Edge Of Attack Revival and New EP Release "Through The Gates"
Edge Of Attack have had their up's and down's like many acts over the years. But after announcing their disbandment in 2016, no other material or word of the band would come forth. That is until now, where sole only original member and remaining member Jurekk James guitarist/vocalist would make the announcement of the band releasing a brand new EP. Except this EP would be under the Edge Of Attack namesake as well as his own name as well. It would be titled "Through The Gates" by Jurekk James's Edge Of Attack, containing 4-tracks total with numerous special guest vocalists, including Tyler Mason and JC Duvivier. Edge Of Attack's Jurekk says The End is My Insanity
Edge Of Attack came together in 2008, was an active band playing shows, writing and recording material that would lead to two LP's "Edge Of Attack" (2013) and "Fiend Of Possession" (2016). Later having the band split up due to typical band reasoning's. But looks on the horizon see the band possibly getting back together in the coming future. For now though, Jurekk James guitarist/vocalist goes into detail about his time with Edge Of Attack, and how some of the material off their releases dealt with mental illness and how he is here to help those who suffer just as he does.
1. You mentioned of suffering from a mental illness, would you like to disclose what mental illness?
I suffer from anxiety and depression. It's always been present in my music, lyrical-wise as well. It's more presented in "My Insanity", like that is my song.
2. How do "My Insanity" and "The End" involve your mental illness?
"My Insanity", the song was written in a weird temp and the intro was also in a weird way. More or less though, the idea of the song was for me to write a song, that was super weird. But it was still catchy as well. I always have to have that hook, to hook you in ya know? I can't go and write a song without a BIG hook! The idea of the song and its lyrics, it's about the struggle with anxiety and depression. Like I think the song opens up with the lyrics that read "What do you do when all hope is gone". That says it all right there alone.
Now "The End" was written in a phase of my life at the time of where I was with someone, for the longest time. I wrote that song about us, because we were coming to an end. It is just life and how it works, it just doesn't work out, like a never ending cycle type of thing.
I have nothing against Roxanne, whom I was with for 4 years. She just didn't have the ethic to want to go and work, let alone finish the album. The album being "Fiend Of Possession", doesn't even have her on it, because she was hating me at that time, she never finished it. She's only present on some of the material off that album.
3. Can you go into further detail about how "My Insanity" revolves around your mental illness?
"My Insanity" was written from a person dealing with panic disorder and depression. If you listen to the lyrics, it is more about always being on edge. It is like if you are going to get ready and someone is watching you. This song being a favorite for me off this album. The guest vocalist we had really nailing the vocals but anyway! This song is just for those people who deal with anxiety that is all it is. It's like to those who have that paranoia anxiety feeling of always being watched or followed ya know? It's hard to live with, but after a while you can deal with it. But it is also hard to accept it too. This song was written at a time I was not so sure, on who I was.
4. What about "The End", what can you explain about how this track involves your mental state of being.
"The End" was written like I said, it is in the same texture on purpose because there is that feeling of tension when you listen to the song. Lyrically the song was written for those who know of something or someone and being able to let go. Just let go of what you have known of that time, place, person or whatever it may be and just accept and be who you are as a person.
5. Why was it just these tracks off "Fiend Of Possession" that reflected your mental illness so much so?
If you ever listen to my lyrics, under my namesake, they always involve or revolve around my mental illnesses. Those two songs came out as being the one's because they were able to allow me to be expressive of myself. Which I don't really do often or before actually. Usually when I write lyrics I do it differently and these songs I just poured my heart into them so to speak.
6. What do you have to say to those who also suffer from mental illnesses?
Push through. Like when you get through high school, there is that sense thinking that all the problems will go away type of feeling but it is not like that. You get those same problems if not a new set of problems you will always be dealing with. It is okay, being who you are is who you are. Just be you, push yourself to your own goals and everything will be fine and work out.
7. How would you say you cope your everyday life with this mental illness?
For me, coping was really hard. When I was with other acts, it was really hard. I didn't know who I was or where I was really. By the time I had written these tracks we discussed I had grown a lot. In terms of how I deal, I take each day at a time, set goals for myself and accomplish them one by one. You just have to push through it's all you can really do.
