Avatar Brings the Darkness into the Springtime with Tour with Special Guests, Laughs, and Fun!
Theatrical heavy metal go getters Avtar had announced this past New Year that they would be heading out on a spring headlining tour, in support of their latest album "Don't Go in the Forest", as they had done a headlining run just last fall. This time they would bring Fleshgod Apocalypse and Frozen Soul, making a stop in Los Angeles, California on Downtown LA at The Novo.
That Friday night would be a packed crowd upstairs and downstairs, lots of fans dressed up as the famous Avatar singer, sporting his either leather attire or circus themed attire with red jacket and hat, with others wearing casual wear band t-shirts, shorts, pants, jeans, etc. Upon arriving exactly around 7:30PM, the opening band Frozen Soul out of Texas, would play for the next thirty minutes, bringing on a special guest Gerald Way of My Chemical Romance, for their collaborated track "No Place of Warmth", which was quite the surprise! The entirety of their set was quite entertaining, their frontman being goofy yet highly entertaining, interacting with the audience from start to finish. The crowd kept the energy flowing with lots of crowd surfing, moshing, and freebies, as whoever crowd surfed would get a free t-shirt! It was quite a performance that was fun, with just the right amount of death metal to please all.

Next up was Italians Fleshgod Apocalypse, whom I had not seen since 2011! Since then, the band's line up has changed up quite a bit, prior being an all-male act, as opposed to nowadays being an all-male act with an added female as backing and main vocalist, alongside guitarist/vocalist Francesco Paoli. Female vocalist Veronica Bordacchini, would be the welcomed addition, as she brought an operatic style to the mix, creating a more theatrical element to the band's symphonic death metal style. It was intense yet playful, as the pianist and drummer, would entertain the crowd, clapping, throwing their hands up and down getting that hyped up energy overflowing it made everyone enthusiastic. They had a solid set, with classical arrangements with mellow moments that kept it in check, making it mellow dramatic but not that dramatic.

Last up would be Avatar from Sweden, their heavy metal, hard rock style, being quite brutalizing with intensity unlike any other within a lot of their tracks, ranging from "Colossus", "Smells Like a Freakshow", and "Hail the Apocalypse", among other more tame tracks like "Don't Go in the Forest", "Torn Apart" and "Howling at the Waves". The extensive set consisted close to twenty songs total, rounding off to 17. The whole performance brought crazy antics from loads of theatrics, costumes, facial expressions, and lots of goofy madness that made the audience roar with laughter and excitement. The singer is always goofing off, making faces, dancing, singing greatly, with such fun it made the whole night such fun. If you have not seen Avatar yet, then go do so.

This run of a tour brought such fun, that cannot be said enough, lots of laughs with so much fun at hand, it made the music that more memorable and so much more enjoyable in the end.

FROZEN SOUL Announce New Album, Share "No Place of Warmth (Feat. Gerard Way)" Single / Video
Dallas’ beloved death metal / hardcore unit Frozen Soul announce No Place of Warmth - a monolithic, majestic and exigent collection of anthems built on the perfect blend of ferocity and subtle melody, allowing soaring guitar leads to guide a lantern through the dark chasm of merciless riffs. Across their third full-length studio album, Frozen Soul tells tales of the dark territories that come with dealing with the everyday struggle. It surveys the wasteland in the wake of their triumph and is an open letter to fans that decries the cold realities of life yet gives them the tools and the motivation to conquer on their own.
Album opener and title track “No Place of Warmth” features Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance) is “about life at its coldest and the choice you have to let it consume you, or to use it to find warmth in a world that feels void of it. Life is always coming at you, and death doesn’t stop—you might slow it down, but it’s always coming—so you have to make the best out of it and march on” reveals Frozen Soul vocalist Chad Green.
Green collaborated with director Brendan McGowen to bring the concept of “No Place of Warmth” to life visually. Actor London Smith from Frozen Soul’s 2023 “Morbid Effigy” returns, this time to play Death. “The lead character attempts to keep her dagger with rosary beads away from Death, as a stand to say we won’t be afraid of what’s coming and we will live happy with the memories and experiences of our time here,” Green explains.
Of the collaboration he adds, “We met Gerard a couple of years ago and have become friends. I knew he had a love for metal, so I spun the idea to him about singing in a Frozen Soul song and he was stoked! Gerard is an amazing artist and musician whose creative vision has shaped generations and more to come.”
“No Place of Warmth (Feat. Gerard Way)” is available today across all digital platforms and is the follow up to Frozen Soul’s 53 second anti-authoritarianism anthem “Absolute Zero” which was released earlier this month. No Place of Warmth sees its release May 8 via Century Media.

