Southern Californian death/thrash battalion EXMORTUS has officially joined the roster of metal's heaviest label Nuclear Blast Records. In addition to the signing announcement, the band is giving fans a taste of their highly-anticipated next album with the single "Oathbreaker," which is available for streaming now and accompanied by the music video created by Wayne Joyner (Dream Theater, Devin Townsend).

Commenting on the signing, founding guitarist Jadran “Conan” Gonzalez says:

"We are very excited to announce that our upcoming album will be our first with Nuclear Blast as our new label. We're working with them to bring you what we consider to be our best album yet!"

Adding about the single, Conan states: "'Oathbreaker' is the perfect teaser for the new album. Not only is it fast, heavy and filled with shred, but it's inspired by Tolkien's haunting lore of the Dead Men of Dunharrow in the Lord of the Rings: the Return of the King. While our previous work focused more on the heroic aspect of fantasy and sword & sorcery, this album expresses the darker side with tragic heroes and horrors of humanity. Enjoy the new track cause we feel it belongs in our setlists for years to come!"

EXMORTUS' new single was produced and mixed by Zack Ohren (Machine Head, Fallujah) and is the first new music since 2018's acclaimed full-length "The Sound of Steel" and subsequent 2019 EP, "Legions of the Undead." The band recently supported Death Angel on the road and are expected to announce additional touring soon.

Dark Horse Comics and thrash-punk titans Slayer have joined forces to deliver a new comic series this holiday season.

With full participation from the band and taking inspiration from Slayer's recent Repentless music videos (filmed in support of their latest album, Repentless, on Nuclear Blast Records), disciple Jon Schnepp (Metalocalypse) will pen the three-issue comic series with interior bloodlines drawn by Guiu Vilanova (Twilight Zone, Conan the Avenger, Weird Detective). Glenn Fabry's covers reign in blood while Antichrist Eric Powell (The Goon, Hillbilly) will illustrate the variant cover for the first issue.

"I think of the songs I write as stories," Slayer's Kerry King told Rolling Stone in an exclusive interview. "And if nothing else, they are certainly visual."

As announced in May, Slayer's live undead appearance at Comic-Con will begin on Thursday, July 21, with a special sold-out concert performance at the intimate-capacity House of Blues to a crowd of die-hard fans.

Slayer will appear within the walls of Comic-Con for two exclusive signings on Friday, July 22. Nuclear Blast America (booth #501) will host the band from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Dark Horse Comics (booth #2615) will host both the band and the comic's creative team for a very limited engagement from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Limited edition posters will be provided. See each booth for details.

Regarding the comic, writer Jon Schnepp told Rolling Stone, "It's definitely a lot of sensitive subjects that need to be explored and addressed. What's the best way to explore those? With the chaos of metal."

Slayer: Repentless #1 (of 3) is on comic stands in December 2016. Pre-order at your local comic shop today.

Overkill have inked a new worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast Records. Previously signed to the label for Europe only, Overkill's first worldwide release on Nuclear Blast will be a special box set comprised of the band's entire back catalog, due out this fall.

"Overkill is now a part of the Nuclear Blast family for the entire world," states Overkill manager John Finberg. "I have worked with the U.S. office on various projects as of late, and they have a true understanding of what to do and how to do it. This upcoming box set is the start of the next chapter in the band’s career."

Adds Nuclear Blast label manager Gerardo Martinez: "Nuclear Blast is proud to announce a worldwide deal with Overkill. We've worked with them outside North America for the past few years, but it was time to extend the deal and have them join the North American family as well. Nuclear Blast America welcomes the legends!"

British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH have inked a new worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast.

CRADLE OF FILTH vocalist Dani Filth commented "Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger has been trying to snare the band ever since I flew over to see him way back in 1996 as a viable label option, after we left Cacophonous Records. He barely missed out due to the close proximity to the band of Music For Nations, the label that CRADLE stayed with until 2001. Now, not only do Nuclear Blast have offices all over the world, but the one in London is actually dead opposite to the old MFN building! Which is weird!

"For the full frontal assault we have planned for the awesome new album, Nuclear Blast are the perfect war stallion to carry us screaming into the heart of the next chapter of CRADLE OF FILTH's dark, enigmatic history.

