1720 a recent venue, set in a rather not so suited area, in Downtown Los Angeles, California, the place where music comes alive as it were. This venue being not really a normal club or venue but set in a warehouse, with little to no AC, except for the back patio outside, featuring a food stand of tacos, with the merchandise selection of band’s items spread about inside by the bar area. The venue’s set up is thought out, with its sound system being decent enough, crowd size varying upon show to show. Tonight’s show would be one to be the talk of the night, featuring six different bands, over a six hour span of endless music!

Opening the night would be Mortalis, a rather interesting act, whose sound was good, but could have been slightly better. Their energy was gladly welcomed, getting the crowd amped up, with the mosh pit slowly pushing off to a good start up. This band though, did deliver, giving it their all, that they kept those present entertained and satisfied. Next up would be Wraith whose presents was very enlightening, getting the crowd very into them rather quickly. As their performance kept flowing, so did the crowd, the mosh pit was endless, with the music being speedy thrash metal, keeping it in check and fast hands down. Guitars, drums, bass, it all added up nicely, with the vocals keeping it altogether that the music was fresh yet flawless. In short, these two opening acts were pleasant.

Following them would be Exmortus who was celebrating the release of their debut album, fifteen years later, featuring some special surprise guests, from that album’s time, the old drummer and guitarist, filling in for a couple of classic tracks, with them bowing out, after, with the other members coming back to continue the set. The performance overall was kept fierce and fast, the mosh pit kept the energy non-stop, with music being so intense yet fearless. Its thrash metal with a modern twist, so it was heavy duty meets energetic. Having seen these guys some years back, seeing them again just kept that previous momentum alert. Surely an act to follow and see countless times for sure.

Next would be Bonded By Blood, whose thrash metal melodies were entertaining to say as much. Vocal-wise they took sometime to adjust towards, whereas the instrumentals were done surprisingly well. Some tracks sounded good, with others sounding great as the set grew on. Crowd kept the energy hyped up, kicking it to the next level with crowd surfers, stage divers, and lots of circular motion in the pit, it was all chaos from one side of the venue to the other side pretty much. These guys were quite one to catch, and likely see again sometime.

BONDED BY BLOOD PHOTOS:

A lot if not most, of these acts would believe it or not Californians, so Warbringer is no stranger to the sunshine that is always in sunny Southern California. This being one of their only hometown showcases in a while, and did they deliver it! Nothing but fast paced angst, music, and a crowd that never wanted it to end. Vocalist and band did a superb just with performance tactics, lots of energy provided, lots of laughs, with the singer doing funny expressions with voice, arms, and facial features, with the band being so aggressive with their musical tones it kept it more embracing to experience. Each of the songs were so catchy and upbeat that it felt never ending, everyone was in high spirits really. It to be noted that these guys do not suck, but expel an essence leaving a very positive result.

Lastly to round off the evening would be headliners Vio-lence whose main man vocalist had a rather interesting attitude, giving off vibes of the different kind. His energy was just angry yet happy, it just felt off at times throughout the band’s set. The performance was strong no question, the crowd keeping up that energy from all of the previous acts, increasing it to the next level with deliverance. Lots more stage divers, crowd surfing, mosh pits in circular and regular fashion, it was a never ending experience. The venue was hot and getting ever so hotter with the band’s conclusion that it felt like violence was what was done for the most part tonight.

VIOLENCE PHOTOS:

Every act delivered a performance that caught the attention in one way or another. Everybody enjoyed themselves, had so much fun with it all, that cheers and shouts kept the music alive and well. Certainly seeing and hearing these number of acts, in a row, would be unforgettable that they would be remembered til the end of time. Let they thrash til death!

Southern Californian melodic death shredders EXMORTUS have revealed the final single, "Storm Of Strings," ahead of the highly anticipated release of their 6th studio album, "Necrophony," that's out August 25th from Nuclear Blast Records. On their latest song, EXMORTUS puts their signature shred into a cover of legendary new age artist Yanni’s song “The Storm,” which was based off of the great Baroque composer Antonio Vivaldi’s concertos “The Four Seasons.”

Commenting on the single, guitarist/vocalist Conan says:

"We've been meaning to cover this piece for a long time and now it feels right for Necrophony. Honoring two artists at once, we give you a heavy metal shred version of Yanni's arrangement of Vivaldi's Summer Concerto. Enjoy the groove, enjoy the passion!"

Commenting on the impending record, guitarist/vocalist Conan says:

"'Necrophony' was an album title idea for as long as I can remember. This Symphony of the Dead couldn't be realized for a collection of songs until now. Finally, we have our darkest and most Classically inspired work yet, with artwork by the great Toha Mashudi to match perfectly. We returned to Sharkbite Studios to have the mighty wizard that is Zack Ohren aid us again in forging our metal, and resulted in the finest steel we're all proud to wield on the battlefield."