8. Would you want to give any advice or recommendations in regards to mental illness and what people should do if they are suffering or in your position?
I've been on medication for a while, they never really helped. The biggest thing for me, was being able to talk to someone, no matter who it was. If I had someone to talk too about my issues for 5 minutes if not more than that like 1-2 hours, then that would work for me. Being able to just talk about your issues and being able to express what you're dealing with is all you need really. It was for me, it's helped me a lot, so if you are someone that is not one to talk to others. Try your best to bring yourself out of your comfort zone as best as possible and just talk it out. It will help you out and go a long ways. The thing most people don't understand with these issues is the pressure we have and being able to get it off your chest. It just goes a long way ya know? I talk to my own sister and she is my rock just having someone to talk too everyday will do the trick. There is a tip too just talk.9. What about to those who feel they are a bother to those around them and don't know what to say when needing to talk it out?
You are not bothering them. You would be surprised who would show up. Your family or friends will always be there and want to talk with you. You just need to be the one to speak up. Just be honest about how you feel, they are always willing to listen.
10. Anything else you want to say or get out there?

Edge Of Attack's Jurekk says the Band is In Hell Forever
Edge Of Attack released their "Self-Titled" debut album, along with various singles, videos, and then played shows, touring here and there. Then the band took some time a part to focus on other things, while doing the band when possible, which lead to them writing and recording an EP that would turn into their sophomore full-length album "Fiend Of Possession", where the band would then decide to call it quits. Guitarist, back-up vocalist, recorder of mixing and mastering, Jurekk James, discusses the band's disbandment, last and latest release, and what the future holds.
1. First of all, who are you, and what do you do in the band?
Jurekk: I'm Jurekk James, I play guitar, do back-up vocals, record, mix and master the songs, that's mostly what I do.
2. It's been 3 years, since we last spoke, and or heard anything from Edge Of Attack, so what has the band been up too between now and then?
Jurekk: Nothing. Nothing really. Slowly working on things in the studio, not really playing shows, except for a few, a lot of my time was consumed in my other band Kobra and the Lotus, which took up a lot of my time. So the band hasn't really been up to too much. We just announced our disbanding, whatever you wanna call it, and released the new album, however you want to buy it, most people will probably get it for free. So that would be us in a nutshell.
3. Can you give me a brief summary as to why the band decided to disband, and is this a permanent disbandment, or will we see the band coming back at a later time?
Jurekk: We weren't really that into it. I was into it, Roxanne, is a full time tattoo artist, and everyone else has full time jobs, families, their own lives. So nobody really had the time to do it anymore, to do it the right way, to go out on tours and stuff like that. As far as us getting back together again, we might do a goodbye show locally, there are other things too, like our trademark expired and thats thousands of dollars, so yeah.
4. In 2015, you mentioned of announcing a new EP, new album, and heading out on tour, what happened to that trio?
Jurekk: We did the EP, then I got hired, with Kobra and the Lotus, which again took up a lot of my time, so I couldn't do much of anything. So when I came back from that, the sizzle had just died out, nobody really asking questions what us, etc. But we kept working on it, releasing the EP locally, then kept working on the album, finally one day I had just had enough of it. Having to order the CDs, get them printed, send them out for reviews, this and that just fuck it, here it is!
5. Last time we spoke was 3 years ago, when we discussed an upcoming EP release, is that said EP, this sophomore full-length "Fiend of Possession"?
Jurekk: The EP was called "Fiend of Possession", so the songs off it, then I just kept it as is, because we never had gotten around to finishing it, coming up with a new name, artwork, etc. So it's one in the same thing, some of the songs off the EP, made it onto this album.
6. During that same discussion, you mentioned that videos were to be made, aside from the two that were released previously for "In Hell" and "Forever", were there anymore videos made from any of the old or new material, that we may get to see?
Jurekk: No, no, no, back then, we were really strong, we were going to do the typical thing release a single, video, the album, go on tour, another single and video, all of those things go together. But we just didn't have the resources for it. If they want a video I will use my smart phone and use my dogs and that's what you will get.7. In our previous interview, you mentioned of bringing guest vocalists, to come in and be on some material, did that ever take place?
