Hatsune Miku Virtual Pop Idol Brings Miku Expo to Los Angeles for a Sold Out Show!

Hatsune Miku is code named as CV01, and is a vocaloid software, which is a voice bank developed by Crypton Future Media, and is their official anthropomorphic mascot character, being a 16 year old girl, with long turquoise twin tails. Hatsune Miku taking shape of a virtual idol. Performing live in virtual concerts on stage, as an animated projection. But over time the projection aspect, used as a coated glass screen, would later change to an LED screen format.

While these new LED screen’s would see a vast improvement to the pop idol, the fans surrounding it would be displeased. They always seeing the idol in a hologram form via the glass screen aspect. Making this change would caused such an uproar that the idol’s most recent concert tour would not go well with fans all over the globe. This concert tour being titled as “Miku Expo”, lasting for several years now, having gone myself in 2016, 2018, and 2024.

Miku Expo has been happening since way back in 2010 until the present day, touring across the globe, making stops in Los Angeles, California of course. It would not only return but be in celebration of it’s 10th anniversary of the Miku Expo itself. The most recent run being this year's 2024 edition, making a stop at the 6K capacity Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California within the surrounding campus that is USC. Fans would line up as early as the morning hours, awaiting to grab some merchandise, until doors opened later that evening around 5:30PM for VIP and 6:30PM for general attendance, the show starting a little after the said start time of 8PM, starting around 8:15PM and ending close to 10PM.

LIVE PHOTOS:

Such songs performed included opener "Miku", "Ten Thousand Stars", "GimmexGimme", "World is Mine", and Unknown Mother-Goose" to name off a few out of close to 25 song setlist, with songs sung by Hatsune Miku and her friends Kagamine Rin, Meiko, Kaito, Megurine Luka, and Kagamine Len.  All of which had their array of songs performed, the crowd really cheering them all on, as each one performed, the crowd switching on and off their light sticks color tone, from green, yellow. blue, and red throughout each performance. But a song content was run before this trek even began, and the song that won was one called “MAGIC ☆ CURE! LOVE ♥ SHOT!” from SAWTOWNE; that was performed and quite colorful, that everyone was enthralled by it.

MORE LIVE PHOTOS:

Only flaw that fans disliked was the merch set up beforehand, a lot of merch running out rather quickly, with other fans enjoying the overall performance despite the LED screen used, the fans of the sold out show, really were into it.  Glow sticks aligned the audience from top to bottom, everyone keeping to the beat of the music, getting into the vocaloid performances, to the band performance themselves, a live band being present the entire time. It was an experience just like the previous years, with an “updated” look and feel for it, that fans could either agree with or disagree with it. I myself, enjoyed it, and would gladly attend it again, again, and again for many more years, because Miku Expo to me, is worth it.
