Dreaded Dale's Discussion on Coming Together, Shows, and the Music Behind All of It!

Metalcore, christ-core go getters DREADED DALE have several songs out and about, with them always working upon all new music, expected out soon! The band's discussion with us about how they formed, music creativity, and what plans they have set as far as the future, show playing and much more.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It kind of came out of nowhere — “Dreaded Dale” just stuck. It started as a weird phrase that sounded like it belonged in an old ghost story or some backwoods legend. The name had this gritty, uneasy feel to it that matched the heaviness of our music and the spiritual weight behind our lyrics.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Christcore/metalcore lets us be brutally honest while still offering hope. It’s aggressive enough to express pain, but there’s room in the chaos to point to something greater — God, redemption, healing. Plus, we just love the energy. Heavy riffs and breakdowns feel like home.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yeah, most of us crossed paths in local scenes, churches, or mutual friends over the years. There was already a shared language — both musically and spiritually — before we even started playing together.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re based out of Kentucky. The scene here’s small but passionate — lots of DIY spirit, and people show up ready to go hard. We’ve got mad respect for bands like Sleeping Giant and Impending Doom, even if they’re not technically local — they’ve been huge influences on us spiritually and sonic-ally.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

A lot of it comes from pain, trauma, addiction, and the journey toward redemption. We pull from real life — our stories, our friends’ stories — and let that collide with scripture and faith. God’s grace in dark places is a recurring theme.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Our songs deal with spiritual warfare, mental health, loss, healing, betrayal, and hope. There’s anger, there’s sorrow — but also light breaking through. We don’t pretend to have it all together; we just try to keep it honest and point to the One who holds us together.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Yeah, everything’s original. We usually start with a riff or a breakdown idea, then build from there. Vocals come last — they’re shaped by the music’s mood and whatever we’re walking through personally or spiritually. It’s very collaborative but always raw. We don’t write to sound polished — we write to say something real.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We’ve got tracks like Wormwood, Belly of the Beast, Voices, and Deception — each one a punch in the chest with heart behind it. You can expect honesty, heaviness, and hope. We don’t sugarcoat anything, but we don’t leave people in despair either.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes — always. We’ve got some new stuff brewing that pushes even deeper into both heaviness and worship. It’s rawer, more personal, and somehow even more Christ-centered.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We’ve been hitting festivals and working on putting together a tour. We’ve played Audio feed, some church shows, some wild DIY spots. More coming soon — we’re trying to take this message everywhere.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We want to keep growing — musically, spiritually, and in reach. More music, more shows, more moments where people meet Jesus in the pit. Ultimately, we want to be faithful with this platform and make noise for the Kingdom.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can stream us on Spotify, Apple Music — all the usual platforms. Merch is available through our website www.dreadeddale.com and at shows. Hit up @dreadeddale on insta and TikTok — links are in the bio.