Jurekk: Oh yeah. Oddly enough Roxanne isn;t even on half of the album. A couple of the songs, were going to be on my solo project, but I didn't have the efforts to go through with it, but didn't want those guest vocalists to do their work for nothing ya know? So okay, we got James Arsenian on the song "Revolution", the singer from Exs to Eyes, and is on the company Right Hook Mics, he makes the microphones. Dan Vasc is on "Death Cold Embrace", saw him on YouTube doing cover videos, then we have Hess Melani from the band Hess on the song "My Insanity", she added me on Facebook and wanted her to sing some shit after hearing a cover she posted. Then we have Ivan Giannini on "As Skies Turn Black" he was on the last album. Rob Lundgren on "Walk of Ashes" also found on YouTube thought he sounded great, there's a lots of guest singers and it keeps it interesting. It keeps it interesting to hear a lot of voices all the time.
8. Besides "Fiend of Possession", was there any other music, made that may get to see the light of day, or is what is given on "Fiend of Possession", what we will be getting?
Jurekk: Obviously there were a lot of B-Sides, and we worked on them, and I didn't like them, and if I don't like them, then you won't hear them. But there was the one song called "Death's Cold Embrace", like an Egyptian scale to the song, and had written and recorded it and put my own vocals, and I didn't like it how it sounded. Then 2 years passed, and it sounded really good with better songs on it. So don't hate a song just because I suck at singing.
9. Did anything become of your solo project named after you Jurekk James?
Jurekk: No, not really, finding musicians out here is pretty hard to do. Anything else I do from here will be solo project based, so watch on my YouTube, to see what I am up too.
10. Since the band has disbanded, what can we expect to see from you guys as far as the future is concerned?Jurekk: Well you can expect me to be doing something. As far as the old drummer Trevor, he quit because he didn't like touring. Our bass player and other vocalist have their other band Gun Slinger, and Roxanne, will probably be in another band but not a metal one, perhaps a rock one.
11. Anything else you'd like to add on and or say to the fans out there?
Jurekk: My fans are awesome and buy my shit! So I don't go broke!
Edge Of Attack Disbands and Releases New Album
Edge Of Attack have decided to disband posting the following message upon the band's Facebook page: "It's with a heavy heart that I write to all of you letting you know that Edge of Attack will be disbanding. I'd like to thank everyone who came out to the tours, bought the album, and were just all around awesome people! But i'm not just going to leave you hanging! Here's the entire new album available for whatever price you can afford! Thanks everyone for the wild ride and i'll see you on the next project! -lead guitarist Jurekk James !,,!"

Edge Of Attack's Jurekk Whipple Discusses New EP and Future Plans
Canadians Edge Of Attack are currently in the writing and recording mode for an all new EP since their departure with Spread the Metal Records. With that said guitarist and vocalist Jurekk Whipple discusses the EP's process and future plans they have lined-up for the time being.
1. Introduce yourself and tell me your role in the band?
Jurekk: Hello my name is Jurekk Whipple I play lead guitar/sing in Edge Of Attack and I also play the harmonica.
2. So tell me how did the partnership with Spread the Metal Records end? Why did you see this fit to end it altogether?
Jurekk: Well what had happened was when we first joined the record company we were kind of in a dispute of when the album was going to come out and who was going to distribute it and all that stuff. Then when it finally came time to put it out, it had already been heard by the fans, so we were kind of upset about that. Basically what had happened in the end was that he told our producer to go pound sand and that he was a ferlandterpist who had saved thousands of lives and what have we done with any of our lives lately - just refusing to pay for anything even though he was obligated to do so, since it was clearly written in our contract he pays for this and if he doesn't make the money back from it well then he's a fucking retard. So what happened was that he released the album pretty much a month ahead of our contract expiring so he didn't make his money back. Apparently what's going on now is that our album has been selling well since the point of when our contract expired so we're about to get into a little bit of a legal debate with him, but I think that's all I can give away without ruining somebody's life.
3. Since you're no longer a part of a label you will be releasing your upcoming EP release independently - do you think this particular route will work well for you guys?