My Chemical Romance Are NOT Getting Back Together
My Chemical Romance made a buzz when posting a video with music to "Welcome to the Black Parade" in it, indicating a date of this fall, September 23rd 2016. What did it mean though, was the band getting back together, doing a tour, show, what? Well as it turns out, the band will not be getting back together, or doing any type of shows or tours. They are just re-releasing "The Black Parade" with unreleased material. Find out further details right HERE.
My Chemical Romance Posts Mysterious Video
My Chemical Romance just posted a mysteries video on the band's Facebook page, as well as updated logo's indicating "MCR" with an added "X". If you have seen the video, its a teaser clip with the new MCR logo with a cross, with background music, of "Welcome To The Black Parade" playing. That indicating that perhaps, just perhaps a 10 year anniversary of some sort, maybe even a tour is in the works? The band decided to call it quits, going on a hiatus since 2013, pursuing other projects since. Only time will tell, once the real announcement is made September 23rd 2016.
GERARD WAY ANNOUNCES FIRST SOLO U.S. TOUR
Fresh off his weekend performances at the Reading and Leeds festivals in England, former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has announced that he will hit the road for a string of U.S. tour dates in October performing songs from his upcoming solo debut album, Hesitant Alien, which will be released on September 30th by Warner Bros. Records. Way will also perform four shows in Australia for the Soundwave Festival in February 2015.

GERARD WAY TO RELEASE DEBUT SOLO ALBUM
Former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way will release his debut solo album, entitled Hesitant Alien, on September 30th via Warner Bros. Records. The new album will be available for pre-order at all digital retailers beginning Tuesday, August 19th. Exclusive album bundles will also be available for pre-order on GerardWay.com on the same date. Fans who pre-order the album will receive the track "No Shows" instantly as a free download. The music video for "No Shows" will also be released on August 19th. Working with producer Doug McKean, Way knew immediately what he wanted Hesitant Alien to sound like. "I wanted to make the small things sound big," he says. "My intention was to make 100 percent uncompromised art, using the currently least radio-friendly instrument, the guitar. I knew there would be lots of fuzz pedals. I knew I would play Fender instruments. I knew I would look at who my guitar heroes were in art school, Mary Timony and Carrie Brownstein, and I drew a lot of influence from shoe-gaze and Britpop. I want the record to sonically galvanize people." Hesitant Alien was mixed by Tchad Blake (Arctic Monkeys, Black Keys).
Lyrically, Way wrote about what he knew at the time, "which was struggle, beginnings, finding a newness in the mundane and the abstract," he says. "I looked to the Britpop poets like Jarvis Cocker and Damon Albarn, drawing upon every day life. I also experimented with the abstract, and looked at Frank Black's work both with the Pixies, and as a solo artist. There was no concept and no call-to-arms."
Fans will get their first listen to some of the songs on Hesitant Alien when Way performs his first solo shows at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in England. He will perform at Reading on August 22nd and at Leeds on August 23rd.

Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We've gotten to go places we never knew we would. We've been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We've shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure.
The band released four albums throughout their career, including the popular The Black Parade. Most recently, the group released the ambitious Danger Days: The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys in 2010.
The Grammy-nominated band was an iconic group during the early-2000s emo movement, mainly on the strength of their breakthrough record Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.
My Chemical Romance Announces New Pre-'Danger Days' Sessions Album + Details!
Please allow me to take a trip down memory avenue for just a minute…. in the year 2008 it was the best of times, it was the worst of times…after years of constant work and travel, The Black Parade had come and gone, and as a band My Chemical Romance had achieved almost every goal we had set for it. Records were sold, doors were kicked in, enemies made and vanquished…I really felt we had made a difference. If there was ever a time to run the credits, call it a day and go out on top …this was it. But here we were, still relatively young and a wide open future seemed to be a blessing and a curse when wondering ‘what the hell comes next?’ A large percentage of my being was convinced the band was over at that point, and so, as it does, depression crept it’s way in.
I have grown up and spent most of my early adulthood being in this band, the thought of that chapter closing was a harsh pill to swallow. But that November I got a call from Gerard that snapped me out of it. We talked for awhile about the band, about why we loved and hated it. We left the conversation with promises to to communicate and plans for a new record in place. In the coming months we forged ahead. Ideas started to take shape….there were conversations about what the songs should sound like, the trading of mix tapes for inspiration, and finally flights were booked to our adopted home of Los Angeles for pre-production.
Looking back to that first phone call, what I think we meant to say to one another was “I miss you. I like making music with you, and in spite of all the other shit that comes with it, good and bad, I still wanna do that.” When you’re in a band for as long as we have been and you’ve reached a certain ‘level’…sometimes all you know how to do is make records. You tend to forget how to do the simple stuff. Like just connect with your friends and make music. No rules, no expectations. Hindsight being 20/20, maybe we should have just locked ourselves in a room and made a bunch of noise until we were inspired to collectively say something on a record. That’s not what ended up happening. Instead we planned on making a specific kind of record, we wrote songs to fit that specific plan, and then we flogged ourselves for it not feeling right, organic, or complete.
After almost a year of beating ourselves up, we ended up shelving those ill-fated songs, and reconnected with Rob Cavallo and Doug McKean to salvage our band and make what would become Danger Days.
To kill the misconception, I don’t think the songs we wrote before Danger Days are bad songs by any means. In fact, I kinda think some of them are among my favorites we have ever written. A lot of them are kinda fucking rad….they just so happened to have been created in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and we as their parents were not ready to raise them just yet…and so they sat and waited.
They hung out on my iPod and every few months I would visit them and think ‘…damn.’ At first they gave me mixed feelings…I liked the songs but I couldn’t help associating them with the hard times from which they were created. It made me a bit uneasy. But as time passed I began to enjoy them more and more, and was able to look upon the past a bit more fondly. They were my secret playlist, only for me. Like some unknown band that I discovered and loved, and that few others in the world had ever heard.
The more time went by, the more I toyed with the fantasy of releasing those songs. What would people think? Would they like them as much as I do now? Or was our first instinct of locking them away, never to be heard from again, the right move?
Recently we had a band meeting, we ended up talking about the past, and together we listened to those songs we created almost 4 years ago. We discussed the the way those songs made us feel, how they led us to where we are now and what the fate of those songs should be. How can we fully move on if we continue to hide the past? Together we decided that this chapter in My Chemical Romance’s history no longer needed to be locked away.
So beginning in October we will be releasing 2 songs a month for 5 months. 10 songs in total from the Conventional Weapons sessions we did back in 2009. We hope you enjoy these time capsules, and that they may shed a little more light on how and where Danger Days came from, and maybe even where the future of MCR might be heading. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…and now it is finally time to lift the veil on Conventional Weapons.

My Chemical Romance Builds Own Studio to Record New Material
My Chemical Romance have built their own studio and had this to say in regards "Back in L.A. we just got a studio so we’re kind of building that out and basically trying to make a compound where we can be creative and be there whenever we want to be. That’s the tough thing doing records in a cycle and you have three or four months where you have to write and record a record and sometimes that’s tough. You can take longer, but you always feel like there’s something over your head like a time constraint and now we’ll have our own place where we can go and make music 24 hours a day. It’s gonna be great!"

