Airbound's Lorenzo says New Music Coming with Gigs Planned

Melodic metalhead rockers AIRBOUND have released their debut single and video off their self-titled debut album, the track titled "Till The End", that has been making quite the buzz. With that, the band has got much more singles and videos in-store, with further plans of activity to follow. Guitarist/backing vocalist Lorenzo "Fudo" Foddai goes into details about their debut efforts of an album, as well as some history, and how the band got it's namesake.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Lorenzo: The band was born in 2006 in order to achieve the wish of Alessandro Broggi (Keyboards) to realize an AOR album. We already played together in other bands so we started this project trying to involve musicians with the same “attitude”, but also checking among our list of friends. Tomas Borgogna was the first to join the band, we loved the great skills he showed with his previous  band Borgogna. The second was Angelo Sasso: he was a friend and a great guitar player, so good that  he had no problems to play bass with us. The last one to join the band was Riccardo, another old friend. Let’s say we're friends first and bandmates second.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Lorenzo: It's very difficult to explain but let me try: we are 5 people with different musical cultures. This is something that significantly contributes to create our songs and we can say that it is our mix of personality and musical attitudes that makes the band. We have imagined that, as for the air, it’s difficult to say where the boundaries of our personality are in a song. Airbound is our way to describe this abstract concept. I hope this is remotely understandable.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Lorenzo: Our band is located in Milan, Italy. The local scene is quite interesting even if unfortunately not really popular. There are so many great musicians that are keeping the flag of Italian bands flying. I'm talking about people like Pierpaolo Monti, Alessandro Del Vecchio, Mario Percudani… New bands are seeing the light of the day and some are quite interesting. Among the best I can name Shining Line, Charming Grace, Wheels of Fire, Hungryheart, Raintimes, Danger Zone, Room Experience, Soul Seller.

4. How would you describe your style?

Lorenzo: As I said before, our style is based on our culture. You can find a bit of Rock, Hard Rock, some Metal oriented stuff and a rhythm section with a little bit of funky influences. Let’s say it’s Melodic Rock but with many different nuances.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Lorenzo: Our eponymous album is our first release and we are already thinking about a second album. We tried to put all of ourselves in our music, focusing our songwriting on an “AOR / Melodic Rock” style. The final result is a melodic rock album with a mix of past and present influences.

6. Why should people go out and check out this particular release?

Lorenzo: If you are looking for classic AOR and melodic rock music with a more contemporary and personal sound, you  should give a listen to our debut album. That's what we tried to achieve with this record, and we hope that it can please also fans of different kind of Rock, thanks to the mix of styles you can find in it.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Lorenzo: At the moment it's  impossible because our singer Tomas lives in Spain, but we are planning some gigs for 2018!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Lorenzo: Now we are focused on the promotion of our first record: reviews are coming in and we are pretty excited about  the positive feedbacks.  We're also collecting ideas for a second album, so stay tuned!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Lorenzo: On our Label Art Of Melody Music's YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQ3-JjX4PtOYRr8MG3zGiCA or website http://www.burningmindsgroup.com/art-of-melody-music) you can find our first video “Till The End” and the album teaser. I'm about to tell you something nobody already knows: a lyric video will be released soon! From September 15  the album will be available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Deezer, Google Play and all the other main digital platforms. CD can be bought online on http://www.burningmindsgroup.com/shop and on various mail orders. Moreover, physical copies are distributed by Sound Trek in Italy and Plastic Head in the rest of the world. In October an exclusive version with one bonus track  will be released by our Japanese Label AnderStein Music (http://www.anderstein-music.com/).

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Lorenzo: I just hope people would start singing out our songs loud! That would be very nice, nothing else!
