Station's Chris Lane Talks the Wired EP and Other Rockin Things!

STATION is one of the hottest new bands to come out of New York City. A high voltage stage show with electrifying melodies make STATION an unforgettable experience. With that they went on to release their EP "Wired" and have got shows and even more material in-store because these guys are ready to rock! Guitarist Chris Lane talks of this EP and so much more it's totally a rockin good time.

1. Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Station, and how long the band has been together.

Chris: This is Chris from STATION, I play guitar. The band has been performing since April of 2011.

2. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Chris: We are based in New York City. New York is a very diverse place. It's common to go to a music venue and hear many different types of music. For instance, we once took the stage right after a barber shop quartet haha

3. What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?

Chris: We talk about the things that affect us in our lives. There isn't an overall message we are trying to get across, it's more about expressing ourselves.

4. What bands have influenced your band and its sound?

Chris: I'd say we are most influenced by bands like Van Halen, Judas Priest and Whitesnake. We draw a lot of influence from classic rock.

5. How did you guys come up with your band name?

Chris: Our name comes from one of our favorite movies! We were watching it and had a "eureka" moment. From that moment on, we have been STATION. Can you guess the movie?

6. So tell me about the EP Wired.

Chris: Wired is our first EP. We were lucky enough to record it with a hero of ours, Michael Wagener. We went down to Nashville for a few weeks and recorded the whole thing. It was really tough to pick a track listing for this because we have a lot of music, but we chose the songs we thought would be a good taste of our music. Being in the studio and hearing your music really come to life is an amazing feeling.

7. Is there any story or concept behind the Wired title?

Chris: The name of Michael's studio is "Wire World," so we thought "Wired" fit nicely

8. Who produced Wired and what was it like working with them?

Chris: Michael Wagener produced "Wired." He's worked with bands like Metallica, Motley Cure, Ozzy, Poison, Alice Cooper, Skid Row and on and on and on. He's sold something like 95 million albums, so the man knows what he's doing. He is great to work with. Besides being one of the most talented people we know, he's also one of the nicest. Michael has been a big supporter of STATION and we thank him for that.

9. Who did the cover art for Wired and how much input did you have on it?

Chris: All of the artwork was done by our bassist, Mike Anderson. In addition to being a great bass player, Mike has the eye for graphic design.

10. Select two songs from Wired and what inspired the lyrics.

Chris: The first track, "Everything," is about a girl I knew in college. It talks about how we never got together although there something there.

The third track, "I'd Understand," is about not being able to be in a relationship because your life simply doesn't allow it. It's very hard when pursuing your dream is a 24/7 job, it makes a lot of things in life that should be relatively simple much more complicated.

11. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Chris: You can find our music on iTunes and Bandcamp

12. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Chris: The best feeling is when someone hears one of our songs for the first time and can sing it back to us. We love that.

13. What can the fans expect to see from you in the future?

Chris: We'll be playing at Rocklahoma this week with bands like Guns N' Roses and Alice in Chains. From there, we'll be playing all around the country, so we're hoping to come to a city near you!

14. What are your upcoming touring and show plans?

Chris: We have some great shows on Long Island, New York City and Connecticut coming up after Rocklahoma.

June 15th - The Room in Brookfield, CT
June 21st - Lulu's Village Pub in Port Jefferson, New York
June 29th - Arlene's Grocery in New York, NY

15. Any final words of wisdom?

Chris: Wanted to thank you for letting us take part in this interview. We really appreciate the support! Please like us on FB at to follow the band as we perform and record