My Chemical Romance Loose A Drummer
Fill in drummer Mike Pedicone who's been filling in as the touring drummer since original drummer Bob Bryar left in 2010 is now out of the band. A statement was posted on the band's website and guitarist Frank Iero had this to say in regards to this occurence,
Hello all,
Some shit happened last night and before the blogosphere gets all crazy with false statements and ridiculous opinions we want the true story to come from us... But please listen close because this is the only time we are ever going to talk about this. The relationship between My Chemical Romance and Michael Pedicone is over. He was caught red handed stealing from the band and confessed to police after our show last night in Auburn, Washington. We are heartbroken and sick to our stomachs over this entire situation. The band has no intention of pressing charges or taking this matter any further than we have to. We just want him out of our lives. The people who play in this band are a family, and family should not take advantage of each other like he did. We are currently moving forward, and hope to have a new drummer in place for our show in Salt Lake City, Utah. The show must go on.

My Chemical Romance - Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys
Well it's here...sorta the highly anticipated album of the year brings back alternative rockers My Chemical Romance to the foreground of the music scene. But this time they've left their black parade attire behind along with everything else. "Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys", is the fourth album in the My Chemical Romance catalog so this time the concept takes a different toll by surrounding the lives of the "Fabulous Killjoys".
The band poses as the four Killjoys (minus former drummer Bob Bryar); "Party Poison" (Gerard Way), "Jet Star" (Ray Toro), "Fun Ghoul" (Frank Iero), and "Kobra Kid" (Mikey Way), all of whom are shown in the video for "Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)". So the Killjoys are a group of outlaws fighting against an evil corporation called Better Living Industries (BL/ind.) lead by Korse in the year 2019. Their guide through this treacherous time is pirate radio DJ, Dr. Death Defying.
So when it comes down to this album the old school fan base of My Chemical Romance may need some time to adjust to this new material because MCR has stepped away from who they once were and now that they’ve stepped it up, it’s a whole another story. Like take "Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)", this upbeat yet very bouncy tune is indeed catchy and fun filled throughout, but it's not the MCR way. "SING", "The Only Hope for Me Is You", each play their roles of being the softer tunes offered on this album. The music plays on a mellow dramatic ground that keeps it on a down low so it isn’t as compelling as the other tunes.
"Party Poison", "Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back", and "S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W", just lack the quality that MCR is known for the instruments are solid ground but it just doesn't live up to the material that "once was". So this is just out dated new material that can't seem to catch a good break. "DESTROYA", and "Vampire Money", tend to make things more complex on this release. These two make the music sound flat it builds up on certain aspects but leaves the listener wondering why am I even listening to this?
"Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys", by My Chemical Romance may look like the rock album of the year for some. But in reality My Chemical Romance should have stuck to their originality of way back when, because this new stuff just isn’t cutting it.

My Chemical Romance Confirm Album Title: Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys
The first reports of My Chemical Romance’s new album title came early this week, when the website of British music retailer HMV was updated with a preorder page for the band’s fourth album, claiming a Nov. 22 release date and the title Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. MCR fans went nuts over word of the new record’s imminence, and some sites reported the news in kind. There’s just one problem:
HMV has not, up to this point, been a reliable source. On several instances in the past, HMV has claimed a forthcoming release date or album title for a highly anticipated release, only for it to be struck down as a hoax by The Powers That Be. It happened at least twice with Chinese Democracy, and again with Eminem’s Relapse. No matter how much they stick to it, if HMV reports a title/release date, I wait for a second source to confirm it before calling it true. That all just basically explains why you’re only reading about it here on Saturday morning as opposed to earlier this week.
As it came to pass, MTV received confirmation from Warner Bros. Records yesterday that My Chemical Romance’s new album will be called Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Hours later, MCR posted a fantastic, Grindhouse-y teaser video saying just that:
It should be noted that WBR would not comment on the rumored Nov. 22 release date, though Rolling Stone ran a piece this week on the album with that release date, but no title. Also, no word yet on a single, though rumors suggest a song called “Bulletproof Heart” might hit radio on the 28th. The only confirmed song titles have been “Na Na Na” and “Sing”.
