Alternative rockers CRANK! BANG! POW! are always working on new music, releasing songs here and there currently, with more music on the way of release soon! The band has even had the chance to play and in around their area, with them planning on releasing more music, write more, and play more too! The band talks of all of this below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Crack! Bang! Pow! started when Brad decided he wanted to develop and record a backlog of songs he had written over the years while playing in various bands of other styles and earning a degree in music. His buddy, Ryan, from music school was his first choice of drummer.
Once the rehearsals began, Ryan’s drumming style added a lot of texture and drive that then fueled Brad’s naturally sad and angsty approach to songwriting. Over the coming months they forged Crack! Bang! Pow!’s sound and began to record and play live on occasion. Both Brad and Ryan played in other active bands and a steady bass player was yet to be found so the project, while awesome and exciting, sat on simmer while the two stayed active with other gigs and projects. Around the fall of 2022, Ryan’s guitarist from another project, Jason (bass) caught wind of CBP and expressed interest in playing bass for the project.
Once the trio was complete things started to immediately pick up. The group is releasing their first official single, “Hey” (although they have released a few other tracks and were even on a small indie label, Exquisite Noise Records, out of Statesville, NC.) They plan to re-record and re-release all their other music as they now have a better recording situation with a home studio for tracking and a working relationship with Alex Backlund and Fascination Street Studios in Sweden for mixing and mastering. In the meantime they are stoked to be playing live with local friends and sometimes sharing the stage with regional touring acts such as Thunderosa, Pavel Demon and the Revenants, and Columns.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
It represents the knocks life can give you which inspired the music, as well as the sonic qualities of the music.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are based out of Corpus Christi, TX. The scene is a lot of metal and tejano although there is a punk scene. Alternative rock is a smaller representation.
4. How would you describe your style?
Alternative rock. Singer songwriter pieces about angst and depression arranged for a rock trio.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We have demoed 14 tracks and officially released 3 tracks with music videos. We plan on continuing to release our other 11 tracks and/or new ones as they come.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
We always have new music in the works as we love to improvise. In fact we often release clips of our improvisations from rehearsals. A couple of newer songs are close to complete. We like to give them time to make sure we have them the way we want them before we set them in stone.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We play locally at various rock clubs and music venues.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
We plan to keep doing what we are doing, rehearsing, writing, gigging locally etc. We would love an opportunity to tour Europe or the US if the situation fits.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
iTunes, Apple, Spotify, Soundcloud, Youtube, etc. All our recordings are on Soundcloud, music videos on Youtube along with improv clips, and one larger more recent release is available on Spotify, Apple, iTunes, etc.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
We hope that it connects with them personally and stylistically. We want to provide some comfort and inspiration to the listeners, the same way the music makes us feel when we perform it.
