2018 is turning out to be an incredible year for South African sludge n rollers Ruff Majik. With two European tours booked that will see them playing Freak Valley Festival and SonicBlast as well as a host of club shows.

They also released their debut full-length album "Seasons" out now to widespread critical acclaim. The guys are happy to announce that they have signed deals with US label Forbidden Place Records to release and distribute Seasons on CD and cassette, while German label Rock Freaks Records will be releasing three versions of the double LP: classic black, coloured (still a secret) and die-hard (very limited).

Vocalist and guitarist Johni Holiday commented on the news "Ruff Majik is immensely excited to take the next step in furthering our career by bringing out physical copies. With the backing of Rock Freaks and Forbidden Place, we’re making a lifelong dream come true!"

Sweden’s revered experimental black metal band Bergraven will release their seminal, critically heralded album, "Dödsvisioner", on vinyl LP on June 1st with Swedish label Nordvis. Originally released by U.S. based Hydra Head Records 11 years ago, the record will get its first ever pressing on wax next month.

It is hard to believe that eleven years have passed since Pär Stille’s Bergraven released "Dödsvisioner" into the black metal biome. Impishly experimental and yet highly honed and focused, it is an album that seeps its way into the subconscious as all the best black metal is wont to do. Perhaps the most striking sensation you get when listening to this album is that doom-informed riffs, idiosyncratic grooves and shadowy interludes included, you are experiencing the work of a mind open to integrating sounds that are rarefied in the often stubbornly traditional black metal genre. It would be difficult to talk about "Dödsvisioner" without a nod in the direction of Xasthur and Burzum before them, but Bergraven’s black metal is not as repetitive and only sometimes as hypnotic as these forebears. The subtle shifts in tempo and dizzying experimental deviations rife on "Dodsvisione" play tricks on the listener’s mind, much like mountains from which the first part of the band’s name come can disorientate and confuse weary walkers, rendering madness a distinct possibility.

"It was more than ten years ago, I had written the darkest music I possibly could. I made so many demos, of the songs, trying to find that perfect balance between listenable music and just pitch black death and sorrow. I was haunted by thoughts of death day and night, in sleep and awake. In many ways I had to make this album to leave parts of all these thoughts if I was to go on living a somewhat normal life. The album became like the last breath, the last waken hour, the last thought. Musically it was the direction I wanted with the band and the addition of Perra behind the drums was absolutely amazing. The doomy slow groove and the surreal fill ins was perfect and if nothing else Perra came up with the title to the album one night when in the studio. He had the perfect guts for this. I also was in contact with Mannevond from KOLDBRANN and really liked his vocal style so I invited him to come to the studio and try to mix his amazing skills with my material. It was totally amazing, I sometimes wonder why he didn't do all of the vocals. I guess I still think the album is great, it holds so many private memories but today it has also grown out of my person, like someone else did it. This makes me enjoy it even more today and finally get in released on vinyl. Thank you so much Nordvis for making this album available in the best format and with new artwork!" - Pär Stille

Pittsburgh, PA's HOREHOUND announce their teaming up with Hellmistress Records to re-issue the Horehound Self-titled 2016 debut for both CD and first-time colored vinyl variants. The seven original tracks have been re-mixed, re-mastered, and now include a bonus song of Portishead's, "Mysterons", covered a la doom!

Digital Streaming on Bandcamp and other outlets, as well as the new CD will be available April 20th 2018, which is the second anniversary of the original release date. Vinyl press is expected to be available on June 1st 2018.

Hailed as "The Best Thrash Metal Debut Album All Time" (VH1), legendary thrash metal trailblazers MEGADETH will continue to celebrate the band’s 35th Anniversary with a deluxe re-issue of their revolutionary debut album, "Killing Is My Business…and Business Is Good!".  The band have partnered with Century Media and Legacy Recordings for a June 8, 2018 release in North America & Europe, and in Japan on June 6, 2018 via Sony Japan.