Jurekk: Well what we're doing right now is we're working on an EP because of our fans getting delayed so much in the release of our album, we kind of feel we should put out something soon that has like 4 or 5 songs on it and just get some more new Edge Of Attack in the works because they waited so long for it. I am glad they did too. But what we're doing is the EP going to release it solo for now. In terms of other labels if the right contract comes around then we'll sign with them. But for the time being we're not just going to sign with anybody because in the state of the music industry record labels actually do less and less for bands so we're just going to try the solo thing for a while see how that goes hopefully everybody will dig it. I mean everyone is just going to download it anyways.
4. Where are you guys in the process of the new EP?
Jurekk: We have all the instruments written and recorded and just have the vocals left. When it will be released we're not sure but we'll probably release a single then a video, then another video then it will see a release with the 4-5 songs included including the cover song.
5. How many songs will be on it?
Jurekk: I think 4 original and 1 cover song so we thought recording that would do us well since it did well on our last tour so right now it's about 5 songs but you never know I could end up writing more.
6. Have you decided on a title? Will it be a concept release?
Jurekk: There's no title yet but most likely will be titled after one of the songs and no concept it's hard to make a release based on 4 or 5 songs but the album artwork is picked out. So we're trying to write a song to go with the artwork but we're sure it will work out.
7. Will there be any surprises or collaborations on it?
Jurekk: Yes we have guest vocals having singer Siegfried Song from Korea so we're throwing in some flavor, this time around, making sure that everything is in check and making it more complex all better sounding and smooth like an Edge Of Attack 2.0.
8. When can we expect it to be released?
Jurekk: That's all a matter of when I can get off my ass and do it. I suffered a major hip failure so soon enough I will get to work on the rest of the songs and get it released soon.
9. Has Edge Of Attack ever played in the States or plan to do so in the future?
Jurekk: We'd love too! But the problem is if we go down there to the U.S. on our own it's not the greatest experience because we all have our own lives and payments for rent, food, kids, etc. So we're waiting for another band who would like to bring us along with them for us to explore the states but we'll be out there eventually.
10. Do any of you have any other side projects going on?
Jurekk: I do but as far as I know it's just me. Mine is a little different, guitar work is really complex it's just solo stuff doing a whole bunch of melodic mixing's of thrash metal, metalcore, melodic metal, which you can hear on Edge Of Attack. So what I am doing is having so many different singers for it, looking for different voices and it will be a concept following a story for each of the songs. 11. What else do you guys have planned for the remainder of this year, leading into next year?
Jurekk: This year we're doing this music festival then just recording after that who knows. Right now just focusing on the EP, videos, just seeing what happens next.

Edge of Attack Announce 'Northern Destruction n Tour
Grande Prairie, AB power-thrash five-piece Edge of Attack are proud to announce they will be trekking across Alberta for the month of June along with a tour date in Winnipeg, MB for their Northern Destruction Tour in promotion of their debut self titled album released on Spread The Metal Records earlier this year.

Edge Of Attack Settles their Differences about Debut Album
Edge Of Attack has gotten signed to Spread The Metal Records going back to re-record as well as write some new tunes that weren't featured on the demo version of their self-titled debut. Now that everything is better than ever before, they have set their eyes upon the prize of getting their music out for everyone to see and hear! The entire band took sometime to discuss the differences between the demo and final versions of this exciting release!
1. Your Self-titled previous release you had sent me featured a track called "Crimson Rain" why did you decide to not include it on this version?
The copy you received was, more or less, a demo version of the album we are set to release on February 19th on Spread The Metal Records. The final version has been overhauled significantly from what you originally heard, which includes the re-recording of many of the instrument and vocal tracks. The songs are so much more well-rounded, and complete, in our opinion. However, 'Crimson Rain' was a song we felt did not contribute to the overall feel and theme of the rest of the album.
2. This release features 2 new tracks that weren't included in the previous release "In Hell" and "In The Night" can you tell me about them?
We had been working on both tracks while we were preparing for the original independent release date that we had set for the album, and they had both come along so well. So much, that we decided to add them in the place of 'Crimson Rain.' We believe that both songs flow much better, and compliment the rest of the album to give the listener a better feel for us and what has inspired us. 'In Hell' is the single we're promoting right now, and we believe it encompasses the greater part of the musical styles that comprise Edge of Attack. It's heavy, it's fast, yet has the melodic chorus that you would hear in traditional power metal. 'In the Night,' is a slightly different beast, showcasing a more grassroots approach to our styling's.
