Goregrinders Haemorrhage have given us the rundown on their historic past, present, and future. Guitarist Luisma Xysma discusses these issues and what they have planned as far as new music and the future ahead.
1. Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Haemorrhage, and how long the band has been together.
Luisma: Hi, I'm Luisma Xysma and I am the guitar player and backing vocalist in this forsaken squad. We have been together since 1990.
2. Tell us the brief history of your band.
Luisma: We were two kids from a shitty suburb in Madrid, Spain. It was so boring that we decided to form a band like the bands we loved. Things turned out better than expected and we recorded six albums and a lot of EPs etc. We also played in a lot of countries around the world.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there?Are there any local bands you could recommend?
Luisma: We are from Madrid area and to be honest we haven't got a huge scene. We are mainly the same guys that started this years before...yes there are many good bands...I recommend you all bands from here there's just too many to name.
4. What type of band are you?
Luisma: We are a Goregrind band and we are loyal to the Goregrind laws. Thus we have no laws.
5. Why did you want to name the band Haemorrhage? What does it symbolize and represent for the band?
Luisma: I love all the bands with only one word in their name. When we started we liked all the bands with names like Death, Blood, Dead, Cadaver, Autopsy, fuck all the best names were already taken. So we looked for something bloodier and found Haemorrhage. It's great cause many people don't know what it means.
6. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
Luisma: Musical: Impetigo, Carcass, Necrony, Xysma, Carnage, Repulsion, Nihilist, Manowar, Misfits, Amebix, Kiss, Sore Throat, Doom, Judas Priest, Discharge, Cathedral, Venom, Filthy Christians, Macabre, Eskorbuto, Johnny Cash, Los Chichos and 1,000,0000 more.
Non-Musical: Jorg Butgereit, Lucio Fulci, Dr. Beltran, Ze do Caixao, Andres Iniesta, Esperanza Aguirre.
7. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
Luisma: Our lyrics always deal with the sickest side of life...like Death, Pathology, Sickness...but from a funny point of view.
8. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)
Luisma: Yes, I am the main composer along with Ana the other guitar player. We write riffs at home and then record our own demos. When we have some stuff we show it to the rest of the band.
9. What's new in the recording of your music?
Luisma: We have some new songs ready to go and wanted to record them at home. We don't know how well they will sound but if there good enough we will record our new album in the same way.