"Killing Is My Business...and Business Is Good - The Final Kill" has been completely restored to DAVE MUSTAINE’s intended vision. Remixed by veteran metal mixer, Mark Lewis (Trivium, Death Angel, Devildriver, Whitechapel) and re-mastered by Ted Jensen for an optimal listening experience, the 2018 version reveals previously unheard parts and performances throughout the record, including a missing drum performance found during the mixing sessions. This rare gem includes the full original album, along with 7 live audio tracks from VHS tapes found in MUSTAINE’s own attic!

In addition to the bonus live tracks, the re-issue also features MEGADETH’s 1984 3-track demo and the previously removed cover of "These Boots", that has been added back to the record with re-cut vocals true to Lee Hazelwood’s version.

Gallic black metal renegades GLORIOR BELLI are proud to announce the long-overdue analog-only repressing of their ferociously raw debut album, "Ô Laudate Dominvs", due out June 1st 2018 via Ascension Monuments Media.

Originally recorded in 2004 at Hybreed Studios in France and released via Eerie Art Records in 2005, "Ô Laudate Dominvs" is a brutal piece of satanic art, with a personal and strong identity attached to the then-newly founded war machine. Thundering and violent drum patterns, coupled with guitars squealing like freezing razors and profound bass pulsing straight from Hell, all backed by howling vocals that vomit blood, blasphemies and other extremities in a 30-plus-minute sonic bludgeoning akin to Watain, Antaeus and Deathspell Omega. Cover artwork was handled by the prolific Daniel Valencia of Fenomeno Design (Blut Aus Nord, Gloria Diaboli). 

GLORIOR BELLI crept out from the temperamental suburbs of Paris in December 2002. What started as a notorious duo soon became a remarkable Beast, acting as a beacon for everyone looking to free themselves of the influence of the Demiurge.

One of the deepest of all deep-underground rock albums is in stores now. Heaven and Hell Records will soon be reissuing a square-peg of a sort, which might leave a few scratching their heads. For the first time ever officially reissued, and first time ever released on CD WHITE BOY AND THE AVERAGE RAT BAND will be made available for collectors and introduced to new audiences. The band are hitting the West Coast to celebrate, including a date in Los Angeles February 9th 2018.

Now after all these years, this album will finally get a proper reissue, fully digitally re-mastered from the original tapes and released on CD limited to 500 copies worldwide, with booklet containing lyrics and liner-notes by guitarist Mike Matney. The CD version will also include 5 bonus tracks that will only be available on CD version. Also WHITE BOY AND THE AVERAGE RAT BAND debut LP will be re-released for the first time officially on vinyl in a limited 500 pressing; 100 coke-clear and 400 black pieces. The album will be fully re-mastered from the original tape sources to assure that best sound quality possible. This will be the only official reissue of this release, others are unofficial bootlegs taken mastered from vinyl sources. Both are available on Heaven or Hell's Bandcamp HERE.

WHITE BOY AND THE AVERAGE RAT BAND formed in the small secluded Virginia mountain town Richlands around 1979 after guitarist and founder Mike Matney returned from a short stint with a band in Nashville, Tennessee. Once back home Matney began to put together his Average Rat Band consisting of bassist Tommy Altizer (R.I.P) , rhythm guitarist Seth Kelly and Tim Gilbert. Matney was a staggerly talented musician referred to by Ron Garmon in LA Record as Richland, Virginia's Roky Erickson. Ron added, "I think that one of the reasons people like this record is its isolated, alienated quality. It’s not an expression of anybody trying to get anywhere. Rather, it’s a raw power urge to make rock ‘n’ roll—a pure thing." You can read the interview HERE.

In 1980 the band was ready to go into a small local studio and record a slap of DIY heaviness. The 8-track album would see a modest release of 300 as higher distribution was beyond the band’s means.

Jump forward several years and WHITE BOY AND THE AVERAGE RAT BAND was now an obscure memory, but the album the band released was beginning to be remembered, remembered and discovered by collectors worldwide who were paying hundreds of dollars to get one of these pieces of wax in their collections. Fans of early Sabbath, Priest, Motorhead, Axe, Wicked Witch, A Band Called Death, Roky Erikson, The MC5, and Iggy and the Stooges will certainly find this to be appealing.

