Stinkbrute Talks of this Project and All That Was Put Into It!

Heavy go getter's STINKBRUTE got their start at the end of 2020, working upon some works, including a single, with more newer music in the works as well. The main man behind it all, just wants to tour and play shows hopefully after finding members to do just that. This one man act goes into talks about how this all got it's start.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

So, the band started at the end of 2020 as a bit of a joke, I composed and recorded the first half of the album as an EP. At the time my idea was to write the most gruesome Death Metal/Grindcore I could with the most ridiculous name I came up with in the moment and it was "Stinkbrute, The Gruesome Exchange of Bodily Fluids That Turned Into a Bile Duct Titan", later I decided to stick with just "Stinkbrute" and the rest for the name of the first album. For the lineup, at the moment it's just me, Bernardo Rebelo, I am the drummer and backing vocalist for the band "Crimson Bridge", we're a kind of Melodic Death Metal mixed with 2000's Metalcore and Prog. I also have my Experimental Black Metal project that started in 2016 where I play all the instruments and I'm in Midrift Guillotine, an UK anti-tory band, as one of the vocalists, that band is Grindcore with some Cyber-Grind in the mix.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name "Stinkbrute" as I mentioned before was part of the original name I had for the project, but with all my ideas coming together there was another big reason I wanted this name and it has to do with how little we think of animals, in specific farmed animals. When I think of Stink-Brute all I can imagine is a pig or a cow in horrible condition, dirty all around, with anger towards humans, and after we put them in those conditions we have the audacity to call them dirty, disgusting or stinky.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based in Almada, Portugal, more specifically Trafaria. Supposedly Almada was known to have a big metal scene in the past but nowadays I can think of great bands like Enblood, Theriomorphic and of course Analepsy, they are from Lisbon but they are a huge influence on my Slam and Death Metal styles of playing. There are also Grindcore bands in Lisbon like Serrabulho, Grog and Grunt. Serrabulho is also a big influence for the more comedic side of my music, which will be apparent when the album comes out and in releases after that.

4. How would you describe your style?

As mentioned before I was trying to create something heavy and disgusting so it happened to be a mix between Death Metal and Grindcore but since I like all styles of music, an influence of Mathcore or even Prog is apparent at times. In general I would describe my sound as, in your face Slamming Grinding Death Metal.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

The first release was the single "Cow Molesters", with it, the music video for that was released, which has depictions of the dairy industry taken from various documentaries. Stylistically it sums up pretty well how the album will sound, I also released "Grinders Dream", "Into the Acid They Went" and "Pigs Wear Ties, Humans Wear Murder", which fall in the same ball park as each other, having that "Stinkbrute" mix of heavy genres. The album sounds just like the singles but in an Full Length format in which the songs flow seamlessly.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

I have a lot of new music in the works, including another Full Length and various Splits that are yet to be announced. I would say that "Stinkbrute" will only become more unique whilst still maintaining all the heaviness and craziness from the first Album but in some ways cranking that up to eleven.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

I really want to tour and play shows, I just have to find the members to do that, since I would be the vocalist I still need to find a whole band before gigging.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

For the future I'm planning on releasing more music, videoclips and hopefully getting people to join me on concerts.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to "Stinkbrute" on all major streaming platforms as well as Bandcamp. You can support me through Bandcamp or my online merch store on tee spring.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

After listening to one of my songs there is a lot I would like the listener to remember. Be it the auditive slap in the face some songs provide, the emotional carriage of some of the themes or the comedic value of some elements I manage to throw in.