Today, the band has released the new single "Mind Of Metal," which can be streamed now at https://exmortus.bfan.link/mind-of-metal.a01.

Conan adds says of the song:

"'Mind of Metal' is a great compliment to our previous single 'Oathbreaker,' in that it has contrasting rhythms and structure, but shares lyrical inspiration by Tolkien. It's a tribute to the wizard Saruman and other like characters in the legendarium, for their will to power and domination by crafty and industrial means. This song features groove, fast licks, and some of our favorite riffs ever written. Can't wait to perform it live!"

Southern Californian death/thrash battalion EXMORTUS has officially joined the roster of metal's heaviest label Nuclear Blast Records. In addition to the signing announcement, the band is giving fans a taste of their highly-anticipated next album with the single "Oathbreaker," which is available for streaming now and accompanied by the music video created by Wayne Joyner (Dream Theater, Devin Townsend).

Commenting on the signing, founding guitarist Jadran “Conan” Gonzalez says:

"We are very excited to announce that our upcoming album will be our first with Nuclear Blast as our new label. We're working with them to bring you what we consider to be our best album yet!"

Adding about the single, Conan states: "'Oathbreaker' is the perfect teaser for the new album. Not only is it fast, heavy and filled with shred, but it's inspired by Tolkien's haunting lore of the Dead Men of Dunharrow in the Lord of the Rings: the Return of the King. While our previous work focused more on the heroic aspect of fantasy and sword & sorcery, this album expresses the darker side with tragic heroes and horrors of humanity. Enjoy the new track cause we feel it belongs in our setlists for years to come!"

EXMORTUS' new single was produced and mixed by Zack Ohren (Machine Head, Fallujah) and is the first new music since 2018's acclaimed full-length "The Sound of Steel" and subsequent 2019 EP, "Legions of the Undead." The band recently supported Death Angel on the road and are expected to announce additional touring soon.

“We’re anxious to get back out and continue our traditional summer headlining run,” announces singer/guitarist Jadran “Conan” Gonzalez. “We just got out of the studio and we’re psyched to hit the road and bring a couple of great new bands with us.”

"Here it comes" is entirely what was said throughout the night at the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, California. For it was because of Canadian's in the form of death metal act Kataklysm and other Californians in Exmortus! These acts rounding out the night at this known venue, decked out all in black, as the people themselves also wore black attire left and right, all was a buzz, as people eagerly had awaited these bands arrival that evening.

Exmortus were the ones to kick things off before headliners Kataklysm took the stage to wrap up the night. The crowd of on lookers, took ready, as Exmortus erupted the stage, bringing pure chaos and thrash metal across the venue, the mosh pit, opening up literally, as males and females alike, were shoved and pushed each and every way possible. Others falling to the floor, being quickly lifted upwards, as they run a muck once more, throughout the band's performance. The band's presents upon the stage being brutalizing yet intense. As the crowd cheered with glee to their mannerisms, as the songs thundered through, causing fists to raise high in the air, while others drank to amuse themselves, everyone else, nodding if not bobbing their heads to the tone of the beat. Exmortus playing material old and new especially off their fifth album to date "The Sound Of Steel", just released, had brought forth a presents, that caused such excitement throughout the night, that all who witnessed them were left in total joy.

EXMORTUS:

After their set was concluded, all stood watch, as the roadies took down equipment to just set up all new gear for the headliners, that was Kataklysm. As they were preparing themselves back stage, the clock struck along, until close to 11PM of which time would be that the band would play. Going on to play a good solid hour or so set list, consisting of all new material and old material working's as well.
Their most latest album and thirteenth album to date would be titled "Meditations" released just this year and start of the summer. As the band would be playing the Whisky A Go Go in the form of an album tour, miniature portion though. While this may have been a mini tour it was still a successful one, as tonight would be the finale of said tour.

KATAKLYSM:

The band went on, playing for that time frame given, as the vocalist went on and on about saying "Here it comes", to other expressions of "move" down "raise your horns!" The crowd easily listening, doing as told, the mosh pit, opening up far and wide, as again the people being thrown, shoved, and pushed everywhere available. The crowd and band together were in high hyper tensions, not letting their energy fade away but lighten up.

Fans cheered and applauded throughout, given their thanks to what was happening during the set, as the band would go on to play such tracks as "As I Slither", "Crippled And Broken", "Shadows And Dust", "Black Ship", to newer tracks off their latest "Meditations" release like "Guillotine" and "Outsider". All of which given great responses by the crowd, as all were thrilled with delight to the sound waves sent off from these song selections.

Overall though, Kataklysm and Exmortus both rounded off the night, in a mighty way. As both shared the same stage, given a performance, that all would recall in no time at all. Surely a mixture of death metal and thrash metal, that will not be missed, but be cherished forever more.