On the occasion of their twentieth anniversary, the death black metal commando Stillborn have prepared a reissue of their first two demos which will now - for the first time - be available on CD limited to 300 copies. Original versions of "Mirrormaze", and "Die In Torment 666", will be released on a single CD, additionally enriched with two, previously unreleased tracks recorded during the recording sessions of the two demos. The cover, the artwork and the whole layout of the release were handled by Bartek Kurzok. A special booklet features hardly known stuff from 1998-2001 that comes from the band's archives.

EMP LABEL GROUP has announced the formation of EMP OUTLAW, a Southern Rock/Outlaw Country Imprint, set to reissue METAL COWBOY, the 2014 independent release from legendary Steeler/Keel vocalist Ron Keel, in stores 3/2/18. 2018 will also see the studio debut from Ron Keel Band, the highly anticipated follow up to METAL COWBOY, entitled FIGHT LIKE A BAND.

After a storied career that began as lead vocalist for Steeler, which would also go on to include guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen, and selling millions of records under his eponymous KEEL with classic albums THE RIGHT TO ROCK and THE FINAL FRONTIER (both Produced by KISS’ Gene Simmons), Keel veered off into brave new territory with the decidedly Southern Rock/Outlaw Country feel of METAL COWBOY.

METAL COWBOY RELOADED features remixed and remastered versions of the tracks from the original independent release, featuring a star studded lineup of guest musicians including Frank Hannon (Tesla), Mike Vanderhule (Y&T), Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt/Quiet Riot), Travis Toy (Rascal Flatts) and more, including fan favorite tracks “Just Like Tennessee” and “What Would Skynyrd Do?”, plus the bonus track "Rock N Roll Hell" featuring Troy Lucketta (Tesla) on drums and Jeff Labar/Eric Brittingham from Cinderella on guitar and bass.

Originally released in 2014, METAL COWBOY was a bold new direction for Keel, pulling strongly from the playbook of Country and Southern Rock, while maintaining the powerful Rock edge and unmistakable powerhouse vocals Keel is known for. While Keel had some success in Country and Southern Rock after the dissolution of KEEL (who reunited in 2008), METAL COWBOY definitively established Keel’s musical identity, although its genesis had far deeper roots.

“We (KEEL) recorded a version of ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Outlaw’ for Penelope Spheeris for the DUDES Movie Soundtrack that also features Megadeth, W.A.S.P., Steve Vai, and Jane’s Addiction. It ended up being a great cult film and I’d love it even if I wasn’t in it. That really was the genesis of the Metal Cowboy – ‘Outlaw’ became my signature song, and ended up featured in the movie twice!”

After releasing METAL COWBOY and relocating to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Keel would go on to form RON KEEL BAND, with a new powerhouse band featuring the best players the Midwest has to offer. While sticking to the earthy Southern charms of METAL COWBOY, RKB showcases a new, rich musical fabric for Keel and his bandmates.

“I knew EMP was the perfect home for this project,” Ron says. “Knowing David (Ellefson) personally, their diverse artist roster, and the quality of their products and business model told me all I needed to know.”

Regarding the direction of the new project, Keel sees this RKB release as the first in a series. “I want each album to contain new original music, covers of some classics that I love, and brand-new versions of songs from throughout my career.” Already in the can: a medley of the KEEL hits “The Right To Rock,” “Because The Night,” “Tears Of Fire,” and “Somebody’s Waiting.”

Says EMP LABEL GROUP’s Thom Hazaert, “When someone like Ron Keel comes to you and says he wants to be on your label, it pretty much just happens, and that’s pretty much verbatim how it happened. One day me and David got an email from Ron saying he was a fan of EMP and he wanted to be on the label. So we created a label just FOR him. Bottom line, Ron is one of the most talented Rock vocalists of our generation, and a true gentleman outlaw, and we are honored to have him as part of the EMP family.”

Saber Tiger was founded in 1981 by guitarist Akihito Kinoshita and they have been illuminating the Japanese metal scene ever since. In recent years, they have been more prolific than ever, leading to the international release of "Bystander Effect", via Sliptrick Records in March, 2018. Due to this signing of Sliptrick Records, the album illustrates the broad appeal of Saber Tiger. The riffs are intricate, yet catchy. The songs are heavy, yet melodic. And the vocals of Takenori Shimoyama are raw, but extremely passionate. As a result, the groups heavy metal is classic and timeless while at the same time having the potential to appeal to both traditional metal-heads and fans of contemporary power metal. There are even some progressive influences in their music. The band may have been around for a long time but there is a freshness and commitment to the music that belies their many years and the band certainly sound nothing if not contemporary.

