Indie rock duo Astra the 22's, have got a new song turned single for "Creature" off their forthcoming EP "Paris Love". The duo took the time to discuss said single, EP and their future.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
We lived.. we died.. and now we come alive to rock.
2. What ís the origin of the band's name?
The name comes from staring into a crystal ball and seeing the same star and number 22, 22 times...
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
Band originated in Riga , Latvia and Brooklyn, NYC. There are great bands and music lovers all over the world.. I hope to meet them on tour!
4. How would you describe your style?
Deadly, Eccentric, Beautiful.
5. What can you tell me about your track "Creature"?
"Creature'' well, we were high on caffeine, nicotine and whiskey and listening to The Kills, Blondie and G’n’R. After talking bullshit about NYC narcissism, materialism & vanity, we wrote "Creature".
6. Does this track come off your EP Paris Love"? When will that be released and why should people check it out?
It’ll be out on April 28th:
Paris Love speaks of the supreme and boundless power of love, and that it is able to live, transcend and thrive even in times of hopelessness, apocalyptic circumstance, distance, war, politics, terror or bureaucracy. In times of dire circumstance or in a chaotic situation beyond control those who share true love will find romance.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Yes, we play a lot in New York City and Brooklyn, but we will tour this summer.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
To rock!
