Final Transmission Talks of Summer Plans, New Album, and the Momentum to Do This!

Modernized post hardcore rockers FINAL TRANSMISSION have not one but two full-length albums to their namesake, single's, as well as currently in the working progress of what will be their third full-length album to date! A summer show is set, with more plans for further shows towards the end of the year, releasing more music, and doing much more fun stuff! The band talks of all of this below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band formed in late 2014 but was largely inactive in this time due to creative differences and other personal issues within the dynamic. Final Transmission really found its identity in 2018. That was when we began working with our current vocalist, Adam, who brought a fresh energy and a unique style that helped define our sound moving forward. Initially, we didn’t plan to include screamed vocals, but as we started writing together, it became clear that his range—from clean to aggressive—was something special, and it naturally evolved into our songwriting.

The first EP with Adam was released in 2018, and it marked a turning point. Gig opportunities increased, largely because of our stronger ties to the local scene and the growing clarity in our sound. Around early February 2020 , as we were preparing to record our first full-length album, our original drummer, Tom Wales, decided to step away. His musical direction had changed, and it was a respectful parting.
With studio time just weeks away, we reached out to our long-time friend Tom McCallister to fill in on drums. Despite having only three weeks to prepare, the chemistry was undeniable. We decided to shorten the project to an EP to accommodate the timeline, and soon after, Tom McCallister officially joined the band as our permanent drummer. His style added a new dynamic to the group, complementing the rest of us: Connor Wooler (lead guitar), Aidan Wooler (bass), and Jordan Cameron (rhythm guitar).

Then the pandemic hit. Like many bands, we shifted focus to writing, using the downtime to craft what would become our debut album. Chrysalis was released in October 2021 and received an overwhelmingly positive response—radio play, glowing reviews, and over 18,000 streams for our single “Smokescreen,” which remains one of our most popular tracks. That success helped us book bigger gigs and reach new audiences.

In October 2022, we had the opportunity to open the London date of the European tour for RED and Keith Wallen. It was a sold-out show and a huge moment for us, putting Final Transmission on the map in a much bigger way. From there, we continued to grow, both musically and as a band. We wanted to challenge ourselves creatively on our second album, and that led to Catharsis, released in November 2023. This record incorporated strings, piano, layered vocal harmonies, and a much heavier, more refined sound. The first single, “Clarity,” gained 5,000+ streams on Spotify and opened the door to headline shows and a strong following across East Anglia. Throughout 2024, we focused on live performances, merch, and building momentum. We’ve stayed committed to pushing ourselves forward.

We’re currently experimenting more than ever before—exploring new tuning's, adding more layers, and incorporating fresh effects to expand our evolving sound. Now in 2025, Final Transmission continues to build momentum with three new singles already released this year. The hard-hitting Fractured Future kicked off the year with glowing reviews and increased national airplay. The follow-up, Diamond Eyes—our heaviest track to date—has been igniting mosh pits and headbanging crowds wherever it’s performed. Our latest release, Ambivalence, brings an electrifying energy that instantly commands the room and leaves audiences wanting more.

Final Transmission is currently:

    • Connor Wooler – Lead Guitar
    • Aidan Wooler – Bass
    • Jordan Cameron – Rhythm Guitar
    • Tom McCallister – Drums
    • Adam Telford - Dinsmore  – Vocals

We’re proud of our journey, and we’re only just getting started.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name Final Transmission was originally chosen to symbolize what was hoped to be the band’s final, stable lineup after many changes. However, true stability didn’t come until 2018 with the arrival of Adam as vocalist and the later addition of Tom McCallister on drums. Over time, the name has come to represent much more—standing for the perseverance, growth, and overcoming of numerous challenges that have shaped the band’s journey.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re based out of Suffolk, and the local music scene here is absolutely thriving. The Hunter Club is our main venue and a real hub for live music, alongside other fantastic spots like The Bunker and The Apex. What makes the scene special is the support system—promoters like Washing Machine work hard to give new and emerging bands a chance to get on stage, whether it’s their first gig or a step up to a bigger audience. The scene draws people from miles around because it’s always busy, the crowds are enthusiastic, and there’s a real sense of community.

