. it suits the songs very well. and they are kicking you right in your dick sack. really!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Jonas: We're going to continue whatever comes! If there will be a time without shows we'll write new material to deliver another album and to reach more people! there's no stopping. As overkill said: head first!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Jonas: We're on YouTube with a professional video clip (you've got to see this!) and many lyric videos as well as the full album. If you prefer other platforms: come and meet us on SoundCloud or Bandcamp. If you want to contact us you'll find us on Facebook and on our homepage ( Please feel free to tell us your opinion to our music!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Jonas: Various riffs and aggressive vocals! and music that creates emotions.
