Livealie's Discussion of Music, Debut Album, and the Plans for the Future!

Metalcore band LIVEALIE have just released their debut album late last year entitled "Living in the Static", which as they say is more than just an album it's a statement. Aside from this album, the band is writing, as they are always are, with new music a slow work in progress. The band goes into detail of discussion about this new album, their music, and what the future holds.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

LIVEALIE came to life in 2017, not so much from a meticulously laid-out plan, but from a moment where everything just aligned. It was about timing—being in the right place, at the right time, with the right mindset. The original lineup brought together vocalist James Harrison, guitarist Andrew Robles, drummer Brandon Lee, and bassist/vocalist Jordan Lee—each with their own background, but all sharing a deep passion for heavy music and a desire to create something honest and powerful.

James, known for his work as the original vocalist of Oceans Ate Alaska, brings a distinct vocal identity that naturally helped shape the band’s emotional and aggressive tone. While his background is a recognizable part of the story, every member of LIVEALIE brings their own depth, drive, and creative force to the table. Andrew’s guitar work blends atmosphere and intricacy, Brandon’s drumming brings relentless energy and precision, and Jordan adds a powerful vocal and rhythmic backbone on bass. Together, the chemistry is raw, focused, and entirely collaborative.

What started as a shared passion quickly became a focused vision—one rooted in raw expression, connection, and a love for storytelling through sound. LIVEALIE is the result of four artists meeting at the right moment and deciding to chase something real.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name LIVEALIE came together almost instinctively for the band. Normally, coming up with a name can be a long and challenging process, but once James brought this one to the table, it just felt right. There’s a certain duality to the name—it reflects the contrast between the person we are and the person we sometimes have to be, the “live a lie” concept, if you will. Whether it’s shaped by our experiences in music or just the complexities of everyday life, the name speaks to that double-sided nature of existence. It’s about finding balance between authenticity and the masks we wear to survive in this world.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

LIVEALIE is based in both New York City and London, which gives us the unique perspective of experiencing two very different music scenes. While I (Jordan) can’t speak to the specifics of the UK scene, New York’s scene is still alive and kicking, though it’s certainly faced its challenges in recent years. The closure of many iconic venues over the last decade has made it harder for bands in genres like ours to find regular places to play. That said, there’s always a silver lining.

For local artists, this shift has pushed many to rethink how they connect with fans and how they build their presence. With fewer venues to perform at, bands have been forced to step outside of their comfort zones and explore new ways of getting their music out there—whether that means expanding to other cities, finding unconventional spaces to perform, or engaging with their audience in fresh ways. It’s tough, but it’s sparked a wave of creativity and innovation within the scene.

4. How would you describe your style?

At the core of it, LIVEALIE is a metalcore band—but our sound doesn’t sit neatly in just one box. We pull from a wide spectrum of influences, and that shows across everything we write. There are elements of alternative metal, post-hardcore, progressive metal, death metal, and even pop punk woven into our songs. Each member brings their own unique background and style, which creates a dynamic, genre-bending energy that doesn’t chase trends—it just reflects who we are as artists.

Our goal has always been to make music that feels honest. Sometimes that honesty comes out as something brutal and chaotic, and other times it's melodic, emotional, and vulnerable. We don’t aim to be just one thing—we’d rather be the band that evolves, takes risks, and leans into whatever the music is asking for at that moment.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

In December, we released our debut body of work titled Living in the Static—an 11-song collection that marks the official beginning of LIVEALIE. It's more than just an album to us; it's a statement. Each track was crafted to represent a different emotional thread, with the whole record exploring themes of grief, identity, disconnection, and transformation.

To bring the project to life visually, we created an 8-part music video series, pairing the songs with striking cinematic elements that deepen the storytelling. It’s intense, personal, and immersive—meant to pull you into the headspace we were in when writing it. If you’re new to the band, Living in the Static is the best place to start—it’s the sound of us finding our voice, and refusing to hold anything back.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We’re always writing, always exploring. There are definitely ideas in motion and a lot of creative energy building behind the scenes. Whether it’s something heavy, something more melodic, or something entirely new, we’re letting the music guide where we go next. No solid timeline right now—but just know, we’re not done.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We get asked this a lot—“When are you playing live? When’s the tour?” And honestly, it’s something we think about all the time. LIVEALIE hasn’t played a show yet, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t thinking a few steps ahead. The live element is important to us, and when it happens, we want it to mean something.
Maybe we’re closer to it than people think… or maybe not. For now, all we can say is: stay tuned.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Our plans for the future are simple: keep building, keep creating, and keep connecting. We want to continue spreading the word about LIVEALIE and reaching new listeners. Whether it’s through our music, our visuals, or the energy we bring, we’re focused on making something real that people can connect to. At the end of the day, it’s about making music that we love and that speaks to who we are as a band. The journey is just as important as the destination, and we’re excited to see where it takes us.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our music is available worldwide on every major streaming platform, big and small, with a huge thanks to our team at SPARTA Distribution for making it happen. Whether you’re into Spotify, Apple Music, or whatever your platform of choice is, you can find us there. And if you’re looking for music, merch, or anything else, just head over to our website at livealiecult.com—we’ve got everything you need in one place.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

When people hear our music for the first time, we want them to know it’s us. We want to stand out in any room, with a sound that’s unmistakably LIVEALIE. Whether it’s the emotion, the intensity, or the blend of influences we bring (and, let’s be real, James' English accent that sneaks in), we aim to leave an impression that sticks with you long after the music stops.
