Cry Venom Releases "Second Wind"

Neo-power/speed-metal stalwarts Cry Venom have premiered a new video this morning. Appearing courtesy of Loudwire, “Second Wind” is an adrenaline-inducing anthem that is visually complemented by band performance footage and graphics. The end result is worthy of a prime slot on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball during its heyday!

Speaking on the track Jacky Vincent (guitar) said “’Second Wind’ is about picking yourself up off the ground and resurrecting yourself when you have been beaten down and hit rock-bottom. We wanted to mix the aggressive riffing metal with the melodic uplifting choruses to contrast the sense of struggle leading to the salvation. Our director Kaster Troy and his team found a really interesting clearing high up a mountain for the shoot. It seemed like a very metal location. If only there was snow too..”

“Second Wind” is taken from Cry Venom’s debut album Vanquish The Demon which was independently released last December (reaching #10 on the iTunes Metal Chart). The band was founded by Vincent and keyboardist Colton Majors in 2013. Speaking on the formation of Cry Venom, Vincent related “I have wanted to play melodic power/speed metal since I was about 14 years old. When the band was formed we wanted to add lots of different elements to the metal music we loved to give it an almost video game vibe where anything goes. Sometimes we have symphonic elements, sometimes electronic and sometimes hardcore.”

Vincent (who originally hails from the United Kingdom) was the original lead guitarist of Falling In Reverse. He released his first solo instrumental album Star X Speed Story in 2013 via Shrapnel Records. It was voted the 3rd best “shred” album of 2013 by Guitar World Magazine.

Bassist, Niko Gemini also plays in glam/sleaze metal purveyors, Davey Suicide. On vocals is Aleksey Smirnov, who is Gemini’s childhood friend from Russia. With his powerful voice, Smirnov was previously a finalist on the Ukraine version of the X Factor TV Show. Last to join was Wyatt Cooper (drums).