3. Andrew Triebel did the previous artwork but did he also do the artwork for this new version or was it someone totally different?
The artwork for the official release was done by the very talented Caio Caldas of CadiesArt, based out of Brazil. Seeing as we are now a part of a record label, we took the opportunity to reinvent and polish the album. Caio's work is so phenomenal; we couldn't resist his offer to work on something for us. If you listen to the album from start to finish, you will be able to hear and see the connection between the artwork and the music that we have put together, so we feel this change was the right choice.
4. You went ahead and re-recorded all of the songs from the copy you gave me, why did you go and do this?
With our signing to Spread The Metal Records, we were given access to several tools that had not previously been available to us, most notably, access to a very talented man named Sheldon Zaharko. Sheldon is a Juno award-winning engineer that has played roles in recordings with such amazing musicians as Rob Halford, Marilyn Manson, and Devin Townsend. In addition to this, Jurekk had perfected several new recording/production techniques during the original recordings that would prove to be extremely useful in crafting a better sounding album. Having both Jurekk and Mr. Zaharko, and the time to pull it off, we felt we would be crazy not to give this album the treatment it deserved.
5. Spread The Metal Records is the label to call home for you guys but how did the signing come about? Are you happy with being a part of their family?
We were literally days away from our original independent release of our self-titled album when we were contacted by Spread The Metal. Obviously, we were ecstatic to have an offer on the table. The terms of the contract worked for us, so we gladly accepted. It is with their help that we were connected with Mr. Zaharko, who did an excellent job of mixing and mastering. So far, it has been a successful partnership with Spread The Metal, and only time will tell how far things can really go.
Jurekk is an extremely talented musician, but has so much more of an understanding than simply how to play the guitar or how to sing the proper harmony. He is, in essence, the mastermind of Edge of Attack. It began as his project, and his stamp of authority is all over everything we do. He has an uncanny ear for what sounds best, but is humble enough to allow another member to have their ideas replace his if he feels that they are for the greater good of the song in question. Most songs start with Jurekk, but he is open to all the ideas that the other members offer, and can easily take these ideas and turn them into something that we can gladly call 'Edge of Attack.'
7. Several guest artists made appearances on this release including solo artist Ivan Gianinni, Ryan Bovaird (Hallows Die) and Pellek (Damnation Angels) why these acts in particular and what did they bring to this release?
It is a true honor to have such amazing guests on this album, and we believe that they add an unforgettable touch to their respective songs. Ryan Bovaird is a good personal friend of the band since we met him and the other members of Hallows Die when they came to our hometown and played a show alongside us. 'The Damned' was a bit rawer than the other material and we felt his gutteral growls would do nothing but boost the overall impact and feel of the song. The same goes for the songs that Ivan and Pellek sing on. They were both introduced to Edge of Attack through Jurekk's personal dealings with them through the wonder that we call the internet. We had two songs that would benefit greatly from their amazing talents, and we were lucky enough that they both agreed. We couldn't be happier with the final product of our dealings with all three guest artists.
8. Was your songwriting and recording process any different than usual for this CD?
The songwriting process for us is an ongoing thing. We never truly stop writing, regardless of circumstance. We drew ideas from some of the things that make us all who we are, not only from our musical influences, but from things around us that have impacted our life. It was truly a group effort, so you really get a feel for everyone in the band. Also, from playing and listening to the songs, day in and day out, we were able to 'poke holes' in the songs and come up with ways to improve them, which is not necessarily something every band gets to do prior to release. I'm sure, many times, a band releases an album and wishes they could go back and change something. We had the opportunity to make many of the changes that we felt would make the songs better, so it's kind of unique in a way.
9. What are your expectations for the CD?
We don't have any expectations for the album, really. I think the proper term would be to call it hope. We do what we do because we love to do it, and we want to share our passion and energy with the world. Simply being able to continue doing what we love is return enough. We all find ways to get by without our music paying our bills, but of course, if we had the opportunity to make a living from our music, it would be simply so we would have even more time to devote to it.
