Trick Casket Discusses the Span of Time in Regards to their Music!

Industrialists TRICK CASKET have been around for quite sometime, releasing music over that said span of time, two albums, an EP, cover song and assortment of singles. They are also currently working upon an all new release right now! The band discusses themselves, their music, and them eventually wanting to play live!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Trick Casket was started in late 2017. After a number of projects failed to get off the ground, starting a band that I can call my own was a no-brainer. Our first album, ‘Misery’, was all self recorded, and self produced with not a lot of tools at my disposal, but sometimes that's a good thing. We went through a couple lineup changes, but this lineup feels the best in the bands short history. In February 2019, we released “Misery,” an album that encapsulates Connor’s emotional battles, followed by their EP “Anhedonia,” in 2020, and second album “HARM” in 2021. Most recently, in 2025, the band unleashed their new single, “PREY,” produced by Brett Carruthers (The Birthday Massacre, A Primitive Evolution) with more scheduled for the year.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

This is actually a funny story. I went to Casa Loma (its a castle here in Toronto) for their yearly Halloween haunted house attraction. There was a prop casket that was inconspicuously off the beaten path, and an animatronic came out on a spring towards me and some friends, and i dont scare easy, but that got me. Our previous drummer, Ryan, said “wow that was a trick casket!”, and for some reason that saying stuck in my head a year and a half later.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of Toronto, Canada. The music scene here took a devastating blow during, and after, covid. Venues were closing left and right. There’s some new ones popping up, however. Ground Control is a venue that we love dearly, it’s David Bowie themed too! I highly recommend the giants like The Birthday Massacre, and A Primitive Evolution, and also our good friends in Phantom High, Babysfirstpistol, Burnt Knives, OLGA. There’s so many great acts here.

4. How would you describe your style?

What if Trent Reznor & Nivek Ohgr started KoRn?

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released 2 full albums, 1 EP, 1 cover tune, and a plethora of singles on Spotify, iTunes, bandcamp, etc. Anywhere you get your music from! Expect some really disgusting and heavy guitars, with a lot of synthesizers backing them up. Connor shouts a lot too.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Always. Yes. Currently working on the next release.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We’ve been playing tons of shows here and there for a couple years, but this year we wanted to focus on writing and releasing new music! No touring plans as of right now, but I would LOVE to.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

I’d like us to go on the road eventually! I love playing shows, and I love doing this. I hope we can keep making the proper strides, and proper steps to be able to do this for a very long time!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can find us on Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, Youtube Music, basically any streaming site of your choice! You can also purchase our music on Bandcamp! (We really appreciate it! We like to eat!)

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I make music as a release, to let all the bullshit out. I hope our listeners can either headbang, or dance, or just scream their stress and anxiety away, free yourself!
