Rain In July Talks Creating Music, New Tunes, and Future Plans

Alternative rock band Rain In July have combined such elements as emo, pop, punk, and modern rock to create their own blend of styling. Since then they have their debut "Trying to Breathe", along with their newest song "Beachside", while currently writing all new material for their next release. The band goes on to talk some more about their music and future plans of activity.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We formed in 2016 when all of us were still in high school. We met through our school’s music program and through being some of the only people in our school that were into this alternative music scene. After a while, we all found ourselves in a spot where we were truly ready to dedicate our time to this project, and Rain In July formed!

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The original concept came from the Neck Deep EP of the same name, but it ended up turning into so much more than that. Rain In July as a name to us is the idea of building yourself back up again after a tough time and using it to better yourself. It’s turned into so much more than a name for us.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of Boulder, Colorado and are a PROUD member of the Colorado music scene! I firmly believe that Colorado has one of the most underrated alternative music scenes in the country. These types of questions are difficult, because I want to recommend at least 10 bands, but I’ll cap it at 3. Check out Contender, Tonight We Rise, and 1000 Miles of Fire. We had the amazing opportunity of having all 3 on our last headline show and it made for an amazing night! It’s always great to be in the crowd singing all the words to your friends songs and then getting on stage and seeing the same thing!

4. How would you describe your style?

We are an alternative rock band with elements from Emo, Pop Punk, and Modern Rock. We take influence from a lot of different places, a result of growing up in very different homes listening to vastly different music throughout our lifetimes. We are very proud of the way that our last single sounded, and are truly finding what our “sound” is every day, but we love the way that we are able to take influence from so many different bands and artists!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released our debut EP "Trying to Breathe" and our new (as of 3 weeks ago) song “Beachside”. I think that if someone listens to our music they aren’t going to get the same song twice, but we keep it in the same realm. The lyrics deal with a lot of personal issues and much more.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes! We are currently writing our 2nd record with plans to record in the very near future. I am loving the songs that we’re writing and can’t wait to show everyone what we’re working on!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We currently have a show lined up for October 7th at the Marquis Theater in Denver with Assuming We Survive, Rivals, Riot Child, and Tonight We Rise! We are also working on a ton of other shows for the Fall that we will be unveiling!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

A lot of new music, live shows, and a ton of rocking. We love what we’re doing in Rain In July and are stoked to see it continue into the future!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our social media is @raininjulyco on everything, we are on every streaming service and we are now online at raininjulyco.com!

Also, make sure to check out our new music video for our single "Beachside"! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Omdl0YdDr-Q.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

That it’s real. Every lyric, every instrumental, every melody is us and it’s what we put ourselves into when we create together. Give it a listen for yourself and let us know what you remember!
