Pånnivågn Says They Want to GO BIG!

Rock n' roller's Pånnivågn have been around for sometime now, releasing their debut album, then sophomore album after that, which led to single's and all new music expected out this fall! The band says they want to GO BIG!

Answers from lead singer Håvard Haugan:

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Pånnivågn was founded in 2003 in Follafoss, Steinkjer. The band members were childhood friends with a common interest in rock music.

I became a member of the band in 2005, resulting in the first album “Sle dæ beinntj ned” released in 2006. Today the band has six members: Me (lead singer), Alexander Rødøy Bakken (lead guitar), Ola Årbogen (guitar), Håkon Haugnes Haugan (keytar and piano), Kenneth Stallvik (bass) and Per Ivar Bruheim (drums).

In the beginning we were a Nu-Metal band, but over the years we have moved towards the alternative rock scene, with influences from both punk rock, metal and pop music. Pånnivågn in 2022 can be described as stadium rock with sing-along choruses.

After our second album was released in 2012, we decided to take a break. After almost a decade-long hiatus, we made a comeback last summer, and now we are going for the big stages ;-)

 2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

We really don’t remember, but I think it was because one of the band members read about “diligence (vehicle)” in a dictionary before our first concert in 2003, and the word was described as something like “pony wagon” – “Pånnivågn” in Norwegian. At that time, we didn’t have a name, so our lead singer at the time just said “Hello we are Pånnivågn” when the band entered the stage for the very first time. After that we became Pånnivågn.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based in the middle of Norway in the cities of Trondheim and Steinkjer. We’ve got a great music scene here, with famous and big bands such as Motorpsycho and Bokassa. One up-and-coming band I like to recommend is Prospect from Verdal! They are playing great rock and roll! Check them out!

 4. How would you describe your style?

Huge, no-excuses, larger-than-life friggin' rock 'n roll, with Norwegian lyrics.

 5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

In 2006 we released the debut album “Sle dæ beinntj ned” and in 2012 we released our second album “Mellom alt og ingenting” with the hit single “Duett”. In 2021 we released the split single “Dødsforakt // Jærv”, and last week we released the EP “Dansen” (“The Dance” in English). In this EP we have lyrics about the war in Ukraine, mental health, working class heroes and our little tribute to the phenomenon Justin Bieber. ;-) If you have never heard our music before you can expect melodic and groovy hard rock, with great riffs, massive guitars and lyrics in Norwegian.

 6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes! In September/October we will release our third album, and we are looking forward to that!

 7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

This summer we will do several rock festivals in Norway. After we have released our third album we will go on a big Norwegian Tour.

 8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

 Go big!

 9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Listen to our music at Spotify, iTunes, YouTube and other streaming services. And on our website www.pannivagn.no you can buy some merch.

 10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I hope they like our groovy hard rock with great riffs and massive guitars!
