Scarleth Speaks of No Boredom with Their Music!

Modernized melodic metal act Scarleth, whose time together has been spent for 13 solid years, writing and recording music, along with playing it as well. There is so much more, from this band, there is no avoidance of occurrence. Thus, the band has spoken about themselves, where they are from, the band's namesake, and what the future holds.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band was formed in 2005 by myself (Victor Morozov). First line-up included both of my sisters (Renata - vocals, Nina - keyboards). After that, numerous line-up changes took place until current line-up has finally appeared:

Victor Morozov - guitar
Yana Kovalskaya - keyboards
Ekaterina Kapshuk - vocals
Igor Chumak - bass
Philipp Kharouk - drums

The band was originally formed in Donetsk, Ukraine.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

SCARLET was just a cool simple name which came to my sister's mind :) I only added "h" to the end of the word, so it looks more "metal". We also like this name because it doesn't limit our musical style in any way. We can play anything we want under this title.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Now band's primary location is Kiev, Ukraine. Music scene here is quite strong, I can recommend such bands as Sinoptik, Megamass, Morphine Suffering, Jinjer, Azathoth Circle. The scene itself is really diverse, you can find anything - from light indie-rock to full-blown extreme metal.

4. How would you describe your style?

Melodic metal with female vocals and unparalleled diversity. We like to mix different styles in our songs, it always sounds fresh and exciting.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We've released two full-length albums so far ("Break The Silence" in 2011, "The Silver Lining" in 2015). You can except musical journey through different styles, diverse emotions and anything but boredom. :)

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, we are recording the new single now, and third CD is on it's way. It will expand band's style even further, you can expect some really cool, catchy and heavy tracks on that album.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

This year is primarily planned for recording, we do not have too much time for touring. But we are constantly searching for good offers to play live and tour, so it will happen a bit later.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Our main goal now is to release the new CD, promote it and perform on major open-air festivals in Europe. We still need to grow our fan-base, so please subscribe to our social media, you can find links below this interview.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I think the most intriguing thing about our songs is diversity. You can listen to one track and think that we are folk-metal band. But next track could be doom-oriented, and another one can give you some cool and complex prog-like feeling. We really like to include many elements into our songs.
