Lost In Atlantis's Eric Pinedo Is One Freak Of Nature!

Electronic rock band from Phoenix, Arizona Lost In Atlantis is a female fronted act that's been doing their thing for quite sometime now. Over the years they managed to gain a solid fan base through touring and social media and went on to release videos and an album called "Freak". Guitarist Eric Pinedo discusses that album and the plans they have from here on out.

1. Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Lost In Atlantis, and how long the band has been together.

Eric: I am Eric. I play guitar in LIA. The band has been together for about 5 years now. However, this currently line up is about a year old.

2. What type of band are you?

Eric: We consider ourselves Rocktronica or Electronic Rock.

3. Tell us the brief history of your band.

Eric: Liz and Eric met briefly in a previous band. After that band broke up, Eric and Liz started what was soon to be Lost In Atlantis. Eric's brother Tim, joined in on bass. After releasing our first album "Silent World" and our first music video for "Tek No" as a 3 piece (with fill-in members), LIA went on Epic Proportions Tour Spring 2012, where we met David and Ryan. After that tour, David and Ryan became official members of LIA. Together, as a 5-piece, we soon crafted our new album "Lover Freak (produced by Erich Talaba). We are releasing our new music video for "Zombie Love" this Fall 2013.

4. How did the band get the name, Lost In Atlantis does it have a story behind it?

Eric: Liz crafted the band name after seeing a special on TV about finding Atlantis. There is not a specific story related to it that we can speak of at the moment.

5. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Eric: The band is based out of Phoenix, AZ. The scene is generally hardcore, but is making a shift towards indie/new wave )as far as I know). I would recommend our friends Halocene (a pop rock band).

6. Who are your musical influences?

Eric: Musical influences vary among members, however bands often brought up are Incubus, Muse, Smashing Pumpkins, Thrice, Kesha, Lady Gaga, Finch, and No Doubt

7. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Eric: Generally our songs are metaphorically about love/relationships, break ups, redemption, finding yourself, etc.

8. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Eric: We do write our own songs. Generally, the song structure or main parts will be drafted by one member (usually Eric or Liz). Afterwards, each member will begin writing their own special parts for the ideas in which they are inspired.

9. How would you compare and differ Silent World and Lover Freak? How do you think the sound and style between the two has evolved?

Eric: Lover Freak shows the evolution of the band, finding our niche. We added heavier guitars, dancier synths, and bigger drums.

10. Is there any story or concept behind the Lover Freak title?

Eric: Lover Freak seemed the most appropriate for the title because the overall message in the lyrics was a dark, fun take on love/relationships. Additionally, "Lover Freak" is a featured lyric in Freak Out.

11. Who produced Lover Freak and what was it like working with them?

Eric: Erich Talaba (Yellowcard, Fall Out Boy, Anberlin) produced them album. We had a wonderful time in the studio with him. He helped us find the perfect blend in our music.

12. Who did the cover art for Lover Freak and how much input did you have on it?

Eric: Chris Moore from Zero Art Studios did the cover art for Lover Freak. We had a fair amount of input when it came to the overall concept.

13. You will be shooting a video for "Zombie Love" do you have an idea for how and what the concept will be and when it will be released?

Eric: We did shoot on Aug 31st. We are not sure when it will be released. Maybe around Halloween. Seems appropriate being about a Zombie eh?

14. Describe your show, visual and musically.

Eric: We bring high energy and great musicianship to each live show. When applicable we fill the stage with fog and lasers!

15. How do you promote your band and shows?

Eric: We promote on Instagram, Facebook, Vine and Twitter.

16. Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

Eric: We are currently booking a Fall tour up the West Coast. You should come because we rock!

17. What advice would you give to fellow bands?

Eric: I would say, find what you do well musically and don't give up on it. And make sure being a band always stays fun!

18. What plans do you have for the near future as a band?

Eric: We plan to tour this fall.

19. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
