Forgotten Tears says In Spite Of Everything, We Don't Deserve Anything!

Forgotten Tears formed a while ago, and have been promoting their latest album "In Spite Of Everything" as much as possible. So much so in fact, that they went on to release, a single turned video for "I Don't Deserve Anything". This all leading to them going on to write up all new material for the next release, with further plans to play shows, and tour too! They took to time, to discuss this song, video, the album, and future plans as well.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

FT was born in 2007 from some friends who shared the same musical tastes and wanted to have fun together, but we took our passion very seriously since day one. We went thru hard times and some line up changes but we never lost our path.

We had the opportunity to tour with great bands like Fear Factory and we shared the stage with many bands we love, we released two full lengths, we have many videos on YouTube…not to bad for a metal band from Italy, isn’t it?

Nowadays our lineup is formed by Faust on vocals, Andrea on bass guitar, Matteo and Nikolay on guitars and Alessandro on drums. We all come from different realities but we share the same goals, that’s the most important thing!

2. What's the origin of the band’s name?

What if I tell you that our name was born like a joke? We had a show incoming, we didn't have a
name yet…and a friend of us suggested "Why don't you use FORGOTTEN TEARS?" and we all
liked this…but in our mind this should have been a temporary name! In the end we get used to it
and without even thinking about it we never changed it.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any
local bands you could recommend?

We come from Milan, in the north of Italy. The Italian metal scene is pretty solid now, there are a lot of cool bands you should check out! Just to name a few.. Destrage, Despite Exile, Lies of Nazca, Wrong Way To Die, Fall of Minerva, Noise Trail Immersion…we have definitely closed the gap with the rest of the world. The only real problem of our musical scene is that metal is not very popular in our country, so it’s not that easy to play live consistently. In the end we are used to this situation so we all try to make it work, there are some little agencies that are doing real miracles if you consider the shortage of live clubs we live in!

4. How would you describe your style?

This is not an easy question…I think METAL sums it up nicely in the end, but it’s a little bit more
complicated than that ahaha! When we started the band we were heavily influenced by the
Swedish sound (In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork) and we loved a lot of hardcore bands so
the so called New Wave of American Heavy Metal really turned us on! Our first record reflects
this kind of influence. Growing up and changing band members we developed new ideas and
we tried to focus more on the groove of the songs and on melodies, so we worked hard to integrate these two aspects into our songwriting. We are not interested on repeating the same formula on and on, we love to move our boundaries!

5. What can be said about your latest album“In Spite Of Everything” and why should
people go check it out?

In Spite Of Everything speaks about never giving up. It’s not a concept album, but the lyrics follow a common path. We talk about self empowerment and coping with your life, no matter what’s offered to you. From an instrumental point of view this record is really groovy so I think you can find two separate layers…you can listen to it when you want to bang your head while you’re driving with the volume of your car stereo fully cranked…or you can focus on the lyrics and try to relate to what we are talking about.

6. Why did you want "I Don't Deserve Anything" to be a single turned video off “In Spite Of Everything”? This is the fourth single off this album, will there be anymore is is this it, for “In Spite Of Everything”?

We have chosen “I Don’t Deserve Anything” to be a single because it’s probably our favorite
song off the last record. This track really sums up the most iconic elements of our style, don’t
you think? A super heavy mood, groovy parts and heavy riffing, nice melodies…everything we
wanted to include in “In Spite Of Everything” is in this song, and it’s so good to play it live…we
just had to make a single out of it! Probably we will release a last single off “In Spite Of Everything” in the next months but as I told you before we are writing new stuff so who knows…maybe we’ll directly move to the next record, follow us and you’ll know!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Playing shows is the funniest part of being in a band so yes, we always try to plan as many shows as we can. We have just announced our first UK tour and we are really excited to play there. You know, when it comes to metal everything started in UK back in the 70’s with Black Sabbath and the NWOBHM in the 80’s…even nowadays there are so many great bands coming from UK, just think about Architects, While She Sleeps, Sylosis, even Asking Alexandria if you like that kind of stuff! Apart from the UK tour, we’ve been in Mexico 2 years ago and we would love to go back, maybe even for a US tour! We would love to tour mainland Europe again too.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Play shows, and play shows and maybe even play shows!
Kidding, we are writing the new record and we are pretty excited about that, we changed two elements in our lineup and they are bringing new ideas, so we are trying to capture the heat of the moment ahahah!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Oh you can find us pretty everywhere. We are on streaming on Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, you name one and we’re in! You can buy our records on every digital store, and if you want the physical copy or some merchandise you can buy it on our webstore, at www.forgottentears.net.

10. What is it you'd like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Nice question! To me, the most important thing is that our listeners have a good time listening to
our music. Once we received an email from a fan, he told us that our music helped her to overcome a bad situation, she was being bullied and found strength in our songs…this is the greatest thing you can accomplish i think. Some songs we wrote in our bedrooms helped someone we probably will never meet who lives in another continent. This is mind-blowing and we will always be grateful for this! PMA!