"Next year is going to be a massive year for the band and the black flags start flying here, with the announcement of our unholy union with Nuclear Blast who have already done great things with my Witch County band, DEVILMENT."

CRADLE OF FILTH's new CD will mark the first release with the band's new lineup, which includes new guitarists Ashok (of Czech groups ROOT and INNER FEAR) and Richard Shaw (of English acts EMPEROR CHUNG and NG26).

Filth recently told Australia's "Rabid Noise" podcast about CRADLE OF FILTH's upcoming album, which the band will begin recording on November 24 for a tentative June 2015 release: "We've got 15 tracks which we'll address in the studio, so we don't know which ones are gonna make the actual finished album. But it's sounding amazing.

"It hasn't got a name, but the working title is 'Hammer Of The Witches'. Because of our new lineup and everything else… It's amazing. It's gone back to the twin-guitar harmonies — very fast and ornate and atmospherically sppoky, but [with] lots of melody. I thnk it's gonna surprise a lot of people."

EXODUS unleash their blistering new track ‘Salt The Wound’, which features an intense guitar solo from none other than original EXODUS/Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett! ‘Salt The Wound’ is cut from the new EXODUS album Blood In, Blood Out, hitting stores on October 14, 2014 in North America via Nuclear Blast. Listen right now, exclusively via RollingStone.com: http://smarturl.it/Exodus-SaltTheWound

Guitarist Gary Holt explains that Hammett was more than ready to play on Blood In, Blood Out. “Having Kirk play on the new EXODUS record kind of came about after I played so many shows with Metallica while touring with Slayer over the past four year. It started the same way most of these things do, as a lot of chatter while having a good time, but Kirk was more stoked to play on the new record than anyone. He never got to play on anything with EXODUS since the first demo despite being a founding member, so I think it really meant a lot to him. Coming full circle so to speak. So I chose the song "Salt the Wound" since I thought the rhythm section for the first lead was right in his wheelhouse, and he killed it! He came in and busted out several takes and his solo compliments mine perfectly. Then we drank beer and ate barbecue! Epic time!”

“It felt really casual, really cool – just like it did back in 1980 when we were all just hanging out back in the day,” Kirk Hammett stated to RollingStone.com in July.

Legendary architects of thrash metal EXODUS have revealed the track listing for their upcoming tenth studio album, Blood In Blood Out, due out in North America on October 14th.

“When I was working on the record, I was sitting around watching TV series like ‘Gangland’ and all these locked-up prison reality shows,” shares guitarist & songwriter Gary Holt.  “And I thought, ‘Yeah, that’s like EXODUS.’  It’s a brotherhood.  You bleed to get in, you bleed to get out.  I've been doing this kind of music since I was a teenager and I’ll be doing it ‘til I can’t physically do it anymore.”

TRACKLISTING:

1. Black 13
2. Blood In, Blood Out
3. Collateral Damage
4. Salt The Wound
5. Body Harvest
6. BTK
7. Wrapped In The Arms Of Rage
8. My Last Nerve
9. Numb
10. Honor Killings
11. Food For The Worms

Produced by Andy Sneap, Blood In Blood Out marks the first release with returning vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza since 2004’s Tempo Of The Damned and features cover illustration by Swedish artist Par Olofsson (PSYCROPTIC, ABYSMAL DAWN, REVOCATION).

The album can be pre-ordered from the Nuclear Blast USA Webshop HERE in CD, digi-pak, and 2-LP exclusive yellow vinyl formats.  Bundles include a t-shirt with exclusive artwork for North America + a poster (while supplies last).

Last night at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, Slayer surprised the capacity crowd with an unannounced performance, kicking off the show with a three-song set that included the global premiere of "Implode," the band's first new studio recording in five years.

Recorded earlier this month at Henson Studios in Los Angeles and produced by Terry Date and co-produced by Greg Fidelman, "Implode" is now available as a free download as a "thank you" to the band's fans for their continued support.  Or, as Kerry King put it, "you have been waiting for us, now we are delivering for you." Registered members of Slayer's fan club were sent an email right around midnight giving them the link to the song and a chance to hear it before it was made public. "Implode" can now be downloaded at www.slayer.net.