10. What are your upcoming tour plans?
We plan on doing a Canadian/North American tour shortly after the CD release, stopping at as many places as we can along the way. We aspire to tour South America and overseas as well, as we have significant fan bases in both regions. Obviously, tours to both South America and Europe are quite a bit harder for us to organize and fund than shows here in our homeland, so for now all we can say is that our hearts are with our fans that we haven't physically been able to reach yet.
11. The plans for Edge Of Attack for 2013 are what, where, and why?
We hope to have a successful album launch, and subsequent tour(s). We will be continuing to write material, because you can never have enough, and never stop evolving. Hopefully, we can keep going in the right direction, acquiring new fans, and have an overall successful year. We expect to have some ups and downs, as every band does, but we are prepared to take whatever comes at us, and emerge as unscathed as possible.12. If I were to introduce someone to your music, what would be the song that you think really shows your band sound the best?
Although it might sound like a contrived answer seeing as we are currently promoting our latest single, 'In Hell,' I would have to say it is the right song. It showcases many of the different things that come together to create what we consider to be 'our sound.' It has the shredding guitars, melodic vocals, driving bass, and ferocious drumming that we consider integral to Edge of Attack.
Edge Of Attack’s Second Coming Discussion
It's been a while since last speaking with metal outfit Edge Of Attack. Since then the band has been busy writing, recording, and replacing previous members. While also releasing an all new video for the hit single "Forever" along with the upcoming debut of their self-titled release. Find out just what else we can expect to see from these metal misfits of 2012.
1. So what happened with Edge Of Attack since we last spoke, you got an all new line-up who left and who came aboard?
We've been busy to say the least. Just in the last month alone we've toured the new material, we've been signed, and we've begun to write and record new material. As for the line-up shift, we had Denver come on board to replace Kayle on bass guitar.
2. Who produced your self-titled debut and what label released the album?
Jurekk is working very hard at producing the album and it is soon to be released with Spread the Metal Records.
3. What inspired the album title and is it a concept album? Can you tell me about the album artwork who designed it and what does it symbolize for the band?
The album is self-titled because it represents a reinvention of our sound, which is a very important aspect of the album. The art was done by artist Andrew Triebel and it captures the vision of our song, which is also titled, Edge of Attack.
4. How would you describe the overall sound of the new album? How does it compare to “No Return”?
It's an American take on power metal. As a whole it is completely different, though you can still feel some strong thrash influences.
5. Did the band have any definitive goals they were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?
Of course our foremost goal was to sign a recording contract with the new album. Luckily for us, it happened before we even had the chance to release it.
6. Are you using any new instrumentation you've never used in the recording process before?
We're utilizing choral and symphonic arrangements with greater depth.
7. When did you start writing for this album? How was the songwriting process different/similar to previous albums?
The writing process is very intensive. It's hard to pinpoint a specific starting time because writing is a constant process. We are constantly stockpiling ideas for new songs.
8. Can you go into one or two tracks on the new album? If so, can you give us the track title and brief description of how the track sounds and how it came about?
Well, at this point it's hard to say which songs will make the final track list and we would rather leave it to the fans to get their first impressions from the music.
9. How was the vibe in the studio?
We are just in the process of heading back to the studio now, but we tend to keep things very low-key and professional. We get along well so things are typically upbeat and run as smoothly as we can manage.
10. When can we expect the new album to be released?
Our target is in the August/September 2012 area.
11. Have you been road testing any of the new material? If so, how have audiences reacted to the new material?
We just wrapped up our Attack the West tour. The overall response was great, and we had the chance to win over some unlikely audiences.
12. Will you be touring this album? Is there a chance you will be doing a short tour before the album is released?
Having just covered Western Canada, our plan is to tour North and South America once our album is complete.
13. Did you feel any pressure when it came down to writing, recording, this debut? Do you all plan on celebrating on the day it's released?
The truth is that we all enjoy writing and recording so much that pressure isn't how we would describe it. We are striving to make the best album we can and that's just our day to day. While the release of the album is definitely something to celebrate, our focus will shift immediately to getting back on tour. That in itself is a celebration.
14. You released and shot a video for the song "Forever" can you tell me about that experience and the concept behind it? Will you be using the microphone stand you used in the video at your showcases?
