MONO ANNOUNCE U.S. TOUR

MONO’s behemoth world tours have become a sort of calling card for the experimental rock quartet; as one of the most internationally successful bands in Japan, MONO’s annual world tour consists of around 150 shows and has stormed through over 55 countries. This April, MONO will be kicking off its divvy of North American dates alongside Holy Sons, Kikagaku Moyo & more. A full schedule can be found below, which include a two-date tour kickoff supporting SLEEP.

Fresh off a sold out show at Daikanyama UNIT in Tokyo, and an appearance at Hostess Club Weekender as the first Japanese band ever in the history of the festival, MONO is ramping up for a banner year in support of their 2016 LP Requiem For Hell. Recorded with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago, Requiem For Hell is a cinematic retelling of Dante’s The Divine Comedy, complete with sinister crescendos, slow burning strings, and squalling guitar interludes.

MONO have been churning out dirges pulling from shoegaze, noise, and rock since their inception in 1999. After releasing 10 successful albums, including a live album with New York orchestra, MONO received the highly regarded award “The Marshall Hawkins Awards: Best Musical Score - Featurette” from the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema for their collaborative short film “Where We Begin” in 2015. Called “music for the Gods” by NME, it’s no surprise that MONO have become on of the most monumental rock acts in Japan—and the world.