Later this year, the two-time Grammy-winning Slayer will begin recording a new album, tentatively set for an early 2015 release date.  The album will make Slayer history as it will be released on Nuclear Blast Records through the band's own label imprint, closing out a 28-year relationship with Rick Rubin and American Recordings.  No name for the imprint has been decided on yet.

"Rick has played a huge role in our career, we've made some great albums with him," said Slayer's Tom Araya.  "But today is a new day, record companies don't play the kind of role they once did, and we really like the idea of going out on our own, connecting directly with our fans, and Nuclear Blast is fired up about taking on that challenge with us."

All future recordings on the band's label imprint will be released worldwide exclusively through Nuclear Blast.

"I was a teenage rebel when 'Show No Mercy' came out," said Markus Staiger, owner of Nuclear Blast, "and I identified with that record.  It was the most extreme, aggressive thing at the time. They were then and still are the most brutal metal band on the planet!  I really cannot express how proud I am that we are able to work with Slayer to join the Nuclear Blast family. We are ready for that next record and, I'm sure it will go into metal history!"

Added Nuclear Blast label manager Gerardo Martinez, "The prospect of helping Slayer take a leading role in the creative process surrounding their releases, projects and other cross-promotional opportunities is the ultimate honor for me, a metalhead who grew up in Los Angeles listening to Slayer.  Nowhere in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that Nuclear Blast would be making history alongside one of the best bands in metal."

Slayer - Tom Araya/vocals, bass, Kerry King/guitar, drummer Paul Bostaph, and Gary Holt who continues to stand in for the band's founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman - will spend the next few months on the road touring major North American and European festivals as well as headlining dates, sharing the stages with Metallica, Iron Maiden and more (see below), but is expected to be back in the studio in the fall to record the rest of the new album.

California death metallers CARNIFEX have inked a deal with Nuclear Blast Records. The band will enter Audiohammer studios in Sanford, Florida later this month with producer Mark Lewis (ARSIS, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER, DEICIDE, SIX FEET UNDER) to begin recording their new album for an early 2014 release.

Comments CARNIFEX frontman Scott Lewis: "Signing with Nuclear Blast is a career-defining moment for CARNIFEX. To be aligned with the largest metal label on earth is a true honor. After years as one of the U.K.'s most successful unsigned acts, London modern metal mob THE DEFILED have signed a worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The band's second album, "Daggers", will be released this summer.

To whet the appetites of fans, the first song from the album, "Sleeper", will be released via iTunes this Sunday, March 17. A lyric video for the track can be seen HERE.

Having released its debut album "Grave Times" via Metal Hammer magazine in 2011, THE DEFILED has since enjoyed status as the U.K.'s biggest unsigned metal acts. Making huge strides forward on their own, their achievements as a self motivated and independent band in the world of heavy music, which includes sold out tours, prestigious slots at the biggest festivals and a Golden God Award, is remarkable. Their unwillingness to compromise or settle for anything less than their ambition dictates has got them this far; this alliance with indie metal powerhouse Nuclear Blast Entertainment now sets the sky as the limit.

Commented THE DEFILED frontman Stitch D: "We're ecstatic to announce that we are signing to Nuclear Blast Entertainment. After years of being an independent band and doing everything DIY, we can't wait to have such a huge label and great team behind us to take us to the next level. It's an honor to be working with a label that have released some of our favourite bands of all time."

Added THE DEFILED's The AvD: "It's amazing to get the seal of approval from Nuclear Blast, all the years of barely scraping by and putting literally everything in to THE DEFILED have finally been recognized by the amazing team that is Mark Palmer and Monte Conner. We have wanted to work with these guys for years now and our dream is being realised. Signing to Nuclear Blast means we can now go world wide and do this thing properly, the way we have always envisioned in our heads."

Monte Conner, president of Nuclear Blast Entertainment, states: "THE DEFILED are real self-motivators and what they have accomplished so far all on their own is very impressive and caught my attention. With the added muscle of Nuclear Blast, they can do some serious damage this time. Most importantly, the new album is a HUGE step forward in every direction. Great songwriting and violent production meld together to create something that will very forcefully imbed itself in your brain."

THE DEFILED will head out on the Jägermeister Music Tour next week with GHOST and GOJIRA.
