Stays In Vegas Talks of Themselves and Music!

Alternative hard rockers Stays In Vegas had began way back when in the 90's as a cover band then just a couple of years ago, they would go on to write and record original music. During which time, they managed to release two full-length albums with a third out this year come the fall! The band goes on to talk about themselves, and how they came to be and what we can expect to see from them.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Well Stays In Vegas has been a band since 2011, when we started as a 90’s to now Alternative Rock cover band. Then in 2014 we switched to originals only with the release of our first album Faces for the Moment. 2017 saw us release our second album Revelations which had a couple singles like Let It Roll, Sanity and Set The Cider Aside start getting significant play on internet stations all over and then we started touring regionally to support it. We are now in the studio working on our third album Kings of Queens and looking forward to touring to support it. The current lineup includes founder Christopher Fulmer – Guitar/Vocals, Blake Copeland – Bass/Backing Vocals and Glen Powell – Drums.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name was just a place holder name till we could come up with something better. Was watching The Hangover one night and thought Stays In Vegas sounded cool and we went with it. Turned out everyone liked the name so we kept it.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Stays In Vegas is based out of Little Rock, AR. We have a tremendous music scene here with a lot of amazing hard rock, metal, alternative and Indie/folk bands. Unfortunately the music venues are slowly dwindling here so the music scene itself is very closed cause with very few venues, only a handful of bands get the opportunity to play live, so some amazing bands are getting passed over by venues to allow the more popular, but mediocre bands play. Some of our buddy bands here in the area that are killer include Hell Camino, Eddie and the Definaz, Red Devil Lies, Elements, DeFrance, Jamie Lou and the Hullabaloo, Becoming Elephants, Cons of Formant…I can go on for days haha

4. How would you describe your style?

We are a mix of hard rock, grunge, punk and alternative. Best way to describe us is if you mixed Nirvana and Tool, then throw in some Helmet and Ramones, add some Queensryche and Goo Goo Dolls…you might get some Stays In Vegas haha.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We've released two studio albums, and one single from our upcoming third album. The first album Faces for the Moment is a 10 song LP that has a mix of gritty rock, grunge and alternative acoustic songs. It was really an experimental album coming from being a cover band, it mixed some of the bands songs with some of Christopher’s solo work into an album that created the new original based Stays In Vegas. The second album, Revelations, is a 15 song LP that was recorded in the middle of a band reorganization and lineup change. It started with the original lineup of the band and was completed nearly 1.5 years later with the current lineup. So you can hear a progression of sound from Set The Cider Aside and Not My Fight from the beginning of recording to the finished song with the current lineup like Let It Roll, Cranial and Sanity. A harder, rock based sound with the current lineup. Our new single, Lower I Go, was released in May and is off our upcoming third album Kings of Queens. It's a great example of the sound progression of the band from the begging to now and how the current band members bring a great energy and musicianship to songwriting.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes our new album Kings of Queens is almost complete. It will be a 5-6 song EP and should be out this fall. The first single, Lower I Go, was released in May. Our new lyric video for Lower I Go will be released soon as well.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are currently booking regional shows in the mid-south to support our new single and will start booking regional and national dates for this fall to support the new album.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

World domination!!! Haha. The future of the band is to keep working on our live shows, making them interactive and fun and high energy, writing new songs and progressing our sound, getting our music to more listeners and building our fan base.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

A great place to hear our music is on our website www.staysinvegasofficial.com and on our Facebook page as well as Spotify, Pandora, Soundcloud and then download our albums and songs on iTunes, Amazon Music, CDBaby…everywhere. And we are in rotation on Alternative Underground, Rock on The Rise Radio, Banks Radio Australia, Rock Rage Radio and other stations in Canada, UK and the US.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Hmm, that's a good one. I would say to listen to a few of our songs to really see the diversity of the band and our music. We have songs that can relate to all types of listeners and genres, so if a hard rock, metal song is your style, we have a few of them. If you're more grunge and punk, we got songs that will fit you. If you like gritty rock or acoustic ballads…got a few of those as well. We are music fans just like everyone else, and think that music should fit all emotions and mind states. So our songs and style give listeners a mix of styles to choose from. Our live shows do the same as well. Always a surprise as to what we will play, or what we might even say on stage…always a good time.
