Carnifex Celebrates “Hell Chose Me” Album with Suffocation, Devourment, Distant, Bodybox and Stages of Decomposition in LA!

Back in the spring deathcore monsters Carnifex would go on to announce a summer trek in celebration of the 15th anniversary of 2010's album "Hell Chose Me", in which they would play said album in parts, as well as some hits during their set. Support would come from Suffocation, Devourment, Distant, and Bodybox, along with Stages Of Decomposition.

Kicking off the tour with the first date being set off in Los Angeles, California in Downtown LA at The Belasco theater, the not sold out show, would still draw in a crowd, even with the craziness happening in and around LA and the world currently.

Thus fans would head inside after doors at 4:30PM and the openers Stages Of Composition would play off, drawing in quite a reaction, having what I heard from those who had seen them be impressed. I having missed their set sadly, felt a tad sadden by it.

Following them would be Bodybox a blend of death metal meets hardcore, a lot of 2 step dancing would take place throughout their performance. Their music being heavy duty working's, with some slam elements that kept it all in check really. They got the crowd's attention and kept that energy ever flowing.

After them would be Distant a deathcore band whose timing was missed by a minute, due to their merch line and other lines in general for the remainder of the evening, having grabbed some merchandise from them and the others, it caused me to missed their set. But luckily I could still hear them from outside, and they sounded brutal yet fun regardless.

After them would be death metal Devourment a death metal band whose time on stage was well spent. During their entire performance the floor was moving endlessly. No one stood still, that everyone was dancing about, or banging their heads, it was a good smooth performance that everyone even wanted the band to do an encore but they couldn’t due to time constraints.

Wrapping up the evening would be the co-headliners Suffocation, every time that they have played, that I have caught them, their set is always priceless. The crowd was flawless with such energy it was never ending. The mosh pit was constant, moving, headbanging, dancing, it was happening left and right. They are an act that is always so much fun to witness and have such a good time catching.

Ending the entirety of the night was Carnifex as soon as they hit the stage they played songs off their “Hell Chose Me” album, with other hits in-between. The crowd at first was a bit restless, slow, and not invested as the previous bands. But after a few songs that momentum came crashing back, that everyone kept pushing one another, banging their heads, jumping, crowd surfing, stage diving it was happening no matter where you looked. The band had ended the night with their cover of Slayer’s “Angel Of Death”, that got everyone insane! Having not seen them since 2010, catching them now was well worth the wait!

Overall this trek of a tour was well thought out and put together. All of the bands had time well spent, caught the audience’s attention, and everyone there had plenty of time to have a ton of fun!
