Finnish melodic death metal band CHILDREN OF BODOM will release the closing album of their career, 'A Chapter Called Children of Bodom (Final Show in Helsinki Ice Hall 2019)' on December 15th, 2023 via Spinefarm.

"It's great to have that final show transformed into a live album. For those who attended, it's a time travel back to that moment. And for those who didn't, it's an opportunity to experience how the chapter called CHILDREN OF BODOM was closed."

— Daniel Freyberg

"Needless to say that this night was very special. When 'In Your Face' started, the reality hit me and I had to turn away from the audience cos I actually started crying. But the beauty is that the memories and Alexi’s music will live forever!"

— Henkka Seppälä

Released with the blessing of Alexi Laiho's estate, the concert album completes the legendary band's career which began in Espoo, Finland in 1993 as Inearthed. Over their career, CHILDREN OF BODOM released ten studio albums, two live albums, two EPs, two compilation albums and one DVD. The final line-up of the group upon their split in 2019 consisted of Alexi Laiho (lead guitar, lead vocals), Jaska Raatikainen (drums), Henkka Seppälä (bass), Janne Wirman (keyboard), and Daniel Freyberg (rhythm guitar).

"It felt surreal to be on that stage in Helsinki Ice Hall as I knew that I was probably not gonna play with the guys ever again nor get to perform for the amazing fans anymore. It felt sad but also somewhat relieving. It is great that the last show and it's emotional rollercoaster can now be enjoyed by everyone who couldn’t make it to the show."

— Janne Wirman

"When I got on the stage I felt calm, probably because I no longer felt the need to prove anything but to enjoy the music and the presence of all the fans. I was just so grateful to have been a part of all this, knowing that our music wouldn’t disappear even if we never ever played together again."

— Jaska Raatikainen

It was bound to happen Children Of Bodom said that "Halo Of Blood" would be returning to their older roots going as far back as "Hate Crew Deathroll", "Follow The Reaper" era but when it comes down to it it's a mix between those releases and "Relentless Reckless Forever meets "Blooddrunk". With that said this is a strong album for the band, featuring extensive amounts of keyboard use throughout, more melodies being driven with layers of material here and there like "The Days Are Numbered", "Scream for Silence", "Damage Beyond Repair" really drives the direction of the music. This time around Children Of Bodom's skills take their music to a much higher level and ground, instrumentally the keyboards do their part while guitars, bass, drums, and even the lyrical context is full on Children of Bodom material, never stepping away from what they have been known to do. "Halo Of Blood" is one of those releases that brings out the old meets the new in a refreshing way.

Children of Bodom will release their eighth album, Halo of Blood, on June 11th. Check out the artwork and tracklisting below!

TRACKLISTING:

01) Waste of Skin
02) Halo of Blood
03) Scream for Silence
04) Transference
05) Bodom Blue Moon (The Second Coming)
06) The Days are Numbered
07) Dead Man's Hand on You
08) Damage Beyond Repair
09) All Twisted
10) One Bottle and a Knee Deep

CHILDREN OF BODOM (also COB) have inked a worldwide recording deal (excl. Japan) with Nuclear Blast Records. The celebrated metal label -- who worked with the band over the early stages of its career -- is proud to announce the renewed partnership with the world famous band. COB, who kicked off a year long celebration of its 15th anniversary with a successful North American tour alongside label mates ELUVEITIE, have a new studio album planned for release in 2013.

"We had a good, productive and long run with Spinefarm Records for fifteen years and now it’s simply just time for a change.“ said CHILDREN OF BODOM front man / guitarist Alexi „Wildchild“ Laiho. „I’m absolutely stoked to start the new chapter of COB's career with Nuclear Blast and look forward to working with them."

"Personally, I am so excited to get to work with Nuclear Blast again.“ adds COB bassist player Henkka T. Blacksmith. „We have such good memories from the beginning of our career with them. We know the people already and we know how committed they are in doing metal!"

Nuclear Blast Europe A&R rep Jaap Wagemaker shares: "15 years ago we were introduced to a very young band from Finland who blew us away with their track ‘Deadnight Warrior’ from their debut album Something Wild - and their music was indeed something wild! Fast-tapping guitar work combined with incredible keyboards and angry vocals… it was the start of the career of CHILDREN OF BODOM.

Nuclear Blast released their first three albums outside of Finland: Something Wild, Hatebreeder, and Follow The Reaper, albums that became classics in the history of metal. Unfortunately, after the third album, we went separate ways but we have always been following them and stayed in contact. CHILDREN OF BODOM became a very big band worldwide and now the time has come to welcome them back home! We at Nuclear Blast are very happy to see CHILDREN OF BODOM rejoining the Nuclear family and are looking forward to working their next albums. You can be sure that ‘something wild’ will come your way!"

On May 21st, Finnish metallers CHILDREN OF BODOM will release Holiday at Lake Bodom (15 Years of Wasted Youth), a very special CD+DVD career retrospective in celebration of the band's 15th anniversary.

The release will spotlight specially selected tracks from every one of the band's albums (1997's Something Wild, 1999's Hatebreeder, 2000's Follow The Reaper, 2003's Hate Crew Deathroll, 2005's Are You Dead Yet?, 2008's Blooddrunk and 2011's Relentless Reckless Forever), plus two newly-recorded, and undeniably fun, cover songs (‘I’m Shipping Up To Boston’ by DROPKICK MURPHYS and ‘Jessie’s Girl’ by RICK SPRINGFIELD), plus detailed liner notes penned by the members of COB themselves.

The CD track listing for Holiday at Lake Bodom (15 Years of Wasted Youth) is as follows:

'Hate Crew Deathroll'
'Shovel Knockout'
'Hate Me'
'Everytime I Die'
'Needled 24/7'
'I'm Shipping Up To Boston' (*previously unreleased)
'Sixpounder'
'Warheart'
'Roundtrip To Hell And Back'
'Trashed, Lost & Strungout'
'Living Dead Beat'
'Deadnight Warrior'
'Blooddrunk'
'Follow The Reaper'
'Are You Dead Yet?'
'Silent Night, Bodom Night'
'Jessie’s Girl' (*previously unreleased)
'In Your Face'
'Angels Don’t Kill'
'Downfall'

The DVD portion of the package will include "candid touring and backstage footage from around the world”, plus the never-before-seen music video for Relentless Reckless Forever's 'Shovel Knockout'.

"15 Years of Wasted Youth is the sound of Children Of Bodom working hard, partying hard, being relentless and stubborn," says the band's superstar guitarist / vocalist Alexi Laiho. “We went through many brick walls to get to where we are, and after seven studio albums, two live albums, non-stop touring, bleeding and breaking a lot of bones, I think we are justified in putting this album out. Let the music speak for itself. You have been warned."

Finnish metallers CHILDREN OF BODOM will embark on a North American headlining tour in celebration of the band's 15th anniversary. Presented by ESP in association with Full Metal Jackie, the quindecennial trek will kick off on January 30, 2012 in Rochester, New York and run through March 4, hitting 26 cities over the course of the five-week jaunt.