People often describe Suffolk and East Anglia as the “Seattle of the UK” because of the diverse mix of music styles and the tight-knit support network. It’s an inclusive scene where everyone is welcome, and there’s a wealth of industry experience among local musicians and promoters who actively mentor and support up-and-coming bands.

As for local bands we recommend, definitely check out Horse Party, Gaffa Tape Sandy, and Chasing Ophelia—they’re all incredible and really showcase the strength of our scene.

4. How would you describe your style?

Our style has definitely grown and evolved over time. We’re often described as a blend of classic rock, post-hardcore, and modern metal, with some songs incorporating elements of pop punk—like our track 2020. We also draw from alternative metal, and in some cases, you can hear hints of nu metal in our sound. This mix reflects our diverse influences and our willingness to experiment, which keeps our music fresh and dynamic.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far, we’ve released two full-length albums, each with 11 tracks that showcase the evolution of our sound and songwriting. Our debut album, Chrysalis (2021), leaned more towards rock with strong metal influences and marked the beginning of our gradual shift into post-hardcore. It features standout tracks like “Smokescreen,” which received national radio play and positive critical acclaim.

With our second album, Catharsis (2023), we fully embraced a heavier, more layered post-hardcore and modern metal sound, incorporating strings, piano, layered vocal harmonies, and heavier riffs to deliver a richer and more textured experience.

In addition to these albums, we’ve released three new singles in 2025—Fractured Future, Diamond Eyes, and Ambivalence—which continue to push our sound forward with fresh tuning's and more complex production. People can expect to find something they like within our diverse catalogue—whether it’s emotionally driven songs or heavy-hitting headbangers, there’s something for everyone. Our music combines intensity with melody, creating a dynamic experience that resonates with a wide audience.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, we’re currently in the process of tracking our third album. The three singles we’ve released this year—Fractured Future, Diamond Eyes, and Ambivalence—will all be featured on it. We’re about halfway through the recording and have a very clear vision for the release plan, timing, and style we want to achieve. As we’ve mentioned before, we’re experimenting with new sounds and production techniques to further evolve our music. However, in some tracks, we’re also going back to our roots, blending that classic energy with all the knowledge and skills we’ve developed over the last few years—both in terms of production and musicianship. There’s no fixed timeline for the album’s completion yet, as we want to take our time to ensure every song is the best it can be and reflects our growth as a band.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

At the moment, we have one upcoming show scheduled—on July 19th, we’re headlining that Saturday night at the Chelmsford Beer Festival. Recently, we completed our first mini-tour, playing four shows over three weeks to help launch our new releases this year. It was a great experience and really helped us reconnect with fans. Right now, we’re in talks with promoters to book more shows toward the end of the year, so we’re looking forward to hitting the road again and sharing our evolving sound with even more audiences soon.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Our plan for this year is to gig as much as possible, keep up the momentum with our releases, and continue writing and recording our third album. We’re also focusing on doing more interviews and engaging with the media to help bring our music to a broader audience. Additionally, we’re working on creating new merch to give our fans fresh ways to connect with the band. Ultimately, our goal is to keep writing and releasing music that we’re proud of while growing our fanbase and reaching new listeners.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can find our music on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and Tidal. As for merch, we’re currently building our website and working on the best way to distribute items when people order online. Right now, merch is available exclusively at our gigs, but we hope to have online sales up and running by the end of the year!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

What we’d like listeners to remember most when hearing our music for the first time is the feeling and emotion we create and help the listener feel. Whether it’s happiness, sadness, raw energy, or pure hype, we want our music to connect with people on a personal level. Our hope is that the first time someone listens, the songs speak to them in a way they can relate to and remember long after.
