Vespera has teamed up with Alternative Press as well as The Jed Foundation to start a dialogue on suicide, addiction, and general mental health. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among people aged 15 – 24 (Source: The Jed Foundation). Conditions like depression, anxiety and substance use disorders, especially when they are untreated, increase the risk of suicide (Source: The Jed Foundation). Though the statistics are compelling, the stigma surrounding mental illness still exists. With his op-ed essay and release of “Paradise” ft. Spencer Sotelo of Periphery, vocalist Jonathan Wolfe seeks to break down the walls and share his story in hopes that others will find the confidence to continue the conversation. Additionally, Wolfe went through direct training with The Jed Foundation to learn how to tackle these issues and communicate with his friends/fans on the subject.

Wolfe stated: “So many of us suffer through our addictions and depression in silence and shame, I just want people to realize that they aren't alone. I want people to have a safe place to talk about what goes on in their minds without being judged or ridiculed. Maybe if we end the stigma, so many of us won't feel so isolated. I hope my story will help push the conversation of mental health in the right direction."

In Loving Memory has released a video for their single, "Nomad," off of their 2017 EP, "Introspective". Originally premiered on Alternative Press, "Nomad" is dedicated to lead singer Naveed Stone's parents and the sacrifices that they made immigrating from Bangladesh to create a better life for their children.

MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE have released a brand new single today titled "THORNS" exclusively via ALTERNATIVE PRESS MAGAZINE. "Much like our last record, we really tried to be diverse and establish a different mood for each song," says vocalist Matthew Hasting. The new single is the first bit of music we've heard from the band's all new LP coming this fall.

"You'll see that same ideology is very present with VICIOUS WORLD. 'THORNS' is the love child of Marilyn Manson and Advent, a song you can move and bang your head to, and just a small taste of how far we pushed ourselves on this new record. It's been quite some time since MCMB has released music, and we're extremely proud and excited for you all to bounce along with us to this song."

Falling in Reverse have announced April 7, 2017 as the release date for their fourth album Coming Home via Epitaph Records. Frontman Ronnie Radke previously told Alternative Press that the album is "a huge left turn. It sounds like nothing we've ever done. Every song is very vibey. There's more feeling in it."

He continued, "We're challenging ourselves now more than we ever have in the weirdest ways possible, because you would think writing the craziest solo or riffs would be the challenging part. But the challenging part is trying to stick to a theme and not go all over the place like we would normally do."

Tyson Curtis Stevens, the frontman of now-defunct post-hardcore outfit Scary Kids Scaring Kids and consequent outfit Coma Prevail, has been found dead at the age of 29.

Alternative Press originally broke the news, citing anonymous sources who told the outlet Stevens' body had been found by his girlfriend, Sabrina Amber, on Tuesday morning (US time). This has now been confirmed in light of her heartfelt in-memoriam post to Stevens' Facebook wall today (AEST) — the first official verification of the singer's passing following a growing response on social media to AP's original news from fans, friends and peers.

Stevens' new band, Coma Prevail, have also confirmed the news on Facebook, saying simply, "Unfortunately the rumours are true," and indicating further details would follow once the family has had sufficient time to grieve.

There are no details yet as to the circumstances surrounding Stevens' death, other than that he appears to have passed in his sleep. The singer had celebrated his 29th birthday on September 29.

Chiodos has announced an April 1st release date for the band's new album DEVIL.  The title is the first issued on the on the band's new imprint drk/lght records in partnership with Razor & Tie. The 13-track set finds founding front man Craig Owens and drummer Derrick Frost reunited with band members Bradley Bell, Pat Mcmanaman and Matt Goddard.  The sessions also mark the first Chiodos album to feature lead guitarist Thomas Erak (The Fall Of Troy).

A new track titled "Ole Fishlips Is Dead Now" has premiered with AltPress.  The video can be streamed HERE.

The title of the album itself reflects Owens, and inevitably the band's daily struggle to stay the course in living a productive life amidst the adversities of each day.  The singer offers, "Devil isn't something I thought long and hard about. It is something that hit me, and hard. I asked myself if I was brave enough to stand behind such a strong, emotionally evoking word.. and I knew right then, that was it. This title is not to be confused with the muscled, red horned man surrounded by fire. This is about the temptations of everyday life; the things that become regrets; the moments where you are forced to make a choice that will determine how it is that you look at yourself for the rest of your life. This album is my definition of Devil."

The repertoire is characteristically dramatic and adventurous, and in asking Erak what drives the album to these heights, he exclaims, "Go big or go home!" All of the songs have deep meaning to the band, and for Bell specifically "I'm everything that's normal" and "Why the Munsters Matter" are especially significant.  He shares, "'I'm everything that's normal' embodies the fact that we are all back together and moving forward together again and that message is important to us as a unit. Why the Munsters Matter' was the first song that we wrote all together again, and the first song with the help of Thomas on guitar. For me personally, it got me so excited to write music again.”

"We're trying to do things right, now," says Owens. "We had a lot of work to do, and what's different now is the way we communicate. Every once in awhile we catch ourselves getting into old habits, but we know how to deal with that now. We're more mature and know how to listen to one another and communicate. We're different people now, and that makes our experiences together different and working together different -- for the better."

DEVIL is produced by David Bottrill (Tool, Muse, Stone Sour) and mixed by Josh Wilbur.  Bell discusses the experience, "Working with both Botrill and Josh Wilbur who mixed the album was a blessing. Going into it I was a huge fan of their past work, and the sacrifices they made to work with us showed their dedication and true passion."

Kings of underground rock, Escape The Fate have announced the release date for their 4th studio album, Ungrateful on May 14th with new label home Eleven Seven Music. WHITECHAPEL has launched their new music video for "Possibilities of an Impossible Existence" off their current, self-titled release which was filmed by the Rockstar Media department with director Strati Hovartos while the band was out touring on 2012's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fest.

Guitarist Alex Wade comments; "Collectively as a band we all really love this video. The guys with the Rockstar Media department really did an outstanding job on it. It was shot on Rockstar Mayhem Fest this year with a combination of GoPro and DSLR cameras. I feel it gives a more intimate vibe than just a regular performance video. The video is also in black and white, which reminds me of old Pantera videos, which rules."

Californians Awaken The Empire hit the streets with their debut EP "The Awakening" that dished out two hit singles and videos for the songs 'Know Your Place" and "The Awakening". Now the first single off their upcoming yet to be titled debut full-length called "Cross My Heart" on Alternative Magazine's website check it out HERE.

Frontman vocalist/guitarist/programmer Damien Lawson had this to say in regards to the single “The general theme behind our band is that of an underground movement to encourage people to follow their dreams at all costs. If we were a movie, it would be somewhere between Donnie Darko (dark, romantic, schizophrenic, sarcastic, funny, complex) and Inception (mysterious, powerful, hidden agenda, purposely confusing).”