The Forever video was intended to be simple, so we couldn't really say it had a particular concept. We did the shoot early in March of this year and it was still very cold so it took some determination to shoot. The location had no heat, minimal shelter and we weren't exactly wearing parkas. After a few hours we were glad to be finished. As for the mic stand, while Trevor did a great job custom-making it, it's much too heavy to take on the road. Mostly it's for promo purposes only.
15. What more can we expect to see from you guys as far as this year goes?
Our plans are to finish recording the album, tour as much as we can, and hopefully after that we will shoot a new music video.
16. Do you want to add or say anything else?

EDGE OF ATTACK Gets Signed!
Canadian metallers EDGE OF ATTACK have signed to Nova Scotia based Spread The Metal Records to release their debut full length later in 2012. Label head, Matt Day commented: "Edge Of Attack made such an impression on me that I didn't wait to listen to the album a second time before making them an offer. Like the rest of my bands, they're great to work with, take their career seriously and this is evidenced by their phenomenal work so far."
Edge Of Attack - Self-Titled
With the release of their self-titled debut the band has changed members written all new material and the recording for it came out well for them. Some of the songs on this release that stood out above the rest includes “Forever”, “The Damned”, “The Haunting”, and “Crimson Rain”. These tracks alone really showcases the band’s ability as musicians, having the music be straight forward but raw from start to finish. Lyrically the context is meaningful but powerful keeping the listener to the groove of the beat of both words and music being played here.
Edge Of Attack’s debut indeed a raw case of aggression mixed with plenty of power and emotion written all over it.

1. So Edge Of Attack, where does one get a name like that?
I guess it goes back to the Pirate Days.
2. Who's all in the band and who does what?
Roxanne Gordey - Lead Vocals

Dallas Dyck - Bass/backup vocals

3. So your style of choice is old school thrash meets power metal vibe with a modern day twist?
Doug: Exactly. The new album leans more towards the power metal sound, but we still have the element of thrash in there.
4. Grande Prairie, Alberta is your homeland, can you tell me about?
Dallas: It’s cold.
Doug: It’s warm. Haha
Roxanne: It’s windy & dirty.
Trevor: It’s a country music town.
5. "Forever" is currently up for grabs as a free MP3 why did you want to release it for free? Would you consider it to be your first single somewhat?
Roxanne: We want to make it as easy as possible for people to hear it.
Trevor: The song represents a new era for Edge of Attack.
6. What do you think about downloading music online?
Trevor: It’s a double edged sword - it takes away profits from musicians but it also gets your name out there.
7. You compared that song to similar styling's to that of Bullet for my Valentine, I'd have to agree are they part of the influence circle?
Doug: Initially they were an influence, but not so much anymore.
8. You were able to make and release a video for "Losing Control" how did that all come together? Have you had any progress for a follow-up?
Doug: We had a producer come to us to make the video, and there are definite plans for a new music video in motion.
9. Tell me about your "No Return" release.
Trevor: No return was the very early stages of EOA the sound has grown substantially since then.
10. Now what about your full-length album "Where Angels Die" is the title you plan to go with or have things changed for the better?
Doug: Where Angels Die was the next step towards our new sound, in terms of the name the new album will most likely be self titled.
11. The line-up that you have as of right now is that the way to go or do you see some change ups to happen or are you all good to go?
Kayle: I really enjoy this lineup! Every member is now a part of my brethren!
12. Who writes the songs, what are they about?
Doug: I write most of them, Kayle writes some of the lyrics. The new album has a couple songs written by Dallas and Trevor as well. We hope that people read our lyrics in their own way.13. How do you promote your band and shows?
Roxanne: The internet is a great tool we have our website - www.edgeofattack.com, Facebook, MySpace, as well as radio, flyers and word of mouth.
14. Describe your show, visual and musically.
Kayle: Its very high energy. Visually, it’s like watching a group of awkward sweaty people flail around aimlessly, and one girl trying to dodge our flying headstocks! It’s accidentally acrobatic.
15. What inspires you to do what you do?
Dallas: It’s a rage outlet for me. Haha
Doug: I`ve been playing guitar since I was 10 and I heard Black Sabbaths Paranoid.
Roxanne: I`m a thrill seeker, the adrenaline rush from being on stage is addictive.
16. How does music affect you and the world around you?
Dallas: Music is our world!