The release of "Bystander Effect", is not just a simple re-issue for the international market; four of the tracks, originally in Japanese, have been re-recorded with English lyrics, while the brand new acoustic instrumental "Ship Of Theseusand", a new recording of the Saber Tiger classic "First Class Fool", are exclusive to the Sliptrick Records release. Also, demo recordings of the spectacular tracks "Sin Eater", and "What I Used To Be", are included. There is no better way to get acquainted with Saber Tiger’s unique brand of heavy metal.

Saber Tiger commenced life in the same year as their famous compatriots Loudness and Anthem. Their somewhat remote location on the northern island of Hokkaido and the numerous line-up changes they had to endure in their early years have slowed down the band’s rise a little, but Kinoshita’s “never say die” determination has resulted in a legacy of first class metal. Besides Kinoshita and Shimoyama, Saber Tiger now consist of guitarist Yasuharu Tanaka, drummer Yasuhiro Mizuno and young bass wizard Hibiki, the most recent addition to the band.

In June of 2016, the band played its first two shows on European soil, which finally opened the door to introduce Japan’s best kept metal secret to the rest of the world. In case you missed that, the international release of Bystander Effect is your chance to get to know Saber Tiger.

Test Your Metal Records is proud to announce their latest signing of Mumbai rock 'n rollers Overhung for the re-release of their 2016 album "Moving Ahead". The full length is an electrifying 10 tracks ready to blast from the stereo speakers and give fans that classic glam rock n' roll feel of the 70's and 80's.  In their native country of India, the Mumbai rock band has been garnering praise along with their straight to the point lyrics about sex and more sex that they feel is still a topic too taboo to be spoken of. "Moving Ahead" will be distributed in North America in 2018 by Test Your Metal Records along with a new single to be released by the band entitled “King Of Dreams” at a later date.

Beta Cessions: Demos & Rarities brings together a fan-focused collection of 26 songs, many of which have gone previously unreleased. Such mixes include early demo versions of "Switchback" with never-before-heard lyrics, as well as early demos with alternate arrangements and musical production for "Afraid This Time," "The Last Firstborn," "Stay With Me" (Unlikely) and "Uncrowned." Other unreleased versions of tracks include an 'electronic-instrumental-mix' of "Symbiont" and a Karaoke version of "So Sorry To Say" featuring the instrumental version the song, but with backing vocals included.

Beta Cessions: Demos & Rarities delivers on the rarities side as well, bringing full digital/streaming access to previously released but rare tracks, such as the 2001 alternate mixes of "Switchback" (mixed by Ben Grosse) and "Stay With Me" (Unlikely) (mixed by Scott Humphrey & Frank Gryner). Disney's Star Darling's debut in fall 2015, launching as a book series, where the story followed an extraordinary group of twelve teenage girls, from an all girls school called Starling Academy, who have been chosen to come down to Wishworld or Earth, to grant twelve special wishes in order to save their homeland that is Starland from an evil force.


This lead to the books of the girls being made into dolls, the first 5 girls and books in the series featuring Leona, Libby, Sage, Scarlet, and Vega, these dolls featuring the girls in their signature Starland attire, while a few of them received doll releases in their Wishworld forms as well.

All of this being said, the Star Darling's dolls are receiving another "re-release". The first release was released through Justice retailers, following a second re-release through other retails from the Disney Store to Target, Walmart, and Toys R Us.

Now a third re-release is being made from Costco retailers, having the dolls of three of the girls, Sage, Libby, and Scarlet being sold separately, sold in their box as the doll as well as the box that goes with their story, all included in 1 box.

My Chemical Romance made a buzz when posting a video with music to "Welcome to the Black Parade" in it, indicating a date of this fall, September 23rd 2016. What did it mean though, was the band getting back together, doing a tour, show, what? Well as it turns out, the band will not be getting back together, or doing any type of shows or tours.
