Dreamland Maid Cafe’s Goes Spooky Just in Time for Halloween!

Back in February 2024 during Dreamland Maid Cafe’s stand alone pop up for Valentine’s Day, out at the Ramda Hotel beach house spot, in El Monte, California; I had attended my very first maid cafe experience. Having heard about them via conventions and them being popularized in Japan, this idea was brought to the U.S. and made available for Californians. Upon attending this event, I had made the suggestion for have another maid cafe experience in celebration of the holiday Halloween! Eight months later this would come alive in Downtown Los Angeles, California’s own Little Tokyo! Happening for only one weekend October 19th and 20th 2024, my reservation was the first day Saturday October 19th, for 1:30PM, where you were seated for 1 hour, served food, interactions with the maids and experienced a mini concert!

After being checked in, the maids greeted at the door, then my partner and I were seated at our table. The atmosphere was semi-Halloween with some simple streamers laid upon the walls and balloons, but that was it. Not much spooky-ness going on with the décor really which was a slight disappointment. The maid’s attire was the usual pink uniforms with minor Halloween dress up thrown in for good measure, each maid featuring either ears, tails or both! But I think it would have been more “fun” if they sported black maid outfits with spooky flare embedded in. Otherwise the menu option’s featured curry rice, karaage chicken, taiyaki, and an ice cream parfait. Drink wise would be lemonade, tropical punk, and iced coffee.

Picking the tropical punk and curry rice, my partner choose the lemonade, karaage chicken, and we shared an ice cream parfait. They did have add-on options with souvenirs nothing “Halloween” based really, minus the polarid photo, which they did deck out in spooky stickers and text! Other merchandise included magnets, light up sticks, keychains, luggage tag keychains, stickers, pins, cup, and the photo poloraid as mentioned previously. But that is not all, they was also an option for a fee to have a maid perform live on stage, during the concert portion of the event, Picked out our maid and she performed live with microphone, a lot of the other maids just danced to the songs played but all of the performances kept the crowd’s attention and made the experience more fun!

All in all this “Halloween” pop up event was a fun one, and to have them run with my idea suggestion was so much fun to take part in, hence why I am here providing this piece about how it all happened! The location was a nice option but the alternative would be the original location for future perhaps other pop up maid cafe experiences, that spot just felt more personal. But in short, check out a maid cafe if you get the chance to do so!
