Dark From Day One Discusses New Album and the Growth of Themselves and Others!

Modern hard rockers DARK FROM DAY ONE formed way back when in 2006! But since they have released three album's and are in the midst of an upcoming fourth release. For now is this next release and the growth of themselves and their audience. That is what is discussed from the band below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and it’s members a. Natal (Founder, Guitar):

"I was kind of a late bloomer, I remember in my early years I used to sing songs on the radio, I grew up with my dad playing acoustic guitar and my mom singing. I got into the skating scene and that led to the discovery of Nirvana. I was at a high school dance and heard 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' for the first time, which literally changed my life. Fast forward a bit to when DFDO started, this was actually my third run at a band, the idea was to have beautiful vocals with heavy melodic instrumentals. Thus Dark From Day One was born. We saw significant success in our early years, but much like Icarus we flew too high. Through trials and tribulations over the years, the Ice Phoenix was ultimately born, which brings us to today. Our Rebirth. Hope you're ready for it!"

Ronnie (Bass): "Growing up listening to RnB and all kinds of music mixed in was a part of life for me. Watching other musicians play always fascinated me. Haha I told myself I wanted to do that, touch on that sound that was being made. I asked my grandma for a guitar. She bought me one and it’s been in use ever since. Living next door to a guy that taught guitar lessons I was hooked ever since learning my basic chords."

Brock (Drums): When I was 5 years old, my late grandmother bought me my first drum set. I would drag it into the living room and play in front of my family on pure impulse. At Thanksgiving, while everyone was eating, I was on my cousin’s drum set playing until someone came and told me to shut up hahah. I played percussion all throughout school, so that has really helped me in learning drums. I have been in a lot of bands, and there isn’t a more driven, motivated, and innovative band than Dark From Day One, and I am more than grateful for this opportunity!

Rob (Producer, Guitar): "When I first started playing music I was actually doing vocals. But I couldn’t find anyone who wrote material that I thought was interesting so I sort of picked up the guitar out of necessity. Eventually I started to realize that maybe I was more cut out to be a guitar player than a singer. I started playing around local bands, some of them terrible. And then me and an old friend of mine started up a project and through that project I met up with Natal. Around the same time as this project I started getting into recording and producing and mixing. And eventually opened up my own music production studio called Horizon Studios. One of the first things I did was hit up Natal to talk about re-recording some of the old material with some more modern and hi fidelity production. Shortly after that Natal asked me to fill-in for them a couple of shows and that basically led to me being in the band. My hope for these new songs in this new album is it takes Dark From Day One to a place it’s never really been before. I’m really loving the new material. It’s some I’d my best stuff I’ve ever written personally."

Truman (Vocalist): "Coming from a family with a variety of musical talents, it was only natural that I too developed similar talents. From the age of five, I have been in love with the Piano and Guitar in particular, like my parents. Growing up in New Orleans, there was never any shortage of music, from blues to hip-hop, though my love was and always will be Classical. Over the years, I've met many goals in my musical pursuits, especially becoming adept across multiple disciplines within the process of music. From directing a church band, to acoustic gigs and even singing for other bands, however Dark From Day One is the true test of my abilities and limitations. They challenge me everyday to be better and have given me a place to call home. Can't wait to see what we do next!"

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

A long long time ago, at the beginning of everything, in the beginning we were born into this earth, innocent, not knowing the pressures of stress nor the evils that humanity is capable of. Our only hope is that our life will never be anything short of extraordinary, therefore we are in the dark, from day one. Formed 2006.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there?

DFDO is based out of Arkansas, and we would say the music scene here is pretty great, all things considered with the way of the world currently.

4. How would describe your style?

Our style is generically classified as Modern Hard Rock, but we like to believe we break that mold in some ways already, and intend to make a whole new mold this year. We’d prefer to be referred to as a Cinematic Rock band though.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Prior to the works currently in progress, we’ve released 3 full length albums. We’re in the midst of a 4th, and you can expect nothing short of amazing. Check out Elysium & Giants on Spotify & YouTube!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

See answer above.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Rocklahoma is one we’re planning to attend at this time, however our focus for the rest of this year is mainly on content production and growing our audience.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

World domination, or destruction, you decide.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Any major streaming platform, or YouTube. As well as darkfromdayone.com. We’re launching a live stream very soon, and have already set up some merch on the site.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The way that it makes them feel, hopefully, inspirational.
